People chucking piss at gigs

Just came back from a gig at a local park. I’ve not been to a gig for ages and was really looking forward to it but the amount of people wasted and the amount of plastic cups of piss flying around really spoiled it. We were nowhere near the front so had quite a lot of space around us but still pissed people knocked in to us like a good few times.

I went and had two drinks, it was £10 a drink each and a no food or drink could be brought in with bag searches so people must have spent a fortune.

Am I just old and miserable or aibu to never go a gig ever again.

Yeah nothing new was happening when I was frequenting big outdoor gigs and big festivals years ago. It’s the bands that often attract the ‘lads mentality’ so oasis was one of them back in the day. Could be women or men I guess but I never saw women do it.

Its disgusting but impossible to stop in big crowds

It does seem to be the stone roses/oasis/bucket hat stuck in the early 90s blokes that are the main culprits for this. I was not at all surprised when OP said it was Noel.

We went to one at the old GMex Centre as it was back then and I remember the same thing happening - gross🤢

I agree..I am horrified and digusted by this. And worried now about my teen daughters when they start going to festivals. Absolute animals.

Utter rubbish. We have prisons full of men and relatively few women in prison in comparison. I’m not saying women are never disgusting or violent but it’s overwhelming men who are.

I agree. It’s just blinkered denial. Women are just as capable of being disgusting and/or as violent as men. It’s a character trait and not confined to one particular gender.

No trait is confined to either sex. But there are some behaviours where the perpetrators are overwhelming of one sex. This is one of them.
If you're a woman, why is that so uncomfortable for you to acknowledge? The acknowledgement that the people doing this are almost exclusively men, doesn't mean people are maligning all men and are going to suspect your Nigel of throwing his urine around. My DSs label this as male behaviour, but as they dont do it, don't see this as offensive to them.
(Not to mention, that If you're on a mission to defend men from sexism, the particularly disgusting sub set in this thread seems a less than deserving place to start.)

I've seen this many times, it's horrible. I've also seen men pee into a bottle, put cap on and throw it - and saw some poor woman get hit in the eye by it. She had to go to the medical tent. I've had warm liquid hit me in the back and splash up into my hair. It's so horrible. I never stand towards the front now because of the poor behaviour of pushing and throwing piss.

Agree also with being sick of people pissing anywhere they want, I hate trying to find somewhere to sit on the ground at a festival that's not covered in discarded mushy food or pee. Yuck.

At t in the park it was very common to hear someone pissing on your tent. One time I woke up to hear a man doing this and so I punched the tent wall and it hit him in the willy.

People are truly disgusting. The only thing worse than flying piss is the amount of spitting. I hate walking down the street trying to avoid the gobs of phlegm. 🤮

They do it because they can't be arsed to leave the gig/lose their space by going to a loo. So they piss in a cup then they throw it to get rid of it. It's utterly revolting. Happened to me at Leeds festival years ago and it's even worse knowing that you can't get a proper shower for a day or two. Really really grim.

Maybe they were unaware that they had a predisposition for throwing piss when they started sleeping with them. Im sure the piss throwing comes later in the relationship rather than a first date kind of thing.

At Notting Hill festival one time I saw a woman squatting on the pavement taking a dump. Right in the middle of the street. She was wasted obviously. But women are not inherently more civilised than men just because of their sex.

I know this happens and just pray I'm not in the firing line

I was at Reading on Friday and didn't see any bad behaviour, lots of very young teens running around. I did see an older guy chuck a cup, though reckon it was just the dregs in. He did look a bit shamefaced when he caught my stare

I’ve been to a few outdoor concerts in the last couple of years and haven’t fortunately witnessed piss being thrown. I however wouldn’t blame anyone, nor judge, if they pissed in a cup and sat it by their feet at one of these concerts and took it with them at the end of the concert and disposed of it. Or if they went and did it near a tree in a cup, and disposed of it straightaway. I say this, as the provision of toilets is ridiculous - not nearly enough. I was in a toilet queue for well over an hour at the last concert. There were a few women crying in the queue (I was on the edge of tears too), as they were in pain, and worried they wouldn’t be able to hold themselves. We shouldn’t be left in this position.

It’s just outrageous that we have to put up with this, especially since all food and drink has to be bought on site and is ludicrously expensive - on top of the high costs for the tickets. They could at least provide more toilets!

I go to on average 3 gigs a month. Inside & outside. Both men and women do this, it is certainly not just a male thing. We follow Noel round the country and see him about twice a year when he's on tour with NGHFB and it certainly isn't just an 'oasis thing'! Incidentally, I'm off to see him locally on Friday along with Happy Mondays and can more or less guarantee men and women will be doing it there. We also see Paul Heaton up and down the country when he's playing and his are the only concerts where iv never seen it happen.

Incidentally the only other time I’ve seen it as at a Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds gig

I think they should be fined heavily and banned for life from any gig or festival. People are paying hundreds of pounds for the experience and those organising gigs should be doing more to identify those concerned.

They should but how do you identify a piss thrower in a crowd of thousands? I'm not sure the police have the resources to DNA test the piss of everyone at a festival.

Why are you so intent on calling @agapanthus1979 out as a liar?

I have seen on a number of seperate occasions women pop a pint glass up a skirt. Unless they'd had incredibly amazing gender reassignment surgery they were both biological women.

I've also seen men and women throwing piss at gigs and festivals. Being a woman doesnt stop you being a filthy goblin.

Unfortunately, my festival and gig days where a whilse ago when I was lest forthright and terrified of causing a fight so didnt call anyone out on it.
