Or know anything about it?

Dh has been offered a position there, we’re from The North, I know nothing about the place!

Thank goodness it wasn’t California, there’s a village called that near Falkirk in Scotland. Bit of a shock if you turned up at the wrong one ..

There's a California in Derbyshire too, it is quite close to New Zealand

Fuck me OP, I don't think you're ready for this move

🤣🤣

RoseBucket · 31/07/2023 16:51

I also presumed New Milton, lovely, slightly older population dominates but lovely.

Milton Keynes, how are you with roundabouts?

ManyATrueWord · 31/07/2023 16:51

There are 17 places called and over 30 places with Milton in their name in the UK.

borntobequiet · 31/07/2023 16:53

I believe I went to The North once. Pleasant place.

This thread is amusing me far more than it should. I can only thing of Keynes and sterilising fluid.

I'm suprised that there are so many places either called Milton or with Milton in their name.

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2023 17:11

Well, there are/ were rather a lot of Mills....

borntobequiet · 31/07/2023 17:14

I wonder if there are more Mil(l) type names than Bridge type names in the U.K.? My guess is more bridges, but who knows?

jeaux90 · 31/07/2023 17:17

There is a Milton near me in Oxfordshire. In between Thame and Oxford.

Are we there yet?

Also California Sands in Great Yarmouth.

Plankingplanks · 31/07/2023 17:21

There is a Milton Regis in Kent, bit of a shit hole but expensive, because a) it's not up north and b) it's Kent

FirstDayOfHoliyays · 31/07/2023 17:26

"I'm suprised that there are so many places either called Milton or with Milton in their name."

You're surprised there are a lot of mill towns in England? 🙈 you and the OP might get on well.

Yes, indeed.
Now, as this one is down south rather than oop north, I think we can assume it's not a cotton mill type of mill. So I am confident the OP will find that either there's a nice stream with a decent drop somewhere in the vicinity, or some its quite windy.

CheersToMe · 31/07/2023 18:06

Middle Town not Mill Town - the one I know.

Wakingfartooearly · 31/07/2023 18:08

@JanglyBeads No, in all 45 years of my life, I’ve only ever stayed in my town oop North, I’m usually found cleaning chimneys or down mines.

I’ve lived abroad for almost twenty years and travelled the world, I barely know tbf U.K. anymore, especially the South

Lol I thought you meant Milton in Glasgow. For your sake, I'm relieved you didn't

So did I!!!

brassbells · 31/07/2023 18:11

Hopefully your DH is working remotely from home if you have no idea where the town/village you live in actually is located

Imagine telling the removal company oh we are moving to Milton and they ask which one and your reply is a shoulder shrug

😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2023 18:13

A few hours could be in the North!

Is your DH a spy or something. Has he put you in witness protection? Will a blindfold be required on the journey?

renthead · 31/07/2023 18:13

Your DH also hasn't thought to ask the employer where it is???

Wakingfartooearly · 31/07/2023 18:14

@brassbells But we’re not living there or necessarily moving…he’s been offered a job, has a few jobs lined up in different areas, Milton is the one he mentioned that I have zero idea about

No! There are so many places called Milton or connotations of Milton! We have a New Milton near us. That's in Dorset and that's a few hours from London. How can you not know where you may move to? Do you at least have a county? Or a postcode?
