Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

thankyou for the dolphins that is also my favourite!!
also someone did a thread of wrong answers only which was very funny

maltesermagnet · 02/09/2023 19:21

The Center Parcs rapids one. I think it's in classics. I cried with laughter.

Also I still think about Coats protection league... hope she's ok

Sparklesocks · 02/09/2023 19:21

I’ve just remembered a poster who had a work crush….one day in the office she heard him on the phone telling someone his home address and she found herself putting it into Google maps out of curiosity….only to hit the wrong button and the speech thing loudly announcing ‘starting route to…address’ across the office making her crush look over. I think I’d have to quit 🫣

The thread where a poster wondered how her dad would react if she was kidnapped by people traffickers like in the film Taken. It was full of stories about various dad's ringing their adult DC for help programming the sat-nav, deciding to mow the lawn five minutes before leaving, mum's packing flasks and sandwiches, writing strongly worded letters.

What would your father do if you were kidnapped by Parisian sex traffickers? | Mumsnet

I'm watching Liam Neeson in Taken as he kicks, wallops and murders his way across Paris in pursuit of his abducted daughter? It's made me wonder what...

Helena lost 10 stone but managed to drag it around with her into every thread she could find on weight loss. She always reminded me of the Peter Kay 14 stone in a day sketch.

I'm 99% certain I know who Helena is in real life because of glaring similarities between her MN persona and this real life person.

Mine is Balonz as well 😂Frensham Ponds will forever be associated with Balonz in my eyes! Top drawer trolling.

My second is 'Fly Seat on the Bus'. No one could work out what on earth the OP was talking about. I cried with laughter.

Another post I enjoyed was the the thread about bad passport photos (a fab read in all) and a poster's DH had his photo declined as his bald head was too shiny 😂it tickled me so much!

DungareesAndTrombones · 02/09/2023 19:27

One where the OP had the most horrifically abusive husband who used to do shit like make her have hours long sex with him after she had been up feeding their baby and was exhausted. It was so chilling I really hope she left him. And fingers crossed he fell off a cliff.

Pottyberry · 02/09/2023 19:27

So this is terribly vague, but it was in Relationships, I think about getting "the ick" and a poster said an ex sort of mumbled "hnmmm let the dog see the rabbit" when presented with anything "from food to tits". My husband says this sometimes and I always remember this op.

That was hilarious. Here's hoping it was the start of something beautiful.

I literally cannot hear anything other than ‘Balonz’ whenever someone asks about baby names 🤣

KatharinaRosalie · 02/09/2023 19:28

The one where a poster was doing an important work presentation and stood up in front of her audience and said "good afternoon, my name is Nigella Lawson" except it wasn't

Angela Hernandez. Except it still wasn't her, it was her colleague who was also in the room.

GachaBread · 02/09/2023 19:29

The woman who was raving in her house with a blow horn pissing off her partner. Hilarious 😂

Mumsnetter went on holiday and saw poor people smiling and concluded there is nothing more enriching for the spirit then poverty.

Best quote from the laundry thread

bingolittle · 26/05/2017 17:12
So hanging your underwear on your washing line is wrong.

But sending your husband to talk to your neighbour about his wife's underwear is PERFECTLY OK.

I sometimes re read the elderly Korean lady thread when I feel stressed. It became very meditative. It’s on classics if anyone had not yet read it.

I can't find it. Can you kindly link it? Thanks

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 02/09/2023 19:34

Always the Sharon posts, which I think might have been the same poster as snapped and farted. And the stupid Supersoaker woman.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/09/2023 19:35

A poster, in her 30s, who was married to a religious man, who practiced Christian domestic discipline - including spanking her. She created several threads over the course of a couple of months and most posters were trying to encourage her to leave him. Some if not all were deleted after reports. I sometimes wonder about her and if she managed to escape.

The poster, a young woman, who used to pop up from time to time professing to having a lavish lifestyle. Private jet and so forth. No one believed her. Then she posted pictures of what she said was herself on a jet and another with her baby in a luxurious setting by a pool. They didn’t look like stock photos, more snaps from a phone. This thread was also deleted and I never saw a whiff of her again.

The poster, fixingabrokenhesrt, who in 2018 said one of her ds’s died and another was gravely ill and she was spending most of her time in hospital. She was giving regular updates over the weeks, went into a lot of detail about the condition and it all seemed very plausible. The thread at some stage was moved to 30 days only and I read on here from other posters that she was a troll. It was such a harrowing thread. The last thread she made stated she was pregnant and had decided to keep the baby despite the possible genetic issues. My mind sometimes wonders if it was true and if not, what would motivate someone to make something like this up. Both possibilities are equally unsettling.

The poster, who locked herself in a room away from her violent partner / husband and Mumsnet managed to get the police to her address. I hope she is happy.

I don’t remember usernames.

HolyHellaciousHeck · 02/09/2023 19:36

I always wonder how a couple of posters who were having tricky times with their families are getting on - ghostspirit and MrsKoala.

Topofthemornintoya · 02/09/2023 19:37

I remember reading about a woman who was pregnant and her friend was due to return to work after maternity leave. The friend told the woman that she would be looking after her bah when she went back to work as she would be off looking after a baby anyway. The poster obviously did not want to and actually put it on AIBU (no!!!!!!). I often wonder how that worked out.

Also the poster who went to Berlin with her friend who didn't bring any money! What happened there??

all the mentions of Balonz reminded me that I really enjoyed the thread about ‘what is Hugo short for’ (not sure the OP was real but it was very funny)

@ILookAtTheFloor can you she'd some light about why the Balonz thing was funny?

lavenderandlemon · 02/09/2023 19:44

One woman who was trying to leave her abusive husband - I often think about her and hope she managed it. I can't remember all the details, but I remember she had to sit at the same table as him and was allowed to do some hobbies while he worked, couldn't even go to another room and watch TV. I think she'd managed to line up a place to live and a training course and then stopped posting.
