To think this lady is seriously underpricing these gorgeous bouquets of cupcakes?

They look so real I genuinely thought it was a bouquet of real flowers. She told me it took her 3 years to learn to do them to this standard. How much do you think she charges per bouquet and you can choose the colour theme too?

About £35. Dont particularly like that sort of thing though I do realise they are a lot of work to make

And me, please.

I'm in the US at my local bakery its $90 USD for 9-12 bouquet. For a tiered wedding cake display it was $400/.

That looks like the same woman I ordered cupcakes from a couple of years ago - if it is, she charged £30 or £35 (can’t remember exactly) for 12.

No way! That’s £5.00 per cake plus £5 delivery. There’s nonprofit in that!
i’d say almost double that. £8-£10 per cake plus £8-10 delivery so £65 minimum but I’m in London so £80.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 07/08/2023 21:53

WestOfWestminster · 05/08/2023 23:13

I'm surprised by the comments here saying £80. Really? For 7 cupcakes? I would say more like £20/£25.

I think they are nicely decorated but it just comes down to them being 7 cupcakes at the end of it, with some fancy tissue paper?

So £2.50 a cake plus £2.50 delivery? Where’s the profit?
you must be VERY west of Westminster!
£70-£80 is reasonable.

Thisisnotreallymyname · 07/08/2023 22:03

How many of you out there , think like me that there is no way I would pay over £50 for 7 cupcakes, no matter how lovely!
…l apart from the ingredients I have a friend that can pipe one of these rose flowers in around 45 seconds, as she has done it so often..
Think I must just be mean ! 🙈

Neyon · 07/08/2023 22:07

They aren't my thing at all, but if I knew someone who would really want them, I wouldn't want to be paying more than £20. I get that they tend to go for more, but it's just an arrangements of fancy cupcakes...

Anne221 · 07/08/2023 22:08

I’ve just googled bouquets of cupcakes and loads came up near me for £40 so not unusual. There was one for £31 too,

Summertiempo · 07/08/2023 22:13

Sugarfree23 · 06/08/2023 00:56

I do think £30 is cheap but really it's 7 cupcakes I'd think she could up her prices to £35 so £5 each or at a push £45 but definitely not much more than that or she'll price herself out the market

But they cannot be compared to regular cupcakes. These are more like special occasion, statement cupcakes 🤩

You are not mean. Once you know how to do the flowers they only take seconds to pipe and it’s still only 7 cupcakes at the end of the day. They just look a tad fancier on top, that’s it.

Redwinestillfine · 07/08/2023 22:30

I think £30 is reasonable. Yes they're pretty but they're just cake and £30 is the top end I would pay for that many cup cakes.

I agree they are special occasion cupcakes so you have to compare it to a small celebration cake which wouldn't be any more than £35-40
But would probably feed more than 7 people.

I kinda agree. I don’t want to sound horrible, as they really look lovely, and if that’s your thing by all means, but for me it’s a matter of … do I really need this in my life? Never in my life did I have the need for such fancy cup cakes. Not even on my wedding cake. Actually I didn’t even have a wedding cake.

But then I live very frugally. So personally I wouldn’t pay much more than for your average bog standard supermarket cup cakes that I’d eat as an occasional treat.

Again, that’s not to say they aren’t lovely and people shouldn’t pay £80 for them, if that’s the value you attach to them that’s absolutely fine.

CelestiaNoctis · 07/08/2023 23:01

£45 at most.

pumpkintart · 07/08/2023 23:10

I wouldn't pay more than £35 but given the time and skill they are 'worth' a lot more she probably should be charging £80 plus.

However I don't know if enough people would pay that. With a lot of homemade items what they should be worth and what people are willing to pay are often very different

ensayers · 07/08/2023 23:19

I don't know what flour sugar fondant and food colouring costs, but somebody said the ingredients alone for this would be £20.
If that's true then maybe shop at Aldi not Waitrose next time lol

I didn't make them. DH just found them on Neighbours website and ordered them for my birthday at the end of this month. They cost £30 which I think is too little as she apparently took 3 years to learn to make them to this standard. The reviews on her website say they taste as good as they look. DH also booked me 6 lessons of cake decorating with her which I've always wanted to do better than a blob of icing and a few smarties in the top. I'll share them with my friends and make a little tea party with prosecco as I've got a lot of beautiful old china tea sets. So I'll be posh for the day. I'm doing the tea party the day before my birthday. DH is taking out DS for a few hours. There are 7 in the bouquet. My DH and DS will prefer a gooey chocolate cake from Asda.

My friend does these for just under £30. She is naturally really skilled at it, never trained and basically practiced a few times. The quality looks just as good, I haven't eaten any so can't vouch for that. They look great though don't they, lovely gift.

ensayers · 07/08/2023 23:27

People will often compare hand crafted against the price for something that looks the same but mass produced and then say had crafted is too much.
A machine could make a cupcake bouquet in minutes sold for £30 it would make a profit. To add an extra £40 for 3 hours labour, lots of people just won't pay it, for what they consider to be the same thing

justasmalltownmum · 07/08/2023 23:34

There's a lady who does this in Norfolk. She went viral a few years back. People were sad that she was out of the way and she was losing customers because of where she lived.
So she started making tutorial videos on how to do it, and you have to pay to watch the video. Genius!!
Now there are lots of people making them.

@caringcarer I’m in the midlands. Does she send out in the post if you’re not local? I’d be very interested in ordering one

I'm not sure she's on holiday next week but I'll ask her next week.

If she does UK wide delivery (I'm in Oxfordshire) I'd be interested in buying them!
