Just that, dog and I locked in bedroom.Neighbours aware. He's a functioning alcoholic.Have asked him to leave, repeatedly. My home and I pay for everything.I believe in MNs terms he's a cock lodger.Have so had enough. I have to tell him to shower, brush his teeth etc. The loo is left in a disgusting state, shit and wee everywhere yet I'm the unreasonable one. Just want to see the back of him.

If he takes the car, immediately call the police again to report it stolen and tell him he's not insured on it, you booted him out, and he's taken it.

TGGreen · 02/09/2023 12:30

Legally he's less than a lodger. You know as a boyfriend with no shared children, you can cut and run, owing him absolutely nothing. He doesn't deserve anything. Even if giving him the car was a good idea (you know it's not), why would you want a link to him when there's no need? You're opening yourself up to more psychological and physical abuse by maintaining one.
Of course he doesn't want to leave. Why would he? He gets to live the life he wants with you but you have no need to ever see him again. I'd also try for a non-mol order based on his treatment of you, especially if you think he won't leave you alone.

Ughhelp · 02/09/2023 12:38

Dtay strong. Don’t give a drunk driver the car. Get him a taxi and a few nights in a hotel, if this helps get him out today.

Skullcollector · 02/09/2023 12:43

OP if you haven’t done so already, DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR CAR

Andthereyougo · 02/09/2023 12:43

Please don’t give your car, god knows what he’ll do.
Insist the police remove him, and I’d get a couple of cameras so you can see if he comes back. If he arrives call the police. I know they’re overstretched but it’s their job to remove him.

AutumnCrow · 02/09/2023 12:44

Why would you give a drunk, uninsured man a car to drive? Odd.

Andthereyougo · 02/09/2023 12:45

Also if you give him your car he’s unlikely to process the change of owner with DVLA so you could get tickets, summons etc for anything.

BMW6 · 02/09/2023 12:47

Christ Almighty what kind of bloody irresponsible fool proposes gifting a car to an uninsured fucking ALCOHOLIC

FFS

whynotwhatknot · 02/09/2023 12:49

also if you consent to giving him it you will be arrested for allowing someone to drive uninsured

JohnnyYenSetHimselfOnFireAgain · 02/09/2023 12:49

PLEASE don't give him the car, it's only a matter of time before he kills or seriously injures someone with it. And why reward him for being a first class prick?

Sending you strength! 💐

Cinnamongirlinthesand · 02/09/2023 12:53

He's given his son a sob story, he's picking him up shortly.
Such a relief, he'll be living a couple of hours away but wants me to give him money to rent somewhere, thinks it's his right.
Thanks to everyone who's responded.
I do feel a little sad but it has to be this way.
Alcoholics are not easy to live with, he hid it well, at first but denies having a problem. He'll drink himself into an early grave.

Doggymummar · 02/09/2023 12:55

Yep my ex hid it until after we were married. They will tell you the sky is pink if it serves them in some way. Pure evil

MansfieldLark · 02/09/2023 12:55

Op if you are determined to give him the car ( and like others I don't think you should) please get your log book and go on the dvla website to change formal ownership today. Also cancel your insurance. It's up to him what he does then. Protect yourself

He sounds awful. Truly. He’s not just an alcoholic, he’s an entitled and malicious abuser. He physically hurts you and the dog deliberately. He’ll be no loss.

Wait, what?! She’s going to give him her car???? @Cinnamongirlinthesand do not do this.

MansfieldLark · 02/09/2023 12:57

Block him on everything and change your number. Today is your fresh start.

Tell him to go and fuck himself with a brass cactus.

Mamma2017 · 02/09/2023 12:59

Wowwwww what the hell!! Do not let him have your car!!!!

bobisbored · 02/09/2023 13:01

Hope you're ok OP.

Babyghirl · 02/09/2023 13:01

@Cinnamongirlinthesand
Just watch he's not telling you his son his picking him up so you can cancel the police to remove, so he has a few hours to sweet talk you with the sorrys, to get his feet back under the table, then no son turns up police have been cancelled and your back to square one xx

Itick8outof10boxes · 02/09/2023 13:04

Don't give him your car, he could end up killing someone. Drinking into an early grave, so what? My ex h was like your p and he was dead at 42. Needless to say I was very happy to hear the news, total waste of space.

LuluBay · 02/09/2023 13:09

You poor thing! Don't give him your car! It's yours. Glad your daughter has come round. He ia absolutely horrendous! He's had enough from you. Do not give him any money either. I honestly can't believe some people. Glad you are having the locks changed. You have done the biggest step. Well done you! Be proud of yourself and stay strong.

Bimblesalong · 02/09/2023 13:14

Nearly there OP. You owe him nothing. Let his son take care of his waste of space father. Please use your money for you, your dog and family.
keep going. Just a little more time and your new life starts.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/09/2023 13:14

Give that man nothing.
Not even the steam from your pee!

No car. No money.

If he's an alcoholic, he needs to hit his absolute bottom before he can even begin to recover. Anything else is just putting sticking plasters over the situation.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/09/2023 13:15

Oh, and just to cover yourself, I'd start locking the exterior doors to your place. Just in case.
