First place that crossed my mind! The only other “Milton” I know is Milton Keynes.

There's a Milton in Weston super Mare which is in Somerset, do you mean that one? If there's a postcode, just the first bit, eg BS23 that will help narrow it down. If it is WSM then it's more of an area of the town rather than a village in its own right. Despite what people might tell you there are many worse places than Weston, depending on where you live...

I speak as a displaced northerner who moved south for work more than forty years ago. And I managed to find out where the job was (a place I'd never heard of) even without the benefit of Google!

In all seriousness, Milton-on-sea in Hampshire is quite nice if not particularly exciting, if that's the one you meant?

Milton in the south is lovely, historic and near wine country. Very very expensive.

Yes, its very wealthy the high street has loads of fancy shops and big town houses. It also has lots of housing estates for normal people and normal shops like Lidl.

OP I am sorry but this has made me laugh. When you heard about the relocation was your first instinct “ask mumsnet whether it’s wealthy” rather than “I’d better find that on a map”?!

Or there's Milton Regis just outside Sittingbourne Kent, just to the left of the Sheppey Crossing. Def not one of the more salubrious Kentish burbs but it does have a golf club.
