The police are a disgrace. Some of us have known this for a long time. Now they aren't even hiding it from the "mainstream" population.

KarmaStar · 26/07/2023 23:07

Let's get the facts first.
It's been sensationalized.
The police do a very difficult job and are always under attack.
But you get scared, worried who do you call?the very people who risk their lives every day for little or no thanks.
Don't judge or comment until you have all the information required to start accusing the police.

Motnight · 26/07/2023 23:07

That's awful.

More and more reasons coming to light for women to fear and mistrust the police.

The facts are in the article. Who the fk are you to tell her she was not assaulted when you know nothing about the case.

Where is the missing footage?

The police are institutionally misogynist. This horrifies me but does not surprise me in the slightest.

purpleme12 · 26/07/2023 23:14

This is honestly so so disturbing. And scary. And worrying

It's all in the article ...

"Zayna's allegation is supported by her medical records which show evidence of sexual injuries. She has also shared her concerns with former GMP chief superintendent, Martin Harding, who has seen the available footage and the glaring inconsistencies with the custody log, and says her claims are credible.

"I believe she was raped. I believe she was raped by an officer and I believe the organisation is covering it up," he says. "

Lamelie · 26/07/2023 23:17

@KarmaStar
Have you read the article? Even if there are many facts missing I’m struggling to think of any scenario which isn’t extremely sinister.

Opine · 26/07/2023 23:19

@TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum absolutely. There are a few good apples not a few bad.

Twite · 26/07/2023 23:23

This is appalling and shocking. Why is it not on BBC news?

sweatynoob · 26/07/2023 23:28

Wow her story is harrowing. Sounds like she was going through a very tough time prior to this and was taken advantage of. There is clearly something being hidden. She has every right to see the footage of herself during those hours - not of the others involved but of herself and should absolutely be given access. It must be absolutely terrifying to have all your power taken away and your dignity whilst equally being controlled and confronted by those in authority while already being vulnerable. I’m glad she is fighting and I stand with her.

smilesup · 26/07/2023 23:31

Fuck the police. Honestly fucking bunch of wankers. So so many of them are vile people. I know some are good. Two of my friends is an incredible policeman and humans but they acknowledge they are working surrounded by bastards.

smilesup · 26/07/2023 23:32

NewspaperTaxis · 26/07/2023 23:44

Not a great day for Greater Manchester Police - it was down to them that the poor bloke got banged up in jail for 20 years under an unsafe rape conviction.

They and the whole area are corrupt, you wouldn't trust the local Council given how they dealt with the grooming gangs - The Sunday Times basically ran a story about how its Social Services 'pimped out' a vulnerable girl to an Asian bloke. It's just so odd, not merely corrupt, that doesn't cover it.

Why Rishi Sunak hasn't been all over it, or any of the other Tory PMs I don't know but perhaps it's quid pro quo - Labour might retaliate and ask how it is Surrey County Council seems to be bumping off the elderly in care homes to cut its costs. Local authorities and local police - it's a hornets nest, you don't go there.

The hospital thinks she was given “date rape drug”

the Chief police person thinks it’s possible she was raped

there is missing fotage - if there was nothing to hide it would have been provided.

Im inclined to believe her based on this evidence.

No. Just no. I read and watched the full article and I'm not an idiot. I absolutely believe her and the other women. Something terrible happened here for all these women.

Why do you think this isn't true? Is it because you believe the police to free of rapists? Or is it because you don't believe women?

Well we would have all the information required if the police would release the missing three hours of footage, which they have, but won't hand over.

But if we are not supposed to comment until we have all the information required why is it okay for you to comment?

Nodramaatleasttoday · 27/07/2023 00:36

Not exactly the same thing. But I once had contact with the police ( hadn’t committed a crime and was behaving myself) but was in a very vulnerable state and a policeman was left alone with me to ‘look after’ me. He was overly familiar and unprofessional and offering all sorts of life advice before beginning to compliment me on my appearance and stating he ‘should have gone off duty hours ago but thought I was special and deserved looking after’ I’d very much sobered up by then and was dealing with the horrific events that preceded this so was beginning to become defensive and asking him to leave my house , also my dog had taken a dislike to him and was behaving defensively. He became visibly irritated at my stoicism and my refusal to want to be hugged or ‘looked after’ while my dog sat and snarled at his feet. He left around 5 hours after the other officers, a bit grumpy and without any sort of professional reference to support or whatever. I believe he was one of the ‘bad ones’ especially when later I saw the case evidence which had stated he’d left with the other officers following this incident. I reported this and provided evidence but never heard back from them.

I know you aren't lying based on my own experiences which were no where near as bad as yours. I'm glad you had your lovely dog.

hellywelly3 · 27/07/2023 00:40

I used to be a big supporter of the police and thought people who had a problem with them are probably trouble makers. But more and more of these things are happening (or coming out). I really don’t feel like I can 100% trust the police anymore.

yesigotyourletter · 27/07/2023 00:43

Disgusted, but not surprised. No, it’s not all police officers, but it’s far too many that are on a power trip and have a superiority complex. That poor woman. I hope she’s okay and gets justice, although I sadly very much doubt she will.

Yes I couldn’t even explain this at the time, but with life experience and clarity of thought I realised he was at best unprofessional and at worst predatory I was a young 19 year old at the time . His name came up some years later as part of a scandal, not to do with women but of mishandling another case where someone died unnecessarily at the hands the police. I believe he was just one of those sickos that goes into the progression for kicks and power. I’m no hater of the police, most I’ve dealt with have been fantastic but he was definitely an example of the bad kind. I wonder if there’s some personality test they could do to identify people who are applying for the wrong reasons. And yes, that dog was an awful little rescue with an attitude problem but he definitely knew things .

There's always one🙄

If you've actually read up about this case and this is your conclusion then you are scary

londonba · 27/07/2023 01:12

what a harrowing story.

There’s mention of missing footage in the van and also in the cell. The cell camera having missing footage is strange, as they provided footage from the same camera at other intervals in time. Makes a malfunction seem unlikely! If no assault occurred, it’s still very unusual that they left a potentially under the influence and “mentally unwell” person for that long without clothing or medical attention so failures all around.
