to shop in M&S kids? Tried on this playsuit in size 13-14 years, so not even the biggest size, and I've ordered it online for £20. Along with a stretch blue dress in the sale for £4.50.

I think with the right shoes and accessories, so much of the clothes for teens can be fine, especially for holidays.

Also, a little bit wtf. I don't think Zara Kids works quite the same size/age ratio......

13-16 year olds don’t wear children’s clothes do they?

littlepeaches · 12/08/2023 13:07

I have started to do this as I'm a size 4-6. Finding it hard to find clothes that fit me.

No not everyone is tall. Most people are of average height. But if a woman has gone through puberty she will have wide hips and curves even if still very slim and clothing designed for kids wouldn’t fit a proper developed woman’s body. This whole thread is weird. Like a collective boast about how skinny and under developed you all are. Very pro-Anna IMO.

You are wrong. I am of Asian heritage and we are often apple build with weight on belly not hips. Often short too. I would love bigger hips and a bum but it’s not going to happen as my weight goes on my belly. Don’t make assumptions and silly accusations.

When was the last time you saw a teenage girl?

My eldest is at a girls school and those who have the kind of underdeveloped kids figure you are referring to are definitely in the minority.

Stop it. You are just being purposely obtuse now.

Yes... kids clothes go up to around age 15. Do you think people are talking about fitting into 10 year old's clothes?

Lavenderflower · 12/08/2023 13:09

I have been doing this for years...

BungleandGeorge · 12/08/2023 13:09

tbh the whole VAT situation is quite annoying, I can buy kids but have had to buy adults for my kids since primary because they’re tall/ big feet!

DontBeBitterGlitter2023 · 12/08/2023 13:10

Im a 6/8 and just bought an age 11 Nike top for the gym 🤣

Slightly off topic but I have same figure, with giant boobs. Buying clothes - especially jeans - that fit my snake hips, little bum and apple tummy is a nightmare!

My dsc don't. They prefer the adult stuff

So you obviously know nothing about the sizes of children's clothes, but thought you would grace us with your opinions on women who have said that they wear them.Hmm

I'm not Asian but I have that body type too.

KirstenBlest · 12/08/2023 13:11

@Enfys1982 , I don't have 'wide hips and curves'. My body changed when I was a teenager, but not a huge amount. Clothes for a 14 yr old will be shaped for a teenager not a child. Young girls are going through puberty earlier.

The wearing children's clothes isn't a boast. I get caught out when raiding the men's sections, because things like jeans will be narrow on the hips., tops won't allow for a bosom, so if they fit, the cut will be wrong.

Newname211 · 12/08/2023 13:12

LadyKenya · 12/08/2023 08:53

I have been buying from the children's range for years. Some of the clothes for children are very big. I think that the clothes have gotten bigger personally, which is not necessarily a good thing.

I agree. I always wear a size down in M&S. their kids stuff is built like tents - my 8 year old needs an age 5 for the waist to fit her (even with an adjustable waist) but they are then too short in the leg. Some of their skinny fit stuff is okay. Crazy that they make a range with even more generous sizes considering how huge things already are 😳

(my kid eats like a horse and is not particularly skinny, but is quite petite in general)

Mumsday · 12/08/2023 13:12

Can we agree to ignore any posts trying to derail this thread and make it about food?

They’re just looking for a response from the women they hate.

wildthingsinthenight · 12/08/2023 13:17

Also the kid's shoes go up to a 6.
I often look in the girls section for shoes.
Not anywhere near an 8 to 10 dress size but my shoe size is 5.5

KirstenBlest · 12/08/2023 13:18

Can I advise everyone on this thread to not go past the M&S Food Hall without having a look round. I find the bakery section particularly good.

mainbrochus · 12/08/2023 13:20

If you have wide feet and like warm shoes then I commend Ugg children’s range. I buy the boys’ boots and they are great, waterproof and warm

That reminds me, I need to pop in to get some coleslaw to go with my dinner tonight.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 12/08/2023 13:22

I brought my 5ft7 size 8-10 18 year old dd an aged 15-16 Percy pig onesie. It was half the price of the adult ones and the same size.

no brainier really.

KirstenBlest · 12/08/2023 13:22

Mmm. Yum.
Off to look at some online children's clothes instead of fantasising about ice-cream and eccles cakes.

WhosAfraidOfVirginalWolves · 12/08/2023 13:25

Beezknees · 12/08/2023 09:34

I do this. I'm a size 3 in shoes. It's great for stuff like Doc Martens that are half the price for kids ones. It's really strange that I have such small feet as I'm average height, just under 5'5. Everyone always comments on them!

Snap! Very average height and build, but with tiny feet (size 2) and hands. I must have saved a fortune in shoes over the years.

oakleaffy · 12/08/2023 13:29

M&S sizes are VAST.

I bought a size 12, {I'm 5'8'' and 9st 10 lbs} and the size 12 cargo trousers fall down unless I use a belt.

It's ''Vanity sizing'' gone mad!

Yellowlegobrick · 12/08/2023 13:32

I did this for years until mid twenties. I was wearing age 13/14 salopettes at age 25 and i wasnt that thin - a size 10 and weighing about 9 stone.
