People chucking piss at gigs

Just came back from a gig at a local park. I’ve not been to a gig for ages and was really looking forward to it but the amount of people wasted and the amount of plastic cups of piss flying around really spoiled it. We were nowhere near the front so had quite a lot of space around us but still pissed people knocked in to us like a good few times.

I went and had two drinks, it was £10 a drink each and a no food or drink could be brought in with bag searches so people must have spent a fortune.

Am I just old and miserable or aibu to never go a gig ever again.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned T in the Park yet, or Pee in the Park as we renamed it.

My abiding memory is just men pissing everywhere, including flinging it in pint glasses. The whole site stank.

My highlight was sitting against a fence eating chips when a man came and pissed right next to me and a friend. I said 'You're digusting, can't you see we're eating' He said 'Where do you expect me to go' and I pointed to the loos that were just opposite with no queue.

It's like they just turn into animals. I'm sure they wouldn't piss next to their mum or girlfriend having their dinner

I went to a gig this summer and was shocked by the amount of yobbish behaviour like this. I love gigs but this made me seriously reconsider whether I want to bother with them.

I am too old to tolerate being shoved and jostled by 25 year old wankers showing off to their girlfriends and as for people throwing piss… there’s a special place in hell.

It tends to be laddish bands: Oasis (and the various spinoffs), Blur, Arctic Monkeys etc. Went to see Springsteen at BST and there was none of that. Urgh.

This is all utterly disgusting. Arrest them all zap them with a cattle prod!

I cannot get over people who talk loudly during the songs particularly the quieter songs.

Who goes to a gig to miss the best part of it talking nonsense to someone they have just met? Are they coked up? Drunk?

I think it’s naive to suggest that piss chucking would be an isolated and well hidden foible of an otherwise apparently polite and desirable man, rather than one of many obvious markers of a general tendency towards disguising inconsiderate scumbag behaviour.

Can someone please clarify what the OP meant? Are they chucking beer (beer/alcohol is often called 'piss' where I am) or are they chucking actual urine (like they pee in their empty cup and chuck it because they're too lazy/don't want to lose their spot)?

Can someone put me out of my misery and just tell me?

I've never been to a gig or a festival.
But how have I never heard of this before? Must have been living under a rock.

I suppose being showered in warm piss is the perfect metaphor for watching washed up has-beens like Noel Gallagher and his talentless brother.

Sadly a significant proportion of Brits are incapable of enjoying themselves without resorting to excessive quantities of alcohol, or coke, at which point their idea of enjoyment becomes ruining the enjoyment of others.

I got so used to the expectation of piss being given thrown in the UK. Then I moved to a different country. Never had it happen in Spain

Some do. I've been showered in beer, actual beer a few times but thankfully never urine. Some people should really only be allowed out on a leash.

Yep this always happened at V festival early 2000s, when you got hit by a cup you’d be happy if it was cold and therefore beer. Absolutely disgusting.
I’ve been at a festival today and there have been no queues for toilets which impressed me and no piss throwing. And there were big indie bands playing. Maybe we are moving on!

I don't find it acceptable to be coated in beer either btw but throwing urine is obviously even worse. I've stopped attending most gigs now because of the behaviour of others and because they're rarely disability friendly. I'll only attend now if it's of a certain type where things like this are unlikely to happen and I'll never go to a festival again.

A Matilda balloon, only for open air venues though of course.

@ImaginingDragonz Came here to say this too. Metal gigs always appear the most frenzied but I’ve never experienced people throwing anything let alone piss! Metalheads are the best- I saw a pit being stopped because someone had lost a shoe 😆

Can’t stand this - so disgusting. I also cannot get my head round people throwing phones/objects at the performers. Presumably people have paid for a ticket so why the need to abuse the performer?! Harry Styles got something chucked at him - near impossible to get a ticket but someone with a ticket does that! Something seriously wrong with people.

There were definitely people throwing piss at Download on the one occasion I was there. I also met multiple arseholes including a very gropey one while there. I've met plenty of arseholes at metal gigs.

I must have been lucky then, I’ve never had a bad experience! Only place I’ve ever seen people chucking piss was the Chili Peppers a long time ago. Rank.
