Prints and logos on t-shirts / tops look stupid and immature when you're 30s

I'm trying to settle a little dispute with a friend of mine,

We're both blokes in our 30s and i basically told him his Boba Fett t-shirt is not what you could call optimal dress sense if he wants to attract women and generally look like a well rounded 30-something bloke.

Same goes to a lesser extent logo tops.. "Calvin Klein"

I like high quality PLAIN tops 100% cotton and well fitting to my body, maybe they'll have a small logo somewhere but that's all.

If you want a woman who judges you mainly on what you wear…then you might be right. Seems a bit shallow though.

DH wears a mix and I couldn’t care less. So long as he’s clean and sweet smelling your friend will be fine!

Chypre · 26/07/2023 21:56

YABU. Boba Fett tshirt is a perfect signal to women who would appreciate the “Yo da one” card for Valentines. Yes it might be immature but that’s the whole point of it.

Plain is seriously boring, I'd be with the Star Wars dude every time!

YourNameGoesHere · 26/07/2023 21:58

Why does it matter what you like? He's not looking to attract you, he wants to find someone who will like him for who he is and to be honest a t-shirt won't stop things if the right person comes along.

I suspect you also think adults who enjoy Lego, superheroes or Disney are also stupid and immature thank goodness we aren't all the same, imagine how boring and stupid that would be.

lljkk · 26/07/2023 22:00

Thread title makes me want to rush out & by a t-shirt like this.
I humbly submit it's the contents not the wrapper that convinces the shopper.
... Wouldn't kick him out for farting in bed

I love T-shirts with pictures or phrases on. I think they give someone a personality.
I’m in my late 40s. All the men I know are between 25 and 60. Almost all wear tshirts like that. I think they look cool. Most of the time. My husband has a Joker one I think is a bit ugly but I mostly hide it at the bottom of the wash basket.

Female and currently wearing a top that says "your soul was delicious"

VeridicalVagabond · 26/07/2023 22:06

I'd rather go on a date with Boba Fett shirt guy than PLAIN and COTTON and FITTED shirt guy.

Always love a goofy slogan shirt. My very together and well rounded 30 something husband wears lots of stupid t-shirts and I love them. He gets hit on a LOT too so the stupid shirts are obviously not hurting his ability to attract women.

TheGoogleMum · 26/07/2023 22:06

Well it depends, if the t-shirt is something we have a shared interest in it wouldn't be off putting at all? My husband often wears star wars t shirts

rosiepozis · 26/07/2023 22:08

I don’t find graphic t shirts appealing, I think a nice plain white one is much better. But everyone has different tastes!

Seasideanticscanleadtosandybuckets · 26/07/2023 22:08

Can never understand why anyone over 10 would want to wear anything fucking Disney...

AlligatorPsychopath · 26/07/2023 22:10

I will shortly be 40 and today I am wearing a t-shirt with a Frida Kahlo graphic on it. It's one of my favourites. Sometimes I... wear it to work.

YABU.

WiddlinDiddlin · 26/07/2023 22:12

Nah, DP is currently wearing a Lawnmower Deth Tshirt which he has quite possibly had as long as we've been together (18 years)...

I'll stick with my people, the band, logo, print tshirt folks.

DrManhattan · 26/07/2023 22:15

🙄

SweetPetrichor · 26/07/2023 22:15

As the partner of a man who wears T-shirts with Boba Fett and similar images, I can 100% disagree. He knows when to pull out a nice shirt, but the day we get old and wear plain tees will be a sad day.

Malarandras · 26/07/2023 22:16

You are so unreasonable it’s difficult to quantity. You do you, let everyone else do them.

JamesLondon11 · 26/07/2023 22:17

I like cream, white, navy and black.
T-shirts that are well fitted and show off my physique

I also wear slim fitting jeans (not skinny and not baggy). Ones that show off my leg shape but not so tight they look like leggings.

I'm a bloke and I've a mate in his late 40s who's very similar. Looks like he's dressing the same as he did at 12. I've been trying to get him to watch YouTube videos like real men, real style. The gentleman's Gazette and the chaps guide.
The first one is great. Style guides on how to look good as you age. Clothing, grooming and fragrance guides. It's American but fits with the uk. Also touched on men's mental health, what women find attractive and how to present as a confident person.
The Gazette is also from the us...more into classic suits and old school looks but great guides on how to iron, care for clothes etc.
The chaps guide is from the uk. Again great guides on men's clothing.

I hasten to add that these are all very much about being the best you can be rather than being rich, making money, attracting women...so definitely not Andrew Tate territory.

Personally I think some men just don't want to grow up yet moan constantly that they don't have a partner. If I was female I'd not want a boyfriend who was 35 and telling the world they like star wars...especially not the worst character to ever appear in any film ever.

FrogsWormsandCaterpillars · 26/07/2023 22:18

I would be far more attracted to a man in at shirt with a picture or words on, or, even better, a band t shirt.
Plain tops to show off a physique, absolutely not

Sonyrec · 26/07/2023 22:20

Oops! Better send back the Grogu T shirt I've just brought the OH. 😅

Mountainpika · 26/07/2023 22:21

In my 70s and wearing one from a music festival.

LolaSmiles · 26/07/2023 22:22

It depends on the design/print.

I don't get comedy t shirts and don't think they look good. I also hate t shirts with TV and film characters on. I wouldn't mind band t shirts though.

Me too. Plain clothes in 'tasteful' colours like cream and navy on a man in his thirties is just plain weird.

As for the solemn talk of showing off physique and leg shape, I think my vagina just slammed shut like a venus flytrap.
