God I am bored of dogs

And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

I wonder how the 'dogs are dirty and shouldn't be in cafes' posters think that dog owners survive eating a meal in their own homes.

YANBU. We should be getting rid, not encouraging. So bad for the environment and contribute nothing.

😂😂😂😂

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 30/07/2023 23:11

The thing is, a dog owner who takes their dog to a cafe/pub to a cafe/pub that allows dogs is doing nothing wrong.
I'm just thinking of a local pub I happily take my dog along to for lunch after a walk. I would be seated in the dog friendly area, my dog would remain on his lead at all times, and a blanket, toys and chewy treat would be put under the table for him.

If someone else doesn't wish to be near a dog they could either a) go somewhere else or b) ask to be seated in the restaurant part of pub, where dogs are not permitted.

I wouldn't dream of trying to take him somewhere that doesn't allow dogs. That would be batshit and entitled. Taking him somewhere that the owners welcome him, is not.

Magnoliafarm · 30/07/2023 23:12

I just went camping for a week with my 18 month old to a dog free car free site and it was the easiest parenting I've ever done. I feel like I spend my whole life chasing him around parks so I'm ready to pick him up if a dog twice his size runs over. At the dog free site he could run free as long as i could see him.
Everyone always says "don't worry he's friendly" I don't give a fuck what their sentiment is if their jump up... even a toy poodle has been able to knock my toddler over onto his back on a hard floor. And I don't want their muddy paws all over my clothes. And my baby shits in nappies. Why are nappies good enough for my baby but not good enough for a dog, whose shit literally makes kids go blind?
My toddler is constantly picking up acorns and leaves and other crap off the floor, all of it probably has dog poo residue on it. The number of times I've had it on my pushchair wheels!
So many stained dog piss puddles on the street that little ones try and splash in.
Don't get me started on cats. Why do we as a nation tolerate other people's animals dominating our gardens and shitting on our french beans? I do not want your pet's shit in my garden. And every cat owner in the world claims their cat never craps in other people's gardens. Stop denying it, just fucking apologise, clean the crap out of my veg bed, and but me a box of chocolates every now and again.

LimitIsUp · 30/07/2023 23:12

I get the sentiment you are expressing OP but for me it's people rather than dogs that are a problem. I find they are everywhere I go - annoying the crap out of me with their dithering, getting in the way, driving badly, talking too loudly etc. Thing is I realise I have to put up with them, and that whilst my disdain is genuine it's also not very reasonable of me (so I try and suppress my annoyance and get on with life)

I live in London and there are far too many dogs. People DRIVE dogs to go walking. They walk them in packs.

On our NextDoor forum they are complaining that the council is not cutting grass so the dogs are being injured by grass seeds. Thye are "demanding" the council provide parks which are cut all through the year for their dogs to walk and shit on"

We’re all uptight for not wanting animals breathing and spitting, spreading their hairs and licking their arses where we eat…?

Do dogs spit? That's camels isn't it?

I LOVE the idea of a giraffe cafe! Please can someone start this?

I can image climbing a huge ladder up to your table and then being able to scratch the nose of a giraffe as the meander through the cafe.

olivehaters · 30/07/2023 23:13

Love dogs. But I and my kids have allergies. Hate that they are everywhere now. Even in their school! So hard to find holiday accommodation that doesn’t allow pets. I have three kids so hotels not an option. And animals in restaurants is just grim.at least i work in a hospital so don't have to contend with them in the workplace!

I went to Battersea Power Station today
and there was a ridiculous amount of
dogs there in the shops. Not all of them
were behaving. One woman was struggling to control her large dog in the Apple
store.

I have a severe allergy to dogs and have been hospitalised on several occasions due to asthma attacks after coming into contact with dogs. Shopping is no longer a fun activity for me…just stress that a dog is going to come near me.

This is awful and not acknowledged enough by these shops and cafes allowing dogs inside.
My DC has a phobia of dogs and it's been difficult shopping recently. We went to a small shoe shop yesterday to buy school shoes and within five minutes 3 separate couples entered, each with a dog. DC was shaking and crying and we had to leave. Went to a sweet shop down the road to cheer him up and there was one dig inside, two by the door. Went to get the ferry back to our hotel and had to wait ages until there was a boat without a dog going in it. Then on the steam train ride today every carriage had a dog in it. The guard kindly let us go in first class as it was the only dig-free carriage.

I love dogs, but this is getting ridiculous. When I had a dog ten years ago, it was unusual for a shop to allow them inside and I'd ask permission if I really needed to go into a shop when my dog was with me. Usually tying him up outside while I popped in was fine. Ok my dog loved steam train rides and boat rides. But nowadays there are so many dogs in shoos, cafes, on trains, it's really hard for people with allergies or phobias.

SpainToday · 30/07/2023 23:15

I have no problem with dogs, but in the last few years their owners seem to think they should be welcome anywhere/everywhere, and if you’re the host it’s suddenly your responsibility to accommodate the dog. Owners seem to have less accountability now.

Sorry, 'dog' obviously, not 'dig'. 😂

God there are some vile people on this thread. I can’t do with bloody noisy kids running around, I liked it when kids spoke when they were spoken to but I show tolerance and understand that we are all different. That’s what is lacking on MN sometimes - a complete lack of tolerance. If you don’t want to eat in a cafe which is dog friendly then find one where dogs aren’t allowed. The world does not revolve around you and what you want. Miserable sods. I would rather be friends with a dog than half the miserable arsed people on this thread. For some people their dog is their everything - be kind. And no I don’t have a dog but I do have empathy. A dog environmentally unfriendly - oh do fuck off talking pious crap.

You are so right. I went to a public museum today a few dogs & there were 2 children running absolute riot in the cafe whilst parent looked on laughing, 3 dogs were sat by owners minding their own business on leads. I don’t know who these people are that have dogs jumping up & misbehaving but I have seen far more children than dogs being disruptive

I really don't understand the dogs vs kids argument. It's a strange argument that really doesn't prove any point either side.

It should be renamed "entitled parents vs entitled dog owners".

Scautish · 30/07/2023 23:20

But that’s a giraffe-free giraffe cafe. With normal sized legs. I want real giraffes and giant tables. And the dog-haters would love it as the dogs would be on the floor a long long way below.

funinthesun19 · 30/07/2023 23:21

When people (usually men using it as a status symbol) go on about how gorgeous their boy/girl is. And it’s one of those really BUTT UGLY disgusting dogs. I’d rather stare at a pile of dog shit because it’s more beautiful than one of those types dogs.

I’ll third this.

The only one I’ve met in real life was a short-lived ex. And he was absolutely terrible so I’ll continue to give them a swerve.

You giraffe people are so entitled! You'll be wanting Knickerbocker Glories and extra long straws next.

Please pick up after your giraffe.

I love how this has riled you up enough to post a fuming thread f'ing and blinding about dogs! Me: goes on Mumsnet ... Women TTC unsuccessfully, serious political discussions, domestic violence, loss of a child and then the dog haters 😂Thanks for putting life into perspective I guess...

Yep, pretty much sums it up.

It just sends any debate involving dogs or kids into a great big entitled cul-de-sac.
