Children on train seats!

It drives me mad when I see children over c6 yrs old not offering train seats to adults (esp older adults) standing in aisles on commuter trains (I have no problem with longer journeys when people have booked seats- but several commuter options you can't). When I was brought up we were expected to stand for elders. What is wrong with the world? AIBU??

Not all disabilities are visible, I have a teenager who looks a healthy young man but would not be able to stand for too long on a train due a medical condition. I would be furious if someone said anything to him to embarrass him about being respectful as he is a polite young man who would happily give up his seat if he could.

Just because you are older then someone it doesn’t mean that you are more entitled to something. Who ever gets there first gets a seat. If someone offers a seat then that’s a nice thing to do but shouldn’t be expected. If someone gets on and is unable to stand and needs a seat then it’s easy to ask a carriage not an individual ‘if anyone is able to give up their seat as I am unable to stand for the journey’ I’m pretty sure someone would give up their seat.
