To not shower in the morning?

mysavinggrace123 · 08/08/2023 19:56

If I could, I would have two showers, AM & PM, but tbh I actually can't afford to do this due to water bill.

I simply couldn't get into clean bed sheets of an evening not showered. (Only exception if sheets are due a wash)

But I feel horrible when I haven't showered in the morning.

Do you always shower in the morning?

Does anyone wash their hair every morning ?

I used to when I had a job where I was meeting with corporate clients every day. Don’t know i did it now. Shower hair wash blow dry straighteners and full face of slap by 7.30 every morning.

Now I works mainly from home I still bath or shower at least once every day but only wash hair every 3rd day unless I’m going out

People who don’t shower in the morning do have a smell. They don’t seem to be aware of it.

completely agree! I find that they either smell or they pile on perfume to hide the smell. One thing I never understand is that people will wash their face twice a day but object to washing their bum twice a day!!

I shower twice a day. If you wash in PM only, what happens if you’re intimate during the night or have your period?

DappledThings · 08/08/2023 23:11

Sometimes morning, sometimes evening. Depends if I've been for a swim or if kids are having a bath. If they are and it's my night for bedtime I'll usually jump in the shower (separate walk-in in same room) at the same time. Not if I'd showered that morning though.

I'd feel really OTT and a bit silly showering twice in the same day unless I'd got filthy gardening or something.

Fizbosshoes · 08/08/2023 23:21

I'm intrigued how people can definitely tell someone smells because they only showered last night and not in the morning?

I'm agog people don't shower in the morning. Unless you have a manual job, but an office job and no shower before is 😮to me!

Why? I'm clean. I get up, wash my face and hands, clean my teeth
6hrs earlier I'll have scrubbed myself with soap and applied antiperspirant, I'm no less clean that someone is who showered at 8am is at 2pm. I wash everything from in between my toes to ears to belly button so probably cleaner than someone who might shower twice a day but never washes their feet

Sometimes I wonder why I bother about saving water and cutting down on gas/electric use and other things when people are showering twice a day and saying it's rank not to

Bonfire23 · 08/08/2023 23:30

You can also use a bidet bottle to freshen up without having a shower, handy if you're on your period and uses way less water

I wear the same amount of perfume whether Ive showered or not, so you definitely DEFINITELY would not be able to tell.
I dont forgo perfume because Ive showered! Nor do I know anyone who does!!

I also dont shower daily. Every other day for me, washing hair every other time.

I prefer to shower before starting my day, but if Im working early in the morning, then I will either shower before bed or after I get home from work, as Id rather sleep an extra 10 minutes.

Why would it be different when you shower regarding your period?!

PeggyPoggle · 08/08/2023 23:43

I'm laughing at all the people who can't get into bed without showering first. If you're that bothered, wash your bed sheets once a week. Or never, since your bed sheets will be really clean if you shower every night right? They'll never need washing then?!

Honestly. Are you also the people who wash their bath towels after every use too?

Upwiththelark76 · 08/08/2023 23:50

Always shower at night before bed . Nothing g line going to bed clean and fresh washing away the grime of the day .

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/08/2023 23:54

On work days I absolutely have to shower in the morning or I would be like the walking dead. Sometimes I have a second shower or a bath in the evening. Today I had a big work thing blow up (despite being on holiday) and had that anxious sweat going on, plus a long dog walk, so it was a definite two shower day.

fitofthegiggles · 08/08/2023 23:59

I'm definitely a morning showerer. It's part of my waking up routine, just like that first cup of tea. Gets me feeling refreshed, feeling clean, awake and ready for the day.

Never before bed though. Other than washing hands and face, cleaning teeth etc. Also I make sure I'm scrupulously clean after using the loo etc. At bedtime I just don't feel I'm dirty, smell or anything like that. I just don't think it's necessary and I'm usually too tired and just fall into bed and to sleep. DP is the same.

Typical Mumsnet: 2 showers a day, no heating on in the winter if the thermostat shows over 12 degrees, changing bed sheets at least (!) weekly, earning 60k or more 😂

I don't even shower every day!

2 showers a day unnecessary and waste of water

HalloumiLuvver · 09/08/2023 00:45

I don’t know how anyone can go to bed unwashed, doesn’t your bedding smell of sweat and dirty feet?

As I tend not to plough through mud barefoot, funnily enough no. How "dirty" can the average female's feet get in a day? Especially if living an average fairly sedentary western lifestyle.

I shower every morning as it wakes me up and helps me feel fresh and ready for the day. But I can understand the evening showerers too, especially after exercise/small children.

Showering twice a day is nuts. I assume that people who do this are either overweight, excessively sweaty, or mentally unwell.

I personally wouldn't want to have sex at say 10pm if I hadn't showered since 6:30am. Surely nobody wants to get up close and personal after that long? Then, once you've had sex at 10pm, nothing is going to smell delightful at 6/7 the next morning before work.

I consider it being fresh, rather than 'mentally unwell'

Hivaluegirl · 09/08/2023 01:40

I bath before bed so don't bother unless I'm meeting friends. I'm self employed so in the morning I work alone in an office nobody smells me

SheerLucks · 09/08/2023 06:07

Not at all. We're not sweaty and don't have smelly feet.

Dacadactyl · 09/08/2023 06:19

I think the 2 showers a day crowd must be excessively smelly/sweaty or something.

I generally shower once a day but can go 2 days without one if I'm not exercising. Only on the third day do I notice that I start smelling and even then its not terrible. I suspect I'd have to go a week without a shower before it was noticeable to anyone else.

MissCalamity · 09/08/2023 06:23

I always shower in the evenings, will occasionally shower in the morning if I feel a bit sweaty.

Same here. Just how sweaty are you if you can't go more than a few hours without needing a shower?

WaltzingWaters · 09/08/2023 06:29

Unless you get super sweaty at night or have had some wild sex, no need to shower in the morning if you’ve showered before bed. It’s not good for your skin or the environment to shower too much.

I generally shower before bed and very rarely in the morning. I love feeling clean and comfy once I get home in the evening.

maddiemookins16mum · 09/08/2023 06:34

I only shower of a morning. It’s part of my going to work routine. Getting into a clean bed unshowered surely only applies the first time anyway.

Fizbosshoes · 09/08/2023 06:46

In my entire working life (27 years) I've had 1 colleague that smelled awful. The others either I didn't notice anything or they smelled strongly of soap/aftershave. And one smelled because they smoked.

Having not asked or surveyed anyone on their washing habits I couldn't tell you, or guess how frequently they showered, and no one has ever asked me!
