To think this lady is seriously underpricing these gorgeous bouquets of cupcakes?

They look so real I genuinely thought it was a bouquet of real flowers. She told me it took her 3 years to learn to do them to this standard. How much do you think she charges per bouquet and you can choose the colour theme too?

Lol @ all the icing haters.

I'm suspecting the thread creater is the cupcake creator?

No, I wish I was that skillful. I'm a complete beginner. She's going to give me 6 lessons starting in September.

she needs to branch out into wedding cakes where she can charge ££££

Agree with this. The flower decorations would make beautiful wedding cakes which have a much clearer purpose.

shivawn · 07/08/2023 18:16

Beautiful, I agree that they seem like very good value! It's not something I'd buy for myself but they'd make a lovely gift for something like Mothers Day. I'd probably pay up to £55.

SwishSwishBisch · 07/08/2023 18:20

Is the baker in Surrey @caringcarer ? They look very similar (inc price) to those I ordered for my mum during covid. Was always a bit gutted I never got to try them myself as they looked fabulous and got rave reviews

Barney60 · 07/08/2023 18:30

Id say £30-45, max.

MumMRM · 07/08/2023 18:50

Can you give her web site or email, please?

TenderDandelions · 07/08/2023 18:55

The lady that made my wedding cake gave us some of these as taster cakes instead of having a regular wedding cake tasting meeting (probably one of the only upsides of the pandemic!). I've just looked on her website and she charges £34 for 7 cupcakes.

She's been doing it for years though and probably ices those in double quick time.

My wedding cake, however, cost significantly more than that!

caringcarer · 07/08/2023 18:57

@SwishSwishBisch, no in the Midlands.

I’d pay £50 ish. But I also think these cupcakes are a bit 5+ years ago and there is no longer the demand for this sort of style.

Karmakamelion · 07/08/2023 19:20

@caringcarer Please can you send me the website address x

mosiacmaker · 07/08/2023 19:38

I would expect to pay around £80

HarryGrotter · 07/08/2023 19:40

@caringcarer I’m in the midlands. Does she send out in the post if you’re not local? I’d be very interested in ordering one

JayJayj · 07/08/2023 19:47

£25-30
As a hobby baker I can understand cost and time. But once you know how to use certain nozzles, the buttercream doesn’t cost any more. I’d expect to pay £2-£2.50 for a well made “normal” cupcake so I think £25 is reasonable.

LondonJax · 07/08/2023 20:03

I think the £30 for seven is the going rate.

There's a baker we've used in Kent who has run her business for years (her Facebook page has reviews going back to 2015) and her 'classic' bouquet of 7 cupcakes is £30. She has another two levels, both with 7 cupcakes but with little extras at £35 and £40. She goes up to 30 cupcakes in a bouquet which is £115 for the top level cupcake bouquet (£95 for the classic bouquet of 30 cakes).

She's done so well she moved into professional premises a few years ago and does on line courses too (used to be face to face but went on line during Covid lockdown and found there was a market).

beetr00 · 07/08/2023 20:16

@LondonJax could you point me in the direction of her fb page, many thanks.🍰

Snippit · 07/08/2023 20:18

The amount of skill involved I’d say £80-£100 . I make crafts, but only for friends and family, people would be shocked if I charged the hourly rate. I’ve made some beautiful contemporary crochet throws, very hygge. I would have to charge well over £150, inclusive of wool and time, crafters time is very undervalued.

Inwiththenew · 07/08/2023 20:19

I bought one of these bouquets for my mum and was surprised at the price. But it tasted not so good so rather disappointing. All that icing and paint very sickly. I definitely wouldn’t get another one.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 07/08/2023 20:22

That would be around £70 near me.

Ladyoftheknight · 07/08/2023 20:24

Can you share the website? Would love to order some for a friend. They'd be £100+ near me, easily.

MojoDaysxx · 07/08/2023 20:43

Locally, there's a person who's doing six flower cupcakes for £20.00. They're similar to the photo.

toxic44 · 07/08/2023 20:45

WestOfWestminster · 05/08/2023 23:13

I'm surprised by the comments here saying £80. Really? For 7 cupcakes? I would say more like £20/£25.

I think they are nicely decorated but it just comes down to them being 7 cupcakes at the end of it, with some fancy tissue paper?

But women will pay several hundred pounds for a hat/fascinator that is a scrap of veiling and a few feathers. It isn't the intrinsic value that you're paying for, is it? A cup of coffee that costs 20p to make is £3.50 at the coffee shop.

Allthefeel · 07/08/2023 20:47

I think they're gorgeous, I have seen similar before but none that look as nice as those. I'd say £30 was cheap, yes they're cupcakes, but they're not the sort you'd probably buy for yourself just as you fancied something sweet; they'd be a gift or a real treat. If you have a unique skill and the products you make are quality then i think it's reasonable to charge a fair price, as long as its not so high that no one will pay of course! I'd pay £40-50.

Neonyellowfish · 07/08/2023 21:13

£30. It’s just 7 cupcakes.

Neonyellowfish · 07/08/2023 21:15

people saying £80… really… you would pay over £11 for 1 cupcake…
