"If they don't like barges they should fuck off back to France". 30p Lee Anderson of course, not the BNP. Not the National Front or whatever their current name is. The Chairman of the Conservative Party. Supporters must be so proud. What a statesman. So Churchillian.

Sadiq Kahn a Labour Party mayor is responsible for the EXTENSION of ULEZ and now it’s going to cover pretty much all of London.
Other labour councils are now considering rolling it out in their areas. Most of those areas do not have tubes, trams and a working bus network 🙄

Leaked letter shows Govt urged Khan to expand ULEZ

Grant Shapps has urged Keir Starmer to "get off the fence" and tell Khan to stop the ULEZ expansion. That's not what he was saying in 2020.

I wrote to my (Labour) MP to see what their answer was to the immigration problem and was told that;

Labour would "fast track claims from Albania and other safe countries"

This is nothing new.
In 2003 under Michael Howard, the Government introduced a Detained Fastrack System that had a refusal rate of 99% from 2008/10.
It was suspended in 2015 following a succession of successful legal challenges.

They could not explain how a Labour Government could surmount these challenges.

They would design an Elite Unit within the National Crime Agency to crack down on criminal gangs further upstream.

And that was it folks.

So to say that they haven't got a plan, could be quite accurate.

jgw1 · 09/08/2023 07:41

That's not possible, because I was reliably informed by a poster who tells us to trust them that Labour has no policies on immigration.

Funnily enough they just announced on radio 4 that someone from labour is coming on to talk about what they would do.

but a Labour government in the current the global and political climate is going to be an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions - seemingly people are unaware.

People can’t imagine the change that’s coming, how many will be angry when they recall the overturned policies, a fair few. Not those who are very loyal but most people aren’t, threads like this aside

Agreed.

The unions in cahoots with Labour unleashed as many strikes as possible to create the feeling that nothing works and everything is broken for political purposes.

Hoping to fool the nation into believing this is a government led crisis, when in fact it was a perfectly planned campaign for political reasons, to try and force in a Labour government. It is also backed by people like our ‘unbiased’ civil servants such as party gate chief and executioner Sue Gray and others now openly on the Labour payroll.

It’s a total political stitch up - a national gas lighting exercise of epic proportions.

I agree, you get the die hards on here. In reality there is real disquiet given the backdrop how it is that Labour have still
not won over the northern heartlands. Nor close to convincing 51% of women that we have a right to exist.

I think all the parties are totally shit in different ways, but a Labour government in the current the global and political climate is going to be an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions - seemingly people are unaware.

How do you know a labour gov would be an unmitigated disaster? Apparently they don't have policies. And frankly the idea they would be any worse than the current shit show is laughable.

The government dictates the standards that local councils etc have to fufil with regards clean air quality ?

The government didn’t ‘crash the economy’ the twin issues or the invasion of Ukraine, the pandemic debts have created the impact we are experiencing today, and any party would have faced the same. Together with the decisions by the Bank of England.

Incorrect.

Yes we had issues from the pandemic. That was worldwide.

However Truss insistence on lowering taxes created this situation because we were no longer seen as fiscally sensible and people wouldn't take risks with their money here.

It was very well published at the time.

She made a bad situation worse.

And some of the pandemic debt was caused by government giving their mates contracts they couldn't fulfil - for example (unusable) PPE we are still paying China to store.

Then there's the £11m of deny caused by the then Chancellor - now PM - forgetting to insure some borrowing.

We are going to see a mass exodus of the most highly educated professionals in living history of Starmer wins. Trust me.

Interesting because I know lots of high achieving professionals needed to run the country - they were called keyworkers 3 years ago - who are desperate for Labour to get in 🤷‍♀️

Disquiet will increase if numbers keep going up

Will it? If those increased numbers give us more workers in health and social care? We’re haemorrhaging people who work in that field, we need to replace them.

Increased numbers on boats will give us ready to go healthcare and social workers?

You need to use targeted work visas for that

Blossomtoes · 09/08/2023 08:08

Says the poster who attempted to gaslight us into thinking ULEZ was a Labour initiative and that Truss didn’t crash the economy.

Dymaxion · 09/08/2023 08:08

The UK Government's Environment Act 2021 requires the Government to set legally binding environmental targets for England in four priority areas including air quality, as well as an additional target on fine particulate matter (PM2.5), as this is considered to be the air pollutant of greatest harm to human health.

So why dis the Tories win in Johnson’s seat? Sadie is ramming ULEZ through in London not the conservatives!!!

It won’t last. There are so many people invested in overturning policies but they are way more committed than your average voter, public sector maybe aside

We don’t have a complete state media though and numbers are only going up due to climate crisis

I didn’t mention social workers.

There are already qualified healthcare workers here who aren’t allowed to work. I think that’s pretty scandalous when the NHS is in crisis, don’t you?

That's the most accurate description of the current Tory party on this thread.

I salute you

But they don't have an open door policy.

That's just right wing rhetoric.

The same as all the right wing lawyers who call lawyers lefties because they defend court cases.

Everyone ignores the fact that our Home Secretary inciting this hatred is a lawyer herself and has has even said on occasions she knows she can't win these cases.

She just decides to say it's because of the lawyers against her rather than admit it's because human rights exist.

I know this is from the DM, somehow the Guardian seem to have missed it. A Labour councillor who is a lawyer is offering help to illegal immigrants/ overstayers. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12371411/Labour-councillor-accused-offering-help-illegal-migrants-stay-UK-online-video.html

Labour councillor accused of offering to help illegal migrants

Irim Ali, who sits on Newcastle City Council, offered to help submit applications to the Home Office on behalf of overstayers and anyone without a valid visa, using human rights laws.

If you are

Female
Have female children
drive a car
wish for a warm house in winter
Need a school place
live in the country
more anywhere with limited transport links
Require energy of any kind
Are a tax payer

Anyone sitting in any of these categories will be completely screwed under Labour

They are up to their necks having taken money and massive donations from the trans lobby and eco mob will have no choice but to deliver for them.

Healthcare and social care. Same situation. You need work visas not people from boats.

CloudyMcCloud · 09/08/2023 08:16

Listening to Labour. Jesus

They will ‘crack down on gangs’ and process claims quickly so more people think yes that looks a good bet

They may as well put posters up saying we disagree with rising water levels

Movement of people and rising water levels both inevitable. Fark
