God I am bored of dogs

And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

What complete and utter horse shit! How does the number of weekly dog attacks compare with the number of murders, rapes, shootings, violent assaults, robberies, burglaries, etc, all of which are committed by humans?

@Boomboom22 good dog owners won't leave dogs and children unattended because they realise that dogs can react to children who provoke them, whether purposefully or accidentally, and that dogs can accidentally hurt children.

Gbtch · 01/08/2023 18:55

I find dogs amazing how they communicate with us, assist some of us and are companions for many.
I do not think we should equate them with children-they are dogs. Taking them shopping and into cafes is odd, in my view. And yet more odd are people who put their dogs into pushchairs! WTF?

On the first page!!!

Dog = animal
Child = human

Humans are more important than dogs and it is deeply concerning when there are people who don't understand that.

Human=animal!

I mainly hate the owners. They seem to think you want to kiss their arse for having a dog? Then are put out when you couldn't give 2 fucks.
Also I've noticed a massive increase recently of people having dogs they can't control or aren't trained. Then they look really embarrassed when they start barking and acting out.
Dogs are tolerable at best for me but no I don't appreciate them being anywhere inside and I don't appreciate them not be properly trained.

I've never met any owners who want an arse kissing for having a dog 😂 seriously where do you get these ideas from??

As for untrained dogs - no one disputes that! As a dog owner it can be equally annoying when someone else's dog is bounding up to you!

Luckily I own a German shepherd so I'm usually well avoided by judgemental people like the dog haters of this thread which suits me 😂

A well trained one might I add - I'm a vet nurse and have a BSc honours degree in animal behaviour 🐕😻

Anyone disputing how intelligent these animals can be haven't an actual clue.

julesplusvodka · 01/08/2023 20:24

I have a service dog that is well trained & goes everywhere with me. I prefer my dog to any living being especially those who don’t like dogs. I also don’t like children, tough shit, suck it up. He is also trained to trigger react to protect at all costs, humans after all 10 a penny…..

Flinstones · 01/08/2023 20:36

It's ok for people to like dogs & it's ok to not, the trouble is if you don't they are literally everywhere!!! Cafes, restaurants, parks, shops, I could go on! To not be around them you'd have to become a recluse! An older poster put it well, it's a neediness from the owner why they drag them everywhere not for the sage of the dog! I'm very disappointed in the likes of John Lewis allowing the dogs in, quite expensive clothes being touched by disgusting dogs, I would never buy in there again. Before people start going on about they feel the same about kids! Don't bother it's like saying apples & pears are the same & it is a really weak reply! Those dog owners that say that are why we have the dog problem we do!!! With there ridiculous attitude to dogs.

gingerguineapig · 01/08/2023 21:33

Genuine service dogs are not what are being discussed here. We are talking about pets. Although your post is extremely aggressive sounding and a genuine service dog would not attack people - they stick with their owners and do their jobs.

I wouldn't buy clothes from a shop that allowed dogs in - at least not from the bottom rails. That said, I don't know if they've moved them from a bottom rail recently. Back in the day, a smoke and pet free home was a selling point on ebay - how times change.

unicornhair · 01/08/2023 18:25

@gingerguineapig they flew from the U.K. and it’s not a support dog. I don’t want to say where because it’s a bit outing. It was for an extended holiday.
I thought they were joking when they said they’d bought it a ticket.

That is quite concerning. Especially if it was a long haul flight.

JohnnyYenSetHimselfOnFireAgain · 01/08/2023 21:42

unicornhair · 01/08/2023 18:11

I grew up with dogs and loved them. I never wanted one as I know the work involved even though DH is keen.
I am sick though at how everyone is meant to accept dogs everywhere. I can’t imagine going shopping in the 1980s and peoples dogs everywhere. DD is scared of dogs and people still keep suggesting we go round to see their dogs no matter how many times you tell them.
I know someone who took their dog on a long haul flight in the cabin, how pissed off would be if you were scared/allergic. Nowhere to run.

I'd be pissed off if I was sat near a screaming kid on a long haul flight.

Spidey66 · 01/08/2023 21:45

MN hates dogs. Which is weird cos dogs rock. Especially mine.

LovefromPickles · 01/08/2023 21:45

Me too. Our local soft play is now “dog friendly”

Just why?! I don’t want dogs in soft play

Moneynewpence · 01/08/2023 21:47

Well I'm bored with fucking cats and their batshit owners...

Dogs are fine. Other people's dogs. Don't want one myself.

MN does not hate dogs, posters are individuals.

Anyway, you're posting on MN, so rather disproving your point.

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 01/08/2023 22:17

Where are people living? I get the impression from some people here that dogs outnumber people. Today I went to the nearby green space for a morning walk. I passed 2 joggers, 1 cyclist, 3 people walking to work, 2 people with dogs. Left the house later - out in the street 2 adults with 2 kids. Went to the supermarket - loads of people, no dogs. Walked up the road to another shop - loads of people, no dogs. Walked back - ditto. So, today I passed 2 dogs and a few hundred people. I'm almost tempted to think that people are exaggerating.... 🤔

But are you actually allergic to kids? 😐

Myfavouritepenguin · 01/08/2023 22:36

I’m sorry, but the comparing dogs to kids is getting ridiculous now. Yes, you might find little children hard work, but unless you are actually unsubscribing from the human race, they’re part of the deal in many, many situations. You can’t be allergic to them or frightened of them because you used to be one.

The same just cannot be said of dogs. <Waits for a MNetter to come along and claim to be a former canine>

Does being a bit of a bitch count? 🤣

Myfavouritepenguin · 01/08/2023 22:32

Absolutely. When they start screeching, whingeing, kicking the back of the seat, etc, I come out in a terrible irritant induced rash.

Fakemeateater · 01/08/2023 23:40

I haven't read the whole thread, but is the comparing of dogs to kids really not someone saying they prefer dogs over children?

I prefer dogs to children, however, if I was in a situation of choosing a child's life over a dog's life, I would save the child. I would include my own dog in that scenario.

I don't think people are really comparing dogs to children, I think that what they are saying is that whilst some people find dogs irritating, they find children irritating and would much prefer to be around dogs. I certainly would.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 02/08/2023 00:32

Myfavouritepenguin · 01/08/2023 22:32

But are you actually allergic to kids? 😐

Some people with certain disabilities can find their symptoms are exacerbated by high pitched noise, which is something young children are particularly good at. Especially when the fashion for interiors is chrome and plastic and no carpeting or fabrics to absorb the noise. This isn’t life-threatening but then neither is every allergy - both can be debilitating.

Not that it matters because nobody is suggesting that children be banned from spaces to accommodate those with disabilities. Just trying to make the point that for some, avoiding kids isn’t just because they find them irritating but because it has an impact on their health.

Dogs can actually fuck right off! I’m sick of them as well op, I have friends who have gotten dogs over the last few years and now we can’t go out for without them mentioning that they “have to get back for the dog” after a couple of hours. Drives me mental.

Maybe it's an excuse to curtail the meet-up. Maybe they are overly concerned - two hours doesn't seem much to me.

frecklejuice · 02/08/2023 02:20

It’s not an excuse 😂 these are two of my closest friends and it’s always followed with a suggestion that we take the kids back to one of their houses to play in the garden and then the dog can have a wee/not be alone. Who knew dogs have such tiny bladders!

vivainsomnia · 02/08/2023 08:04

There are mild and severe allergies. If you have a severe allergies, you should be prepared for a trigger anywhere. You would obviously ask before flying and ask to sit far away from it. If mild, it is no different to seating next to someone who has a cold ...or worse, which happens so often whilst travelling. At least, with allergies, you have the option of antihistamines and you know you'll be fine after the flight.

And it didn't happen from the UK. Not on a commercial airline. Not possible. Ireland maybe, France very possible, but not UK. I plan to take my dog on a flight. They will love it. At least they are hypoallergenic, not totally impossible to have a reaction but much less likely. I would definitely asked to be moved if someone next to me said they were allergic.
