Does she think she's a turtle? Stupid, selfish people.

😂😂😂🐢

Marwoodsbigbreak · 11/08/2023 16:47

Yes, and her eldest daughter is home looking after her 8 year old.

Or something.

DisquietintheRanks · 11/08/2023 16:28

Other than money, which the foreign office dont provide, how much help do they actually need?

They need (and it appears have received) information on how to establish British nationality (and get a travel document) for an infant who has no birth certificate.

They say they are awaiting the results of the DNA test, so I'm really not sure what else they expect until that has happened.

They have not been abandoned - they are going through the normal processes, and it their own responsibility (and their insurers, if they had a suitable policy) to pay for whatever length of stay is required.

Dixiechickonhols · 11/08/2023 16:48

A British passport renewal for an 8 year old wouldn’t take long. They had months to sort it.
Suspect more to it as another poster has suggested eg child isn’t Clive’s she’s from previous relationship and has a foreign passport.
If they were trying to get baby a none British passport there’s nice beaches in Ireland.
No doubt they’ll do a book or documentary so tale will eventually come out!
Mind really does boggle.
Hopefully it is their baby not child trafficking.

Jamtartforme · 11/08/2023 16:48

Nothing about this adds up.

  1. Why go to such a specific far flung place?
  2. Did the airline query her gestation or request a medical note? Or did she… not appear pregnant?
  3. She ‘meant to give birth on a beach but her waters broke at sea’. Right out at sea, where nobody could witness the birth… hmmm. Even if her waters broke at sea, still time to turn back for the beach, unless she has a 30 minute labour which while not impossible, is unlikely.
  4. She needed no medical assistance at all, and neither did the baby… apparently.
  5. The baby weighed 3kg at birth they said. I’m surprised they had suitable scales on board, the birth on the boat being accidental and all that.
  6. They ‘waited a few days’ to register the birth rather than within the 24 hours as required. Why wait? So the mother seemed… less like she had given birth lately?
  7. They didn’t bring the other daughter. Surely any beach birth hippy worth their salt would have their other long suffering kid there to spectate? How can she not have a passport if being abroad feels so natural and right to them?
  8. Even an idiot planning this would look up the paperwork requirements before going. Seems like they’re playing the hippy dippy card to try to pull off whatever they’re trying to pull off.

The thought crossed my mind too, and if it turns out she has had no antenatal care in the UK and there is no medical signs of her recently giving birth there will be huge alarms bells going off in both countries. I won't be surprised if there is more to this story as the alternative is they are really just that stupid!

I hope the DNA tests have been done on both parents and samples taken in a controlled supervised environment.

Wouldn’t be surprised if someone who opted for a birth like this opted out of antenatal care too. I listened to a podcast with someone who did just that recently. Seems wild to me but my little one had a safe arrival because of a medicalised birth and pregnancy.

Although I do think this story is a bit dodgy to say the least!

What kind of name is Iuliia anyway. Attention seeking twonks! misses point of thread.............

I'm assuming it's Eastern European.

notimagain · 11/08/2023 16:55

Testina · 11/08/2023 16:41

Another theory…

Plan A was Martinique, right?
French Overseas Territory.

I reckon they wanted to give Baby Louisa more economic opportunities and get her an EU passport in future.

Poor Iuliia and Clive. They probably had their heart set on Skegness until Brexit fucked their plans 🤣

Not sure that idea would work either...

"Attribution by birth in France, or “jus soli”
A child born in France, where one or both parents were born in France, is French.
Simply being born in France only guarantees attribution of French nationality for children born to unknown or stateless parents, or to foreign parents who haven’t passed on their nationality to their child.

GenieGenealogy · 11/08/2023 16:56

Why should the Consulate be trying to expedite a DNA test?

Of course they shouldn't. The British Consulate also can't get third party nations like St Lucia and Grenada to bend/change their rules on registering births. The consulate can ADVISE on what the regulations are. Language is not a barrier here, even if the woman has English as a second language, she is resident in the UK with a native English speaking husband.

Agree that the process has been drawn out because for whatever reason they decided to ditch St Lucia before the registration was complete there, and turn up in Grenada.

FadeAwayAndRadiate · 11/08/2023 16:58

They are absolutely ridiculous. I thought everyone knew of the pitfalls of having a baby in another country - when you are in the UK - as it can compromise their identity/nationality. Bloody idiots the pair of them!

LateSummerLobelia · 11/08/2023 16:59

Testina · 11/08/2023 16:25

Oh Clive.

On the birth at sea.

From a different news outlet, “The sea gives off a frequency which is a natural painkiller. It was so much less painful for her.”

I mean, I’m both a hypnobirther and an open water swimmer… I still say: fuck off Clive 🤣

Can you imagine both being in labour and being seasick?

Ugh.

There are so many holes in this story.

PriamFarrl · 11/08/2023 16:59

Stupid sods. With stuff like this I always notice that the man is notably old than the woman.

Am I the only person amused by the suggestion the baby needs a DNA test when she's the spitting image of her father?
Pretty irresponsible parenting. They were lucky there were no emergencies during the birth. They've left their 8 year old temporarily without parents because of their own stupidity, but they could have left her without a mother at all.

I think its bloody good they are saying she needs to do a DNA because there are no witnesses to the birth.

Otherwise they could just be child trafficking. Never mind issues over which passport the baby is entitled to.

The idea that she could just rock up and deliberately give birth without any medical involvement is also one that merits Social Services getting involved when she gets back too.

Women who give birth unattended by accident are one thing but to do it deliberately is not clever. A homebirth with a midwife is a world apart from this shit. And potentially has safeguarding implications (again trafficking being on the list) for fucking off and leaving your child and for deliberately endangering the life of the other. When I was pregnant and asking for a ELCS, there was a long conversation about mental health and women who deliberately try and give birth alone without medical assistance (and basically - don't attempt it because its a massive red flag and we will get Social Services involved).

What the fuck did they think would happen if she got into trouble in labour too? It doesn't make sense. Not with leaving the daughter at home because they 'forgot to renew it'. Well I suppose 'forgetting to check the paperwork you need when giving birth abroad' is consistent with that level of fuckwittery. But yeah it all seems very 'off'.

Maybe THEY intended to sell the baby, and the sale fell through rather than them getting a baby on the blackmarket cheap.

I love how they think the Foreign Office should be doing more to get them back too. Well no, its a mess of your own making, they cant speed things up, you know what you need to do to prove you are the parents and the Foreign Office are NEVER financially responsible for getting you home in situations of fuckwittery (And this case proves why they don't pay otherwise every fuckwit and his dog would do stupid shit for months, spend a fortune and then scream HELP to get a free ride home!)

millymog11 · 11/08/2023 17:01

why am I not one iota surprised that there is a 13 year age gap between the parents?
talk about old fogie 51 year old does whatever the 38 year old female partner says she wants to do.....
its a tale as old as the hills, there is no fool like an old fool.

LovedmyRaleighChopper · 11/08/2023 17:02

Pair of feckless imbeciles. The feelings of “trauma and abandonment” they complain of rightly belong to the daughter they left behind, not them. No sympathy whatsoever.

Testina · 11/08/2023 17:02

@notimagain I was joking really. I don’t think for a moment this pair of muppets would have planned anything 🤣

GreggingIt · 11/08/2023 17:05

Absolute idiots.

No sympathy whatsoever apart from for their other child (and the one just born). Let’s hope for their sake this pair don’t have any other ‘good ideas’.

pickledandpuzzled · 11/08/2023 17:06

Need an intelligence test as well as a dna test.

How the hell did they get there with her that heavily pregnant?

Fancy leaving your 8 year old at a time of maximum stress for her anyway. Talk about feeling less important and pushed out by the new arrival...

NotAnotherPylon · 11/08/2023 17:07

Is that what passes for a natural birth these days? Getting sand up yer jam roll in the Caribbean?

Plonkers.

DysonSpheres · 11/08/2023 17:07

FluffyDiplodocus · 11/08/2023 16:40

This story really annoyed me, I don’t think they’re going to get much sympathy from anyone over their idiotic decision tbh! I mean giving birth on a beach is just stupid. Travelling across the globe to do so just makes no sense! They’re so lucky nothing went medically wrong. I’m all for women aiming for births with lower interventions / home births etc, but giving birth on a beach at the other side of the world is not in the baby’s best interests (or their oldest child’s for that matter, poor kid) and is a very selfish decision on their part.

You're being very straight-laced and pragmatic. Think about all the future gloaty story telling possibilities at the soft play centre, one o'clock clubs, antenatal clinics smd primary school drop-offs/pickups!

We had the most beeaaautiful birth on a carribbean beach. We were going to choose Martinique, but the weather was cloudy so we took a little ship and sailed to St Lucia.....when she was born she didn't even cry. No it barely hurt at all, I felt so one with nature that's why her second name is Azure....I'll give you my Instagram handle so you can see the pictures!

There’s something weird about this story, I’m not buying it; was there some kind of secret surrogacy arrangement or something?

👆this

Zebedee55 · 11/08/2023 17:08

If this dopey pair wanted a beach birth (🙄), we have plenty of beaches here.

RoadSignFool · 11/08/2023 17:09

megletthesecond · 11/08/2023 16:27

Did they actually go to Mustique? I didn't think mere mortals were allowed to just turn up?
I agree with possibly surrogacy or even drugs.

Martinique, not Mustique. The French overseas territory, not Princess Margaret’s private island.
