God I am bored of dogs

And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

Dogs are amazing creatures. Guide dogs, assistance dogs, search and rescue dogs, police dogs etc. Their 6th sense when something is wrong. Remember that for a lot of people their dogs are their companion if they live on
their own. People with mental health issues are reliant on their dogs to get them through each day. Personally I have witnessed a lot of unruly children out there but never been bothered by a dog in a pub, cafe or public space - and yes I have 2 children and 4 grandchildren!

Cielovista · 31/07/2023 21:00

I am really scared of dogs and even though I try my best to ignore them, they come up to me and growl. Since lockdown there are a lot more and the lovely river walk near us is now a no go area. I pay taxes: dogs do not although their owners do. We stopped holidaying in the UK because of the dogs - our campsite in Italy is almost dog free.

Worldwide2 · 31/07/2023 21:01

Dogs have become annoying because their bloody owners are annoying. Don't bother to train them, don't pick their crap up and they think it's adorable their 'fur baby' wants to say hello to anyone. 'He's friendly!' being called out is just an excuse to let your untrained dog slobber and jump at people because you can't be arsed to control him. 😩 Rant over lol
I also think it's so wierd people comparing children to dogs on here. They are not on the same level at all. It's just not a comparison.

I feel the same about children, running around, screaming, throwing toys and shit everywhere.
75% of people will like my dog, a lot less will like random children.

You were once a random child who would have been hated and judged by adults like the one you have become.

DaughterofZion · 31/07/2023 21:13

Dont be silly. How can you compare children to dogs? Children are little humans. YOU were once a child. Everyone was once a child.

kitsuneghost · 31/07/2023 20:12

Dog owners just have low standards so walking about with poo in their pocket is normal to them.

Would you like us to leave it on the ground?

BadNomad · 31/07/2023 21:15

Being a child once doesn't mean you are going to like children. Most adults don't even like adults.

phoenixrosehere · 31/07/2023 21:25

Jayne35 · 31/07/2023 20:21

That made me laugh!! Anyway most cats do cover their poo, and tend to do it in soil

Yes they do, my neighbours cats have destroyed all my plants to shit in the pots. People complain about cats because they are able to go where they like, shit where they like. Most dogs owners are responsible.

Not a fan of cat poop either, BUT I’m not having to dodge their poo when I’m walking on pavement or deal with their owners where many are paying f-k all attention to them, have to manoeuvre around them ,or have to worry about them coming up to me or my children without warning and be told “how friendly” they are when I don’t care and am trying to go about my day.

MysteryBelle · 31/07/2023 21:29

I loved our dog but I agree with you. People are getting these bizarre attachments to them, they must be brought everywhere and anywhere, celebrities with little dogs in their purses, emotional support dogs in classrooms, parks just for dogs, not just shopping or restaurants. They’re like pet-children-safety-blankets. It’s weird. And then you have the men who are on all fours identifying as dogs with spiked collars around their necks and wearing vinyl hot pants.

What in Hades is going on.

college classrooms

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 31/07/2023 21:31

I've been a dog owner for 14 years, and I've not once put dog shit in my pocket 🤣

Im sure that’s a minority, we let our dog off lead but the minute we see other dogs and families she is recalled and put back on the lead. I don’t like random dogs coming up to me either! Also rarely see muck on pavements, and I live in a not so great area.

MiniTheMinx · 30/07/2023 21:18

It's only on MN that I've encountered people who don't appear to like animals. I don't trust people who dislike animals. They are the real sociopaths.

Oh puleez. This line is played out. The real sociopaths are those that really believe that dogs are on the same level as innocent children.

Chuckthetowelin · 31/07/2023 21:43

I feel like this about Cats.

At least with dogs people (generally) clean their shit up afterwards. Cats are inescapable committers of wildlife genocide.

StarkRealism · 31/07/2023 21:43

Why are all the anti dog people so prone to exaggeration?
I do all I can to ensure my dog and I exist without pissing people off but the ott (and truly unfunny!) posts on here make me want to stop bothering.

Barrell · 31/07/2023 21:47

So we’ve debated dogs. What about snakes?

I’d love to take my 10ft reticulated python to the cafe (he loves a scone) but I’ve not seen any snake friendly places locally.

I'd love to see more danger-noodles in parks and cafés!

Came on to say this, while wondering how many of those equating dogs with children would let their or other people's kids shit and piss in the street the way they allow their "fur babies" to. Do they never think of wheelchair users and people with impaired vision. Just been for a walk in a beautiful park near my house and dog shit is EVERYWHERE.

GreenwichOrTwicks · 31/07/2023 03:26

Totally agree. Since lockdown everyone now has a dog -there are just too many. The cost to the planet of high numbers of meat eating pointless existences never send to be raised. And the cost to councils providing the fig bins.
I have also noticed that people too lazy to put effort into a relationship with another person, or too inadequate to find a partner, get a dog as an easier compliant substitute. Someone on avthread a few days ago who said they were too unattractive to find a man was advised to get a dog instead. Yeah /like lots of others.

That is an awful way to view dog owners. I had a dog with my ex, and he left us.
She has been the one that has kept me going.
Many elderly have just their dog as their constant companion.
I put in effort into relationships with fellow humans... but I also love the company of my dog.

Cassiemum · 31/07/2023 22:03

hmm my Nan always said dogs and cats can see into your soul so I guess that’s the real reason you don’t like them !!!!

MerinoCashmere · 31/07/2023 22:13

Why do so many child-haters post on MN? And expose themselves to so much content related to children? It must be tough for them. I dislike dogs so am not about to seek out Dogsnet any time soon.

It doesn’t mean I have to like children though, or engage with them in any way.

Where do these mumsnetters live where dog shit is EVERYWHERE?? What rubbish. Talk about an exaggeration. It used to be far worse 20/30 years ago before laws were brought in. No animal makes as much mess as a human being!! Stop being so bloody neurotic.

Well, according to MN....
Dog shit is everywhere.
Toddlers get knocked over like skittles constantly.
Joggers get chased and growled at all the time.
A dog licks their plate every time they are in a dog friendly eatery.
John Lewis is full of dogs and resembles a poorly controlled doggy day care.
All dogs sat in cafes are licking their arseholes, then go to lick people's faces.
All dogs are barking constantly.
