Prints and logos on t-shirts / tops look stupid and immature when you're 30s

I'm trying to settle a little dispute with a friend of mine,

We're both blokes in our 30s and i basically told him his Boba Fett t-shirt is not what you could call optimal dress sense if he wants to attract women and generally look like a well rounded 30-something bloke.

Same goes to a lesser extent logo tops.. "Calvin Klein"

I like high quality PLAIN tops 100% cotton and well fitting to my body, maybe they'll have a small logo somewhere but that's all.

Nope, l like a funky slogan/band tee ...

Fatkittythinkitty · 26/07/2023 22:26

My husband rocks a Jim'll paint it t shirt.

He's also not boring and self obsessed.

Iheartmysmart · 26/07/2023 22:26

Mid fifties, currently wearing a Wednesday Addams ‘I hate everything’ t-shirt. Much prefer a man with personality, you sound a bit dull.

I'm a bloke and I've a mate in his late 40s who's very similar. Looks like he's dressing the same as he did at 12. I've been trying to get him to watch YouTube videos like real men, real style. The gentleman's Gazette and the chaps guide.
The first one is great. Style guides on how to look good as you age. Clothing, grooming and fragrance guides. It's American but fits with the uk. Also touched on men's mental health, what women find attractive and how to present as a confident person.
The Gazette is also from the us...more into classic suits and old school looks but great guides on how to iron, care for clothes etc.
The chaps guide is from the uk. Again great guides on men's clothing.

I hasten to add that these are all very much about being the best you can be rather than being rich, making money, attracting women...so definitely not Andrew Tate territory.

Personally I think some men just don't want to grow up yet moan constantly that they don't have a partner. If I was female I'd not want a boyfriend who was 35 and telling the world they like star wars...especially not the worst character to ever appear in any film ever.

being a female, if my boyfriend was 35 and wearing a Star Wars t shirt (or marvel shirt..) I would probably propose 😹 well assuming he liked board games and playing video games as well 😻

ChelseaGem · 26/07/2023 22:28

I’m 50, and today I was wearing my Joey Ramone with cats tshirt.

Windercar · 26/07/2023 22:28

Why do you think anyone on here gives a fuck what you wear?

PickAChew · 26/07/2023 22:28

I don't think anyone should dress in a way that isn't "them" in the hope of attracting a.potential life partner.

JamesLondon11 · 26/07/2023 22:17

I like cream, white, navy and black.
T-shirts that are well fitted and show off my physique

I also wear slim fitting jeans (not skinny and not baggy). Ones that show off my leg shape but not so tight they look like leggings.

Quite frankly 🤮 tbh.

Now I need that one Grin

ThisMama1 · 26/07/2023 22:30

I’d prefer a Mando tee over a Boba Fett one but loved both series so would take either over a plain tee. I’d take my hubby’s bright bloody golf t-shirts over a plain tee tbf. I like a man who owns his personality & style and doesn’t change it to suit other people. You will attract people that like you & your style, he’ll attract people that like him & his style. Nothing wrong with either but plenty wrong with trying to get someone to change Ps I’m F, 41 & what you’d class as a professional working in the city just for context

I love T-shirts with pictures or phrases on. I think they give someone a personality.
I’m in my late 40s. All the men I know are between 25 and 60. Almost all wear tshirts like that. I think they look cool. Most of the time. My husband has a Joker one I think is a bit ugly but I mostly hide it at the bottom of the wash basket.

Nah

StressyErica · 26/07/2023 22:31

It's all about band t-shirts and prints for me. I like a bit of personality and tend to go for a more "alternative" look. DH looks gorgeous in his Zelda shirt. 😍 I think I wouldn't know how to approach a super smart looking dude (and I'm not sure I would really want to because it's just not my type).

JamesLondon11 · 26/07/2023 22:32

To be fair.. Most of the posters on this thread are people who's dating lives are finished.. with partners..

I'm trying to help my mate out and i believe women in their 30s will be more attracted to a man who looks smart, with clothes that accentuate his good fit body not looking like a nerd that just came from a star wars convention..

Same goes for jeans.. Baggy jeans are MINGING especially on 30-something men. Reminds me of the old fellas standing at the bar in Wetherspoons waiting for their pint..

I love star wars and Mandalorian and all things sci-fi but that's not the point. etc etc..

T-shirt guy for me too.

And I don't mind a bit of a tummy in it either.

I find overly groomed men slightly worrying actually. They look humourless.

Iheartmysmart · 26/07/2023 22:34

@Bonfire23 It’s this one from The Spark Company…

I couldn’t imagine anything worse in a mate than one trying to make me dress in a way they like rather than in a way I liked. I’d also hate to meet a man who’s friends tried to change him too. I’d much rather have a man dress exactly how he chooses too & if that includes character t-shirts then even better. I’m 41 & love a bloke that doesn’t take himself or his style too seriously, nothing sexier than man who is just unashamedly himself regardless of what ‘fashion’ dictates

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 26/07/2023 22:34

Boooo! I frequently wear a t-shirt that has "we're all mad here" on it, plus the Cheshire cat. I'm 50. I had a miserable as fuck husband injured 30's, who made me feel bad about myself.
Once I escaped that, colour was re introduced into my life.
Sometimes a t shirt can be a conversation starter.

Needmorelego · 26/07/2023 22:34

@AngelinaFibres why “nah”?
Obviously the blokes I know don’t wear these type of tshirts at work if they have a dress code/uniform - but when not at work this is what most wear.
The only bloke I know who doesn’t is my brother in law - who is the most boring man I have ever met.

Sorry but skinny jeans after 20 is a no no..straight leg, nice simple trainers or brown shoe/boot. Dress shirt, sports jacket...you look the business and fit in anywhere
I always try to be the best dressed man in the room...I've been married 30 years and I'm not looking for a new partner...just want to present the best of me....Plus I'm fucking ugly and the clothing help mask that fact!

MissingOkie · 26/07/2023 22:38

Logo T-shirt’s, plain T-shirt’s, whatever, all good.

A real turn off for me is a bloke on mumsnet with posts like these. Just gives me the ick. I always think ‘well he sure isn’t getting any without a huge personality transplant’. 😬

SocksAndTheCity · 26/07/2023 22:38

You believe you know what women think, do you? It might be time to lay off the Incel Channel on Youtube, or wherever it is you're getting this complete crap from.

Your mate sounds just fine to me.

POTC · 26/07/2023 22:38

I'm a single female, not 30s I grant you but 41 so not far over. I don't give a toss whether a bloke wears logo/image tshirts or not to be honest. Huge flashy designer names emblazoned across them would put me off but then they always have. I want someone I'm dating to feel comfortable in their clothes, not like they have to dress up for me all the time as I don't want to feel I have to do that for them!
