For me it’s BBC’s 1995 Pride and Prejudice. Absolute perfection, I wouldn’t change a thing!

Once upon a Time, series 1-6, for the relationship between Emma and Hook, I am in love with their love. Beautiful.

Also Friends, I know it has its issues 25 years later but I dont care, I love it.

Big Bang Theory too.

Duckswaddle · 29/07/2023 10:47

Peep Show
The Thick of It
Fleabag

Agree that the 1995 Pride & Prejudice series is the only version that anyone should watch 😂

The Night Of is a masterpiece. I agree @Bamboozles

I even got up in the middle of the night to watch new episodes 😃

MissBattleaxe · 29/07/2023 18:32

Gavin and Stacey.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 29/07/2023 18:32

Breaking Bad is exceptional! Bingeing it now, can’t believe I left it so long.

Comedy wise I think Ghosts and The IT Crowd are brilliant.

agoodfriendofthethree · 29/07/2023 18:42

The Wire
Ted Lasso
The West Wing
The Sopranos

CheerfulBunny · 29/07/2023 18:51

The Killing - used to stay awake all night binge watching it on my phone.
Grantchester - recent convert to this, nothing to do with fancying Robson Green you understand... Sidney was the best vicar.
State of Play - oh my god! I know it's old but I saw a repeat of it recently on Drama and could hardly wait a week to see what was going to happen next. It really is astonishingly good.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 29/07/2023 19:03

If we’re allowed any really old ones….

Upstairs, Downstairs
The Duchess of Duke Street
The Pallisers
House of Cards (original U.K. version)

And ditto to
Yes Minister/Prime Minister
The Royle Family

The mighty boosh

Father Ted.

It was named the second best sitcom in a Radio Times poll (Fawlty Towers #1) and to me its the only one that can challenge it.

No-one does religious comedy/satire like here (the greatest ever comedy, Life of Brian, being the prime example in film)

Bishop O'Neill:
So Father, do you ever have any doubts? Is your faith ever tested? Any trouble you've been having with beliefs or anything like that?
Father Dougal:
Well you know the way God made us, and he's looking down at us from heaven?
Bishop O'Neill:
Yeah...
Father Dougal:
And then his son came down and saved everyone and all that?
Bishop O'Neill:
Uh huh...
Father Dougal:
And when we die, we're all going to go to heaven?
Bishop O'Neill:
Yes. What about it?
Father Dougal:
Well that's the part I have trouble with.

I wish you could have put this in the Telly Addicts section instead of AIBU. It's just the sort of thread you might try and seek out if you're looking for something to watch.

FarmGirl78 · 31/07/2023 09:56

Breaking Bad.

If you consider A-Level literature exams...."Was Macbeth a villain or a tragic figure led astray by his villainous wife?" and "In Lord of the flies explain the dependent relationship between..." you could so easily set similar questions over the relationships between Jesse and Walter, or Walter and Skyler. Eg "At what point do Walter's crimes switch from being a necessary evil being evil by choice?". I think drawing a comparison between Breaking Bad and oldy worldy literature would make them so much more relevant to modern day students. There is just so much to pick apart in BB. It's fascinating. Every time I watch it I discover a tiny different facet of a relationship and another penny drops. Just love it.
