Posting for traffic - DD forgot her medication and we’re at the airport

My DD (age 19) forgot both to take her antidepressant this morning, and to bring them with her. We’re about to board the plane to Amsterdam, going for a week. I tried phoning 111 and my GP, but neither could help (we were already through security).

Is there anything we can do when we get there to get an emergency prescription for her? If not the holiday is going to be a write off, I know from previous experience of her missing a day or two she gets awful withdrawals, and her dose has been upped recently so I’d imagine it’s going to be even worse. I realise any option is probably going to cost £££££ but I’d rather pay and save the holiday if possible.

Yes definitely cheaper than a taxi home for an hour each way and a new last minute flight 🤣🤣. Medication down the hatch for DD. Nearly at Efteling now, just stopped for some food. Thanks so much for all you help, to the people who were interested in helping.

I think this should be a lesson, that if your child is mentally a younger age, YOU should be the one looking after her medication. What a drip feed.

Vitriolinsanity · 18/08/2023 20:54

Away from home I tried Pushdoctor. It's an App. There's bound to be others. You give them access to your records, they email the scrip to a local pharmacy.

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 18/08/2023 20:56

I hope OP has cancelled the cheque and I am very glad its been sorted. What a really nasty thread this has been.

Vitriolinsanity · 18/08/2023 20:59

Apologies, I was so taxed by the cunting ness in the thread I hadn't got to OP's update.

Surely this is cancel the prescription rather than the cheque.

Have a lovely holiday OP. You've had your hiccup so that clears the decks for a great time.

megletthesecond · 18/08/2023 21:00

Christ 001 this is a depressed teen we're talking about here. Have a little dig around for some empathy maybe.

RTFT, this point has been made many times over. OP didn't ask for a fucking "lesson". She asked for a practical solution to a specific problem, which if you read the full thread you'd know has now been sorted.

So many posters have clearly never made a mistake in their lives.

SlashBeef · 18/08/2023 21:07

Apologies for my earlier suggestion that she go and catch up with you later in Amsterdam, that was before you'd said about her disability etc. I hope you have an enjoyable holiday Flowers

BotterMon · 18/08/2023 21:09

Glad you got it sorted. Enjoy the trip!

Notooserious · 18/08/2023 21:21

Wow, @strawberrymullercorner aren’t you just a lollipop triple dipped in venom like a few others on this thread. Unless you are a parent of a child with a disability you have no idea what the OP is trying to juggle and if you do, maybe you should share your incredible skills so that everyone else can discover why their lives have been so unnecessarily hard all this time. A whole bunch of people on this thread should be embarrassed for themselves.

OP, so glad you have got it sorted and hope you have a great time away.

I dont have any incredible skills to share unfortunately, I just don't rely on my child to remember her own medication when going on holiday 🤷‍♂️

Toddlerteaplease · 18/08/2023 21:35

I've never seen a boots with pharmacy in it at an airport!

MadisonAvenue · 18/08/2023 21:36

Really glad to see you got it sorted, have a lovely time!

ChrisPPancake · 18/08/2023 21:36

Would you believe it? I'm a grown ass adult (pushing 50) and I've just unpacked on arrival at holiday cottage and found that my migraine medication that I am sure I packed did not in fact come with me 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Hope mine is as easy to sort! Enjoy your hols @VeryGoodVeryNice SmileFlowers

MaitreKarlsson · 18/08/2023 21:42

Similar happened to me recently in Italy. Walked into a pharmacy and explained to the pharmacist. Done. No prescription required.
Perhaps not ideal but worth trying.

MaitreKarlsson · 18/08/2023 21:43

Ah see you've sorted OP - great!

I wonder what inspired him to travel so extensively whilst so young …… 🤔

This has really made me laugh…I wonder!!

Why?

Because he's a well loved, perfectly capable, bright, friendly, well adjusted adult? Yeah, what a truly fucking hideous mother I am. How awful giving him the skills he needs for life, how dreadful I am for giving him opportunities, how monstrous of me to let him grow into a kind, resilient, resourceful young man. I hang my head in shame.

Because he's not a little boy, and he wanted to see places, so why would I stop him? Who would stop an 18 and 19 year old travelling? Why wouldn't he explore the world when he's young, free and single etc?

Absolutelynotfornow · 18/08/2023 21:56

Op am so glad that you’re all sorted. I despair at how thick or uncaring some of the PPs have been!! I have a child on Sertraline and if he misses a dose he gets really unwell…and yes I have actually sent him tabs if he has run out. I have a few here for emergency purposes 😉

YouOKHun · 18/08/2023 22:05

Fuck me 001 are you really so obtuse? This entire thread is about someone else’s offspring. I’m just mentioning it because you don’t seem to have grasped that your input is entirely irrelevant and you seem to think that what your son would or wouldn’t do is somehow important. You seem to be getting off on being quite deliberately snide. Your son is well adjusted - good. What about you?

@VeryGoodVeryNice glad you’ve sorted it.

I was just wondering if it was to get away from you? Not many young men have such wanderlust or the finances to do it?

Feliz14 · 18/08/2023 22:19

Lol

biggreentree · 18/08/2023 22:20

@00100001 you are so mean.
