And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

No animal is deliberately cruel. Those are emotions only humans are capable of.

Totally agree. Since lockdown everyone now has a dog -there are just too many. The cost to the planet of high numbers of meat eating pointless existences never send to be raised. And the cost to councils providing the fig bins.
I have also noticed that people too lazy to put effort into a relationship with another person, or too inadequate to find a partner, get a dog as an easier compliant substitute. Someone on avthread a few days ago who said they were too unattractive to find a man was advised to get a dog instead. Yeah /like lots of others.

I am vegan and like animals, but I just can't get enthusiastic about dogs (of course I am nice to them, it's not their fault). They smell so bad, and I can't cope with the shitting everywhere. They're just so unhygienic, there's no way around it.

The shit left everywhere, including preserved forever in plastic bags (mainly seen dangling from trees like obscene baubles), and including the shit stains still always left behind by responsible owners who do pick it up, make going on walks a misery. It's an obstacle course of looking at the ground dodging feces.

The dog population is massive, there needs to be ban on breeding immediately. And there need to be more dog-free areas for people who are scared of them, annoyed by them, or just don't want to spend their time navigating around piles of dog shit.

Don't get me started on blood sport breeds like XL bullies. They need to be banned immediately before any more innocent animals and humans are mauled to death.

What is the compulsion on these threads to attack and insult children? It says so much about the posters

I have a dog but yes I agree - for example digs are allowed in Boots but I don't think that's really hygienic !
Also I have waited outside clothes shops with my dogs when the shop assistants have come and told me that I can come in and they have dog treats inside but I don't want my (potentially) muddy dog walking against new clothes!

@JohnnyYenSetHimselfOnFireAgain 100%.. unless someone asks I don't mention or show any pictures to anyone of my child unless they ask. I'd also like if people didn't waffle on about their kids but sometimes you just have to nod along.

I agree it’s getting ridiculous. I really like dogs and always had one growing up, but they don’t belong and cafes and shops. Unfortunately, so many people have them now post covid, businesses are having to accommodate them to stay afloat.

I don’t particularly mind seeing them out and about but the amount of dog shit left on pavements is increasing and I’m sick of people leaving poo bags lying in the middle of the path. It’s revolving! If it comes out of your dog’s arse it’s yours to carry until you see a suitable bin. That’s not someone’s private wheely bin btw!

Where I live there are more dogs than children which is very sad when you consider that the developer has built several very nice play areas

People also seem to have more than one dog - at a market at the weekend I think there were more dogs than people - constantly jumping up or sniffing in bags - my children are well behaved around dogs but everywhere we turned they were there and would often jump up at the kids....now if my kids had touched their dog mind you there would be hell to pay!

On the beach this week - beautiful beaches - and then at the entranceways to get down to them piles of dog Pooh bags 🤬 take them home!!!! I take my kids dirty nappies home!

Argh god I am with you: the other day I was in a John Lewis sat down bent over to try on some shoes and someone let their dog come up and lick my face without me knowing. Was absolutely f*cling gross. Why are dogs needed in JL FFS (NOTE I didn’t check after and it wasn’t an assistance dog - JL is also dog friendly now)

That’s Disgusting. More people need to put their complaints into businesses when this happened. A shopping centre in Glasgow did a trial dogs allowed period and it backfired royally. A lot of complaints came through , the final one being a huge poo in the food court area and the trial was brought to an end. They no longer allow non assistance dogs.

Absolutely sick to death of dogs being everywhere. I’ve had an altercation in JL with a stupid dog owner too.

With allergies and phobias of dogs in our family linked to autism it really makes it even harder for us to go out. All of the quiet walks we could go for where there isn't too much going on instead there are dogs running around off their leads or dog walkers walking over 10 of them.

It means that we can't use these spaces and it's not like we have the option to go to busy crowded places either.

We booked a holiday let once. It didn't say anything about pets being allowed. We got there and the whole place was covered in dog.

I don't mind the odd well behaved dog but it is frustrating to often have your lives restricted far more than necessary because of the amount of dogs that many people don't have the time for.

And I don’t give a darn about those who would rather be surrounded by dogs over people. Surround yourself with them in your own house then but don’t invade public spaces with them where others can’t get away from them. And no it’s not the same as people being in these spaces - which are literally designed by and for humans!

For those blithely suggesting we find dog friendly spaces the point is they are so few and far between now in the UK. In my market town in the north west i can’t find any local cafes that are not dog friendly. I have to get on a train £10 to the nearest city to find that. Absurd. If out of say 6 cafes, 3 were dog friendly ok I’d avoid those but the fact I can’t find a single one is unfair. And I don’t know any dog friendly parks in my area but I still got an idiot dog owner in my apartment block let her dog jump on me. I reported her and she wasn’t pleased but at least the problem is solved. If it was a stranger would be more difficult to do. With the amount of Council tax I pay I resent having to avoid all parks.

And sorry but I don’t see why someone living on a top floor in a flag should be owning dogs. Maybe the gov in addition to introducing a dog tax like Germany does should have restrictions on people without gardens owning dogs. That’s why a dog ended up pissing in the hallway of our flats.

glad to see so many dog owners and dog lovers on this thread can be reasonable and agree there are too many everywhere. It shows the problem is only with a minority who think dogs are equal to children etc
