To ask what jeans shape is fashionable currently

Not really an AIBU, posting for traffic. Skinny jeans have seemed to be on the out for a while. Is the current fashion straight leg? High rise? Wide leg? What say you, MN?

Can anyone describe what 'mum jeans' are please?

VeryGoodVeryNice · 02/09/2023 18:31

Bit spenny but I have some Sophie Shnoor jeans and they’re amazing, so flattering.

22 and only wear mid/low rise bootcut

Araminta1003 · 02/09/2023 19:10

levi’s 501 in my area- not too tight on you though! Rolled up if need be.

Raggammuffin · 02/09/2023 20:29

Wow, are too long jeans back? I bought a pair of 'flares' and dropped them off at the zip yard to get 6 cm off the end. No regrets though. I just don't want the ends of my jeans dipped in to puddles. That's too 1990s for me.

loose fitting but still tapered. I like them, they're everywhere.

Bedofroses2 · 02/09/2023 20:32

I like Zara loose fit/paperbag waist jeans rolled up, or slim fit mom jeans - I don't mind jeans a bit baggy around my legs, but I hate loads of extra fabric around my ankles.
Will absolutely still be wearing skinnies too, though! I'm more bothered about what looks and feels good than what's trendy.

Whatever will fit over my fat arse and hopefully make it look not quite so fat.

Edited

I stick with this style please

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia i just bought Levi jeans in the outlet shop at McArthur glen, great shop, lovely staff (helpful when questioned but leave you to it). I chose a straight leg 724 and they are ridiculously comfy and flattering.

Choose both waist and length so always a great fit - so refreshing after years of high street dress sized jeans which are always a bit wrong- length on me.

I buy levis from the US on ebay (I'm in NZ) as that way I can get the waist and length right - jeans here are usually too long, apparently people who are a bit larger are also extremely tall!!

RampantIvy · 02/09/2023 21:54

I did see some nice Levis in the outlet at Junction32 Yorkshire Outlet, but they were button fly. Who on earth prefers a button fly? Also, as a pear with a 12" difference between waist and hips I find buying by waist size doesn't work for me. To fit on my hips the waist is too big.

Where are you finding bootcut? They're my favourite and I haven't seen any for a while.

Other than that I just think everyone should wear the shape of jeans they feel good in.

M&S Eva jeans 👍

Zonder · 02/09/2023 23:14

Thank you @IlonaRN

I've pretty much stuck to boot cut throughout the years as they work best for me. I've got some straight leg ones too but they annoy me as they look more tapered than straight.

The same

CeriB82 · 03/09/2023 08:06

Super skinny ripped.

the only ones i wear. I absolutely loathe ill fitting clothes in women. Show off your figures! Dont hide away behind a baggy 4 sizes too big

PuppyMonkey · 03/09/2023 08:19

This thread has put me right off jeans altogether TBH. Grin

If I wear anything other than skinny jeans and a long top I feel very weird. I have a massive bum and tiny waist and they all look shit with a bum exposed!

Fashion - according to DD it's these:

www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/bdg-indigo-rinse-boyfriend-jeans?category=womens-jeans&color=094&type=REGULAR&quantity=1

But that's all well and good if you are 16 with a waist. I'm sticking with high rise boot cuts

PuppyMonkey · 03/09/2023 11:33

Yep and I don’t think any of them look good. Grin

Zampa · 01/09/2023 22:27

Low rise, wide leg. Think 1990s and you'll be spot on. Must be on the floor (no ankles please).

Oh that reminds me I must dig out my 90s jeans/flared trousers.

Will prob need to hold my breath to get into them or stop eating for a while so they will fit! Grin

travelogue · 03/09/2023 11:56

@Mycatisthebestever 😂😂

TerfTalking · 03/09/2023 11:57

I have a pair of straight leg, a pair of bootleg and also a pair of ankle grazer flares, all bought from M&S in last six months. No one has looked at me oddly in any of them so I assume they’re fairly “in”.

MereDintofPandiculation · 03/09/2023 15:35

I wasn't talking about low rise jeans. Mid rise suit people best, with the waistband about an inch below the naval No you can’t say anything as sweeping as that. There is no one waistline that will suit everybody

Well, yes, that’s fine for you. Just how much of the figure of a 70+ apple shaped woman would you like to see?
