Worst damage your kid has ever done

Currently counting down the days til the DC go back to school. The constant mess is fraying the ends of my sanity. What's the worst mess or damage your DC has ever done.

Worst for me is my toddler DC did a massive poo on the floor and when I went to get stuff to clean it up with they repeatedly rammed their vtech toot toot elephant through it. Absolute carnage and huge tears when I wanted to throw it away. No it was. Not the carpet but getting all the poo out of the elephant and sanitising it.

Bring on September

I'm first!

My baby son must have been teething and bit into the upholstered arm of a massive sofa while sitting on my knee at someone's house. The fabric had been exposed to direct sunlight and was very thin and degraded, so the whole overstuffed arm just exploded with cotton fluff. So embarrassing and very expensive for me. (They weren't loose covers.)

I offered to pay towards the damage and blimey, it was expensive, but I felt I had to make amends. It was just one of those things - he didn't do anything wrong, I didn't do anything wrong and if the sofa fabric hadn't been so fragile it would have been OK. I wasn't working at the time and money was tight....

Scratched his name in 12 in high letters on the side of our old ford galaxy. Two doors and the wing wrecked

NotMadeOfStone · 23/08/2023 18:53

Fell off of their skateboard in the living room and pulled the radiator right off the wall...huge flood and hundreds of pounds to replace and repair.

Kids are great.

rosesinmygarden · 23/08/2023 18:55

Drew round every bit of the intricate pattern on our cream sofa with a fineline sharpie.

I wasn't sure whether to be angry or really impressed with their fine motor control!

We'd had the sofa for years before children. Our next one was a dark colour!

Broke the glass in my new neighbours brand new conservatory roof! Later found out that he had put a stone on top of a fire work we were about to let off. It was like a gun shot to the glass, and then it just shattered! He was 7!

Geneticsbunny · 23/08/2023 19:08

These are making me feel so much better... So far we are only down a couple of smashed phones/ tablets.

That's harsh they took the money off you @CoffeeCantata if it was so ropey anyway.

It reminds me of talking to a relative when one of the DC was running round their house. "Of course you have to pay if they break something..." half an hour later they picked up a piece of tat and threw it. No problems I'll find you another one. It was expensive discontinued Disney tat so got replaced with equally expensive equivalent rat.

When he was 5 he threw a pebble at a large window and it broke the day before we went on holiday!

Now he is 7, in a fit of enthusiasm for his orchid he decided to remove all the woodchips in the pot and shove them down the sink! We’ve managed to establish they aren’t stuck in the ubend but a lot further along the pipe 😡.

Readingineading · 23/08/2023 19:11

Launched his very heavy school bag down the stairs because he didnt want to carry it, lovely big hole in the downstairs loo door. He was 13 at the time and his brain hadnt caught up with his massive growth spurt and increased strengh 🙄

Scottishdreams1991 · 23/08/2023 19:16

My ds7 drew number 1s on his bedroom wall everywhere. He also broke our very expensive tv

HolyHellaciousHeck · 23/08/2023 19:17

Got overexcited at Build A Bear and foot activated the pedal for the stuffing blaster before the assistant was ready. Snowstorm of white fluff drifting down over a large portion of the shop and its wares...

HarlanPepper · 23/08/2023 19:18

remote control v flat screen TV. Luckily the insurance paid out.

bakewellbride · 23/08/2023 19:26

I know someone who is massively into make up and has hundreds of pounds worth of high end make up in her house. Her 7 year old destroyed almost all of it once. Smeared it all around etc, all ruined. Just awful.

😱 Why? 7 is a bit old for that...

Hormonal teen ds punched a mirror. Surgery and a nasty scar.. Tells people he was bitten by a shark saving his db...

Vinvertebrate · 23/08/2023 19:33

Stood on a chair and pissed into the back of my new TV. Little fecker.

Royalbloo · 23/08/2023 19:34

Throw it away!

OldandTired66 · 23/08/2023 19:34

It was a long time ago now, but kids fighting getting into the car while I was locking the front door. Kicked off the handbrake. Car sailed down the drive, across the road and demolished opposite neighbours front wall. £3000 to fix the car and £3000 to rebuild the wall if I remember rightly (thankfully insurance covered most of it). The thought it could have hit a passerby still gives me the terrors.

Tjjd2023 · 23/08/2023 19:36

Oh, I guess I have all this to come! Worst my 19 month old has done so far is scratched the TV screen by playing with his toys against it.

bakewellbride · 23/08/2023 19:38

@Thelonelygiraffe I know. And she is very gentle and 'couldn't stand the idea of telling him off'. So he basically got away with it. I'd have lost my shit completely 🤣

Ragwort · 23/08/2023 19:39

Teenager - left a tap running which of course overflowed all down the walls & landings ... DH had only decorated the week before Angry

Oh my god I think this wins 😳

ValentinaTheVampire · 23/08/2023 19:43

Painted a friend's new dressing table with nail polish. It was absolutely mortifying and yes, we insisted on replacing it

wutheringkites · 23/08/2023 19:44

Ruined my pelvic floor.

SisterAgatha · 23/08/2023 19:48

We just had a new wardrobe fitted. 7 year old pulled out a drawer with such force it came off its runners, 12 year old stepped backwards in shock - THROUGH the drawer.

we must have had it a week…
