"If they don't like barges they should fuck off back to France". 30p Lee Anderson of course, not the BNP. Not the National Front or whatever their current name is. The Chairman of the Conservative Party. Supporters must be so proud. What a statesman. So Churchillian.

ULEZ was dreamed up by another metropolitan elite leftie with no idea of life outside of SW1. Same as all the other London Labour policies. They have literally never stepped foot outside of the M25.

It will fast track the county’s decline.

Are you refering to Boris Johnson, who announced the plans for London's ULEZ?

#it is a sign of how far right the Tory party is that he considered a leftie.

Blossomtoes · 09/08/2023 07:39

EllenVannen · 09/08/2023 07:36

True.
And he did raise the tone of the Labour Party by punching people in the street.

He punched a guy who smashed an egg on him. It seemed like a pretty human reaction to me, most people at the time seemed to think so.

This situation is not going to go away, and there is going to be a lot of memory holes of calling someone an -ist for opposing the simple solution.

There’s so much push back against policies atm, looking at the link below with Labour’s response to the recent bill they are going to find it tough. They will have opposed any action and their approach will be fairly pointless against rising numbers.

Many are probably loyal to their party, maybe posting, but I’d say a fair amount are not. It’s not going to be pleasant. Pp who mentions Aus, Canada, NZ etc might have the best idea.

I agree, you get the die hards on here. In reality there is real disquiet given the backdrop how it is that Labour have still
not won over the northern heartlands. Nor close to convincing 51% of women that we have a right to exist.

I think all the parties are totally shit in different ways, but a Labour government in the current the global and political climate is going to be an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions - seemingly people are unaware.

We are going to see a mass exodus of the most highly educated professionals in living history of Starmer wins. Trust me.

Like all the medical staff that are leaving now?

Highly educated professionals like well-run, functional governments.

This one can't fix potholes, send you an ambulance or run a school properly.

The Labour mayor is responsible - do you remember him? Or are you determined to blame everyone else?

jgw1 · 09/08/2023 07:41

IClaudine · 09/08/2023 07:38

Why an exodus though? Starmer is actually just Tory lite tbh. He is a centrist fence sitter.

Also, can you link to where Labour has said it has an open door migration policy?

That's not possible, because I was reliably informed by a poster who tells us to trust them that Labour has no policies on immigration.

CloudyMcCloud · 09/08/2023 07:41

Remembermynamealways · 09/08/2023 07:31

You are ill informed and reproducing Labour soundbites.

The government didn’t ‘crash the economy’ the twin issues or the invasion of Ukraine, the pandemic debts have created the impact we are experiencing today, and any party would have faced the same. Together with the decisions by the Bank of England.

If Labour work hard to oppose policies on migration, which they are, people will remember and the party will probably wish the Tories had put some tough ones through first.

They may well do still. Then Labour will have to decide if they will overturn them adding to even more dissatisfaction when numbers increase

The Labour mayor is responsible for what Boris Johnson announced or Boris Joohnson was the Labour mayor?

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is an area in London, England, where an emissions standard based charge is applied to non-compliant vehicles. Plans were announced by London Mayor Boris Johnson in March 2015 for the zone to come into operation in September 2020.

I suppose if there is an exodus then the net migration figures will reduce ?

Um, do you not recall the conditions imposed by the government in return for propping up TFL during the pandemic...there was a letter and everything.

Many people seem to be rembering than the Tory government have been going to fix immigration for many years.

Q. If it was 'a pretty human reaction' how come this guy didn't react that way?
A. Because Tories have more class.

most people at the time seemed to think so.

No, most labour supporters thought that

And genuinely people think the answer to this is Starmer and Labour?

It beggars belief.

However bad things are now, with the conservatives fighting to control immigration at the very least, one court case at a time, things will become unimaginably worse under Labour and their open door policy.

Many of us are planning to leave if Labour win, by the time the eco mob have got their way and we are all destitute and cold, schools over crowded due to the closure of private schools, hospitals overrun. Forget women’s rights, the trans lobby have Labour cornered. ULEZ rolled out across the entire country. Immigration running riot, and people like David Lammy reopening the brexit wars. We will finally sell up and leave. It really will be time to call it a day.

It could be a whole lot worse than it is now, believe it or not.

Where are you going to go?

LittleMonks11 · 09/08/2023 07:45

Latest polls suggest they are properly finished so they don't care what they say.

Blossomtoes · 09/08/2023 07:47

Wasn’t that in a period when most people voted Labour? Anyway time to stop derailing the thread with ancient history.

It’s not going away. It will get worse

Look at mass displacement and climate crisis

People rarely admit a mistake but it’s not going to be a good path for Labour when they’ve opposed policies

But who cares about them really, just politicians trying to win, it’s not going to be good for us. Disquiet will increase if numbers keep going up and they’ve overturned policies

Blossomtoes · 09/08/2023 07:51

Disquiet will increase if numbers keep going up

Will it? If those increased numbers give us more workers in health and social care? We’re haemorrhaging people who work in that field, we need to replace them.

Crapsummer2023 · 09/08/2023 07:51

Who do the high profile current Tory’s think will employ them from next year? Many of them have many years of working life left. No proper business will employ them, too toxic, and they can’t all get Daily Mail column or GB News slots.

Interesting point.

If it's people like estate agents, marketing 'professionals' and bad software hawkers then that's got to be a good thing.

People can’t imagine the change that’s coming, how many will be angry when they recall the overturned policies, a fair few. Not those who are very loyal but most people aren’t, threads like this aside

Sadiq Kahn a Labour Party mayor is responsible for the EXTENSION of ULEZ and now it’s going to cover pretty much all of London.
Other labour councils are now considering rolling it out in their areas. Most of those areas do not have tubes, trams and a working bus network 🙄

But they don't have an open door policy.

That's just right wing rhetoric.

The same as all the right wing lawyers who call lawyers lefties because they defend court cases.

Everyone ignores the fact that our Home Secretary inciting this hatred is a lawyer herself and has has even said on occasions she knows she can't win these cases.

She just decides to say it's because of the lawyers against her rather than admit it's because human rights exist.
