That’s totally different. It’s literally a handful of 8 yr olds that board in Uk often due to disability or educational needs ie no local suitable school. With consent forms that school are in loco parentis eg for medical care etc. If they couldn’t even sort a passport renewal I doubt they’ve sorted anything formally.
This child is effectively being fostered by her auntie.

You have no idea what you're talking about. There are tons of prep schools in the UK that have boarders from age 8, or age 7. Should we send SS to all of them?!

The (poor) child is with a close relative. She's probably safer with her aunt, than with her fuckwit mother!

Dixiechickonhols · 11/08/2023 16:17

I’m hoping auntie 24 is most sensible of the lot and 8 yr old is having a nice summer holidays.
I wonder if part of it is not seeing the newborn baby as a separate entity. Some mums refer to first few weeks as 4th trimester, planning for baby to be breastfed/baby wearing and not realising that once born baby is a separate human and needs their own documentation.

KettyMcBetty · 11/08/2023 16:17

Bet they are anti-vaxers too.

If any of this is true I feel so sad for the 8yr old. My girl is 9 and she would struggle to be away from me for more than a week. Just thinking about it and her distress upsets me.

Idiotic, conceited pair of pricks.

That may well be @Qbishy, but we can never ever discount the attachment a child feels towards their mother - even if mother is a crap one.

Child is probably absolutely fine but can’t just assume.
All ok child stays with auntie.
Let’s just say ss don’t check anything, child later is found neglected or dead. It’s in the press that both her parents are abroad and have been for months the authorities can’t just ignore that.

Testina · 11/08/2023 16:25

Oh Clive.

On the birth at sea.

From a different news outlet, “The sea gives off a frequency which is a natural painkiller. It was so much less painful for her.”

I mean, I’m both a hypnobirther and an open water swimmer… I still say: fuck off Clive 🤣

hockeygrass · 11/08/2023 16:25

Possible scenarios:
Dd aged 8 in U.K. doesn't have a U.K. passport hence difficultly to "renew" it.

Since 8 year old was born couple have married hence refereed to in press as "British couple".

There is an issue with the baby getting a British passport hence they moved abroad for the birth and hoped to side step as loophole.

Clive will almost certainly have ex-partners, children, parents, parents of ex-partners who are currently negotiating with press to sell their story!

megletthesecond · 11/08/2023 16:27

Did they actually go to Mustique? I didn't think mere mortals were allowed to just turn up?
I agree with possibly surrogacy or even drugs.

Ponderingwindow · 11/08/2023 16:28

Even best case scenario, birth certificate to passport, they can’t have expected to have traveled home with baby immediately. I’m undecided on scammers vs just incredibly dumb.

Making poor decisions is not a reason for the government not to help people through bureaucratic processes. Thick Britain’s, naive Britains, are still citizens and entitled to support.

Other than money, which the foreign office dont provide, how much help do they actually need?

hockeygrass · 11/08/2023 16:31

Yes agree with drug mule trip that went wrong.

Men called Clive are just not designed to be new age hippy influencers.

Clive should have stayed at home and polished his Rover.

😂

Janieforever · 11/08/2023 16:37

I just read about this and can’t fathom the utter, utter stupidity of these people. And not just wanting to give Birth on a beach in a poverty Stricken developing Caribbean country with no medical help.

But they didn’t even research what to do and can’t even afford it and obvs wanting hand outs.

They didn’t even get their older kid a passport and dumped her on 24 year old aunt. As they jetted off for what they knew could be months on an open ended ticket.

it’s really quite shocking.

They were never going to Mustique.

They’d chosen a beach in Martinique.
But then decided the weather wasn’t what they wanted (for Instagram?) so they got a boat and headed for Grenada to another beach they fancied. Then she fucked up the whole plan by giving birth on the boat, at sea. Which was still amazing and she connected with nature and the sea (according to Clive, removing his tin hat to explain) has a frequency that relieves pain. Happy days. This birth-at-sea took place off St Lucia, which is where the less-Insta worthy beach of Rodney Bay comes in. A red herring, if you get herring in the Caribbean? So they landed in St Lucia. Decided to abandon the registration process 2 months later to fuck off to Grenada, the original Plan B beach.

I suspect part of the delay in getting “help” is they moved countries whilst this was in progress. And it sounds like they may have been in waters belonging to St Lucia at the time of the birth-at-sea, in which case they’ve moved the baby out of the country where she was born. If so, I daresay that adds it’s own administrative headache. Can Grenada register a baby born in St Lucian waters? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm stuck with the turtle image in my head from previous poster
🤣🤣🤣

FluffyDiplodocus · 11/08/2023 16:40

This story really annoyed me, I don’t think they’re going to get much sympathy from anyone over their idiotic decision tbh! I mean giving birth on a beach is just stupid. Travelling across the globe to do so just makes no sense! They’re so lucky nothing went medically wrong. I’m all for women aiming for births with lower interventions / home births etc, but giving birth on a beach at the other side of the world is not in the baby’s best interests (or their oldest child’s for that matter, poor kid) and is a very selfish decision on their part.

AbsoluteYawns · 11/08/2023 16:40

Some fine parenting choices made here...what a pair of utter pathetic people. They don't deserve kids.

BrawnWild · 11/08/2023 16:41

Thisismyartform · 11/08/2023 14:28

They should have done their research. And I am not a fan of the whole ‘birth experience’ movement. But the British consulate should be offering them more help and getting that DNA test asap. We British do seem to be utterly crap at getting help our citizen’s overseas. People who’ve made poor decisions do need help too.

Why should the Consulate be trying to expedite a DNA test? This is the definition exaplile of someone's poor planning not being someone else's emergency.

Travel insurance explicitly forbids travelling abroad to give birth.

They made a wilfully stupid choice.

Any moron would consider the "what ifs". No doubt they were so convinced that all you have to do to have the "perfect", "natural" birth is to believe it will happen. Maybe they should just have more faith now...

Her and her child are lucky that the baby was born safe and well and that they arent in hospital racking up thousands more in hospital bills.

Testina · 11/08/2023 16:41

Another theory…

Plan A was Martinique, right?
French Overseas Territory.

I reckon they wanted to give Baby Louisa more economic opportunities and get her an EU passport in future.

Poor Iuliia and Clive. They probably had their heart set on Skegness until Brexit fucked their plans 🤣

Clarabe1 · 11/08/2023 16:45

Best of luck to their kids! I hope there is a half sensible grandparent or someone else around to me keep an eye on them.

FadeAwayAndRadiate · 11/08/2023 16:45

Is that her dad with her?

Marwoodsbigbreak · 11/08/2023 16:45

I’m not sure I believe their story to be honest.

Fucking idiots either way.
