Well, well, well, no one saw that coming, but lets give it to the man, he really committed to the long con!

Or AIBU??

I think you're absolutely right. I love Britney and wish she could find someone who genuinely cares about her. She so deserves it

BBno4 · 17/08/2023 07:38

No, I think Britney got too much. All we know is that he filed divorce papers the other stuff from TMz are just rumours.

Britney hasn't got better since her freedom, she has gotten worse.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 17/08/2023 07:40

I think the truly awful bit is him saying reverse the pre nup or else I’m telling all. Clearly just in it for her money; as everyone else in her life has been .

FriendsDrinkBook · 17/08/2023 07:42

Britney is an absolute mess and needs help , quickly. But Sam seems really dodgy , their wedding looked fake. The entire situation is a car crash.

MadamWhiteleigh · 17/08/2023 07:57

Everything about Britney makes me feel sad. Talented and confident woman, seemingly a kind and nice person, totally undone by the pressure of fame and wealth.

SuperBurgers · 17/08/2023 07:57

This woman has been so failed. She is so ill, its sincerely troubling. And this grifter was only ever here to make a name for himself and get a healthy bank balance.

My colleague said "surely there cant be much more embarrassing to tell", given hes seen the social media that we have, I dread to think what hes suggesting. Theres a book deal in his future somewhere anyway.

She’s been failed and taken advantage of at every stage. Ideally she would be being looked after as such by an independent body. She’s clearly not well and hasn’t been for many many years but free Britney figured I’d they got rid of her dad it would be all sunshine and rainbows. With no after plan.

ExtraOnions · 17/08/2023 08:01

Where is the “free Britney” mob now. Maybe her dad had a point, and she needed someone to look after her money and actions. She’s very unwell, and now will probably end up being rinsed by this husband … what she doesn’t lose in a pay off she will lose in lawyers fees.

SuperBurgers · 17/08/2023 08:05

I dont think I agree with taking it out on the Free Britneys, she should never have been placed under that abusive conservatorship in the first place so ending it isnt the specific issue. The poor woman has been abused emotionally and financially since she was a young girl, heavily sexualised as a young teen. I dread to think of what shes been through. That she is bat shit crazy now is no surprise. I am embarrassed for her, I unfollowed her on Instagram as it was like watching a car crash. Why is no one there for her best interests?

OP posts:
JenniferBarkley · 17/08/2023 08:26

God love her.

I don't know what the way back is for her. The conservatorship seemed controlling to the point of abuse but I don't know what other way she could be protected.

Haven't read much about him but assume he's a complete lowlife.

FriendsDrinkBook · 17/08/2023 12:45

I agree with most of what's been said here , but I'm unsure that she's ever been nice. She calls her sm audience bitches and went after Selena gomez in a really nasty and obsessive way , she also eluded to the fact that she thinks Christina Aguilera is overweight. Horrible behaviour.

I don't think it matters if she's nice tbh. She's ill and has been used and abused her whole life. I doubt I'd be nice either.

Agree. She was obvs in the conservatorship of her father for a reason.

Dreemhouse · 17/08/2023 13:02

I loved Britney as a teen, I wanted to be her. I feel sad for her but I also don’t think she has helped herself. She doesn’t seem to think of her children when she posts videos of herself pole dancing. Regardless of all the things they have, nobody wants to see their mum doing that.

But her husband is truly awful. It feels like he was after her money from the start so you’re right OP, he’s been in it for the long game. She’s been abused by everyone who should have protected her.

Emmav2020 · 17/08/2023 13:45

having followed the free britney movement closely with being a huge britney fan from a young ago the whole marriage was questionable. Sam was picked out to 'look after britney' while her dad couldnt be around 24/7 and would report back with what was going on. i follow a few instagram accounts that upload all the legal documents from the courts. the best is known as 'santa spears' and he was behind the free britney movement. there was never a legal document for the marriage, well that could be found anyway. the woman behind the conservatorship is a woman called lu taylor and is driven by money and control (business manager to the kardashians) and her dad was just an abusive money man husband and father.

I think even if she’s not ‘nice’ shes still not deserving of the abuse and trauma she’s suffered and needs help.

FriendsDrinkBook · 17/08/2023 13:55

@Sparklesocks I agree.

Completely agree… he’s just a buffer and more handsome kfed. Used her to advance his own fame and to line his pockets, played the long game and oh look he’s got a tv show- what a shocker. You could sort of see through the facade, it came off similar to all of Hugh hefners young girlfriends and then wife who claimed to be head of heels with him… never sat quite right (obviously some very different power dynamics at play).

I absolutely loved britney as a teen/ young adult and I do think she is really talented but she’s just been sought on by leeches all around. From her family, her mum wrote a tell all on her, her dad milking her dry In the conservatorship (not saying she didn’t need some sort of tight structure but his salary v her allowance v the money she was earning was outrageous)
, kfed Who uses her to support his other kids and his wife, to Sam now. Even Justin (and at least their relationship was a somewhat even keel) used her name post breakup. She strikes me as she’s stuck in her teens/ 20s, like a naive girl just desperate to be loved.

Igotjelly · 17/08/2023 14:19

Unfortunately it feels as though this is all heading towards a very tragic conclusion, at which point the press and everyone else will wring their hands about how sad it is and how she was failed, once again spectacularly failing to recognise their part in it.

Sam is just another in a very long line of men abusing and grifting off of vulnerable women.

FriendsDrinkBook · 17/08/2023 14:24

I think we have to be careful not to infantilize Britney Spears , she's a mother of 2 in her 40s. Shee needs to sort herself out for the sake of her children , if not for herself. I'm sure many of us have suffered due to having an addict for a parent and children are having to watch this play out in public , it must be unbearable for them.

thebellagio · 17/08/2023 14:27

honestly I don't know what to believe.

I have always loved Brit.

I think in 2008 she absolutely needed the conservatorship but I also believe it went on too long, was too controlling and her dad was DODGY AS FUCK. I believe her when she says her dad should be in jail. He syphoned money from her, alienated her from any friends/support system - he's not a good guy

I always thought Sam was in it for the right reasons - he was there in the dark days long before they ever realised that she could escape from the conservatorship, so if it was a long con, it was a risky one at best. But I do think that he didn't know what to do in the last six-nine months since she's clearly spiralled out of control.

The rumours seem to be that she cheated on him.

I doubt he'll overturn the prenup - her lawyer seems rock solid, he's also not daft. He knows in the court of opinion it wouldn't look good for him to be seen to be taking her money (ahem, KFED moving to Hawaii....)

I feel really bad for her. She needs friends and a support system. BUt thanks to the conservatorship she's clearly terrified of getting any help or trusting anyone. And that's on her dad. He may have saved her life in 2008, but i think he may have caused such lasting damage to her now...

Emmav2020 · 17/08/2023 14:30

yes i was going to say she didnt grow up in the best of families and how famous she become so quick and so young her family were never going to keep her grounded and give her that 'normal' life away from performing and all that chaos. they milked her for everything, used her sons against her. if her dad really did care and love her he would have looked after her for free like any normal dad would. they only person who seemed to generally care about her was her longtime friend and assistant felicia

thebellagio · 17/08/2023 14:31

I agree with you @Emmav2020

BoohooWoohoo · 17/08/2023 14:31

I think her family are as bad as Sam. Very sad that everyone around her has taken advantage of her and that she doesn't even have a relationship with her sons that could help her in these difficult times.
