I have noticed the shift in the last year or so with more places becoming “dog friendly.” More so since Covid when a number of people brought dogs.
Majority of dogs are lovely and well behaved, but a few aren’t due to rubbish owners.
I do think that there is a time and place for dogs. Most shops are not suitable. Why would anyone think it’s a good idea dragging their dog(s) around the shops instead of taking it for a walk in a park, or even better still leave it at home me whilst you shop?!
Not everyone feels comfortable around dogs for various reasons. The only dogs which should enter shops are official registered assistance dogs, as they are working dogs trained for these situations, not a little yappy dog that may take a shit in middle of the shop (have witness this in past).
i can get why people want to bring dogs into workplace, as it can help alleviate stress for many, but this need to be weighed up against those who aren’t comfortable due to allergies/anxiety. There also need to be consideration to safeguard from risk if you put overexcitable dog into unfamiliar environment with people such as excited young children where there is potential of accidentally biting/injuring child.
There is a time and place for dogs. Owners just need to be considerate and think about whether it is actually appropriate to take dog into a particular environment. They also shouldn’t take offence if a business says no to their dog.
