Would you need a proper dinner too?

Had a bbq for lunch at home, nothing huge, just three of us, but salmon, tuna, steak, sardines, large salad & baguettes. Quite a lot of fussing and prep, plus washing up afterwards etc.
We had the lunch fairly late-2.30.
Dh asks what we’re having for dinner 🤷🏻‍♀️
My thoughts were to just have a sandwich/toastie whatever later on and to pick at something, he was expecting a full dinner made later…
Would you have this lunch and made dinner later or just pick at whatever’s in the cupboard?

Why was he expecting a full dinner made for him? Is he disabled?

I would always want my dinner later, DH often says if we have gone out for lunch he wouldn't want dinner, does my head in.

I don't understand why you wouldn't want it, same on a Sunday if we have a roast he says he doesn't want anything later. I need at least 3 meals a day, and plenty of snacks or I get grouchy. But I sort myself out.
I'm not overweight, I just have a big appetite and prefer healthy snacks and feel quite weak if I go too long without food.

We wouldn't cook again after a BBQ lunch - just have crackers and cheese or soup. If DH or DS1 were hungry they might do a pasta or stir fry for themselves but not a proper sit down meal for everyone.

A lot of you sound like my mother in law. She's 5 ft 5, weighs about 8 stone and is constantly saying things like "ooo you've given me a lot" whenever she is given any food.
back when she did the family roast (she's 94 now) she gave everyone two roast spuds, a slither of meat, a few veg....I used to go home and make another meal...bil did the same.
I think that you need to take into account what a person does for wor/hobbies etc. I had a manual job so needed much more than my wife. Now I cycle a lot but have cut portion size down as I no longer need as much food.

I probably wouldn't eat again but my bf would. He would however get it himself.

Making one big meal a day is enough work.

That meant tuna steak, not tuna and steak, just a fish lunch

Yep, apologies I didn't see the update
