Prints and logos on t-shirts / tops look stupid and immature when you're 30s

I'm trying to settle a little dispute with a friend of mine,

We're both blokes in our 30s and i basically told him his Boba Fett t-shirt is not what you could call optimal dress sense if he wants to attract women and generally look like a well rounded 30-something bloke.

Same goes to a lesser extent logo tops.. "Calvin Klein"

I like high quality PLAIN tops 100% cotton and well fitting to my body, maybe they'll have a small logo somewhere but that's all.

Well quite - & considering that the gender split at a Supernatural convention leans heavily to the female side, he might have some luck!

Today my DH is wearing his Cones of Dunshire T-shirt. DC took great delight a few years ago choosing him a Deadpool riding a unicorn T-shirt - he loves it - even wears it to work.

A cones of Dunshire tshirt! You’ve picked a good husband 😁

Pure class.

To be fair.. Most of the posters on this thread are people who's dating lives are finished.. with partners..

I'm trying to help my mate out and i believe women in their 30s will be more attracted to a man who looks smart, with clothes that accentuate his good fit body not looking like a nerd that just came from a star wars convention..

Same goes for jeans.. Baggy jeans are MINGING especially on 30-something men. Reminds me of the old fellas standing at the bar in Wetherspoons waiting for their pint..

I love star wars and Mandalorian and all things sci-fi but that's not the point. etc etc..

Nerds are hot.

Is your friend aware you fancy him, and your advice is actually to make him date worthy for you?

WunWun · 26/07/2023 22:57

For some reason I keep getting adverts for these kind of Hawaiian type mens shirts, but they have Jurassic Park prints. So there are leaves, but you can see velociraptors behind them.

I'd like a guy wearing one of those shirts, completely undone at the front to show his very hairy chest. Also wearing short shorts to show off his muscley legs. And he would have a moustache with no beard and a mullet.

Just me? 😬😁

@JamesLondon11, you know Essex isn't London, right Wink

I’ve got a Littlest Pet Shop t-shirt and I’m 47

I like cream, white, navy and black.
T-shirts that are well fitted and show off my physique

I also wear slim fitting jeans (not skinny and not baggy). Ones that show off my leg shape but not so tight they look like leggings.

Dull. As. Fuck.
100% would walk right past you and straight for your mate.

MissingOkie · 26/07/2023 23:00

Not just you. Love a mullet and moustache. 😍

QueefofSheena · 26/07/2023 23:00

I’m currently wearing a Jamie Reid ‘no
music on a dead planet’ shirt, DH is wearing a Trojan Records ringer shirt. He was wearing a pork pie hat with it earlier, the horror! 😱

Im attracted to men around my age so very early 30s in either check shirts and jeans or branded T-shirts like stone island Balenciaga off white Cp company that kind of thing with jeans and a nice pair or trainers . I wouldn’t find character clothing attractive at that age

I do try as I know it's really popular and my nephews are into it.. but I honestly can't take someone seriously who would spend £150 + on a bloody tee shirt? One of my nephews think he's real hot shit and I just want to laugh at the absurdity of it.

I realise there's a market for it (obviously) and I know I sound judgy, but I just think it's such a waste of good money, I've never been into branded clothing unless it also serves another purpose, and wouldn't really respect anyone who thought that was a good use of their resources, it would be a major turn off for me.

XenoBitch · 26/07/2023 23:02

I am 40s and wear them. I love a particular franchise, and wear t-shirts to show my appreciation.

TheChosenTwo · 26/07/2023 23:02

@Agapornis it’s been a while since I saw that 😂

Sorry but I hate quirky/character/slogan/big brands/band/novelty T-shirts of all descriptions on men or women! I mean, it’s not the be all and end all but in my head I’d be thinking ‘wtf?!’ - I’m a very plain and boring dresser and it’s what I’m comfortable in, I don’t want anyone looking at my clothes or reading something on me!

Seasideanticscanleadtosandybuckets · 26/07/2023 22:08

Can never understand why anyone over 10 would want to wear anything fucking Disney...

Because not everyone over 10 has to be a miserable, judgy asshole.

NannyGythaOgg · 26/07/2023 23:12

Do you also wear a teeeny tiny hat to show off your undeveloped brain 😂

I could have made a similar thread talking about advising my friend to go tot he gym and get into shape because women would find him more attractive..

I'd just get a barrage of:

My fat pot bellied husband is sexy as hell!
Dad bods are more interesting!
ick ick - guys caring about their physique 🤢

The ol' saying goes;
You don't ask the fish how to fish, you ask the fisherman

G'nite everyone

But you're single..

Agapornis · 26/07/2023 23:17

I'm sorry the closet is so comfortable that you feel unable to come out.

On the other hand, gay men wouldn't entertain your bullshit either.

Curseofthenation · 26/07/2023 23:17

I think it depends. A band t-shirt? That's fine to me. Overall, I probably would say I prefer plain t-shirts on men, especially with a shirt over the top. That might be because my DH wears this type of clothes though.

I would never wear anything heavily branded either. I didn't in my 20s, and I'm not about to start in my 30s. Disney fashion on adults is particularly bad imo.

Are we the same person…? I do get an ad for another similar shirt but instead of the velociraptor you can have your pets pic there. I told my husband I wish I’d have seen that before I ordered his shirt for his Hawaiian themed 40th surprise bbq/party

You seem fragile, I'd suggest stepping away from Mumsnet if you can't cope with women who have opinions 😮

Papernotplastic · 26/07/2023 23:23

Did the meany women not agree with you? Boo hoo.

SocksAndTheCity · 26/07/2023 23:24

🤣🤣🤣

CatchHimDerry · 26/07/2023 23:25

@Agapornis that pic is the exact thing that came to my mind as well 😂👌🏼 so glad somebody posted it

OP, there’s a thin line between looking after oneself and being proud of this, and being a vain poser that will in fact send the ladies in the opposite direction because you look like trouble
