To find unpainted toenails gross?

I wouldn't dream of wearing sandals without unpainted toenails. I just think it looks horrible. Am I being weird? I don't care what anyone else's feet look like though tbh.

I'm not bothered by unpainted toenails (assuming they're not long and yellow) but find nails with fungal infections quite revolting.

Look at any photos... I am addicted to sandals, so I always look!

I started off the summer painting mine then it got too much running round after the kids to keep up with painting them, so I took it off one night intending to paint them the next but never got round to it. I'm embracing the no nail polish and do not give a shit. My good friend has done so as well, she's very glam, and she looks lovely with unpainted nails and sandals 😂

I am very lucky in that I have minimal dry skin and thank my lucky stars for that.

My toenails are painted all year round, I’m funny about it too. Even if you don’t paint them at least cut/file them if wearing sandals.

I've never painted my nails and I wear sandals and flip flops all the time in summer.
It's not my problem if you don't like it.
I'd rather see unpainted toenails than thick dead, cracked skin on heels.

I’m with you OP. I was recently on holiday with a mixed group of friends and not one of the men had painted their toe nails, it was so gross to see them by the pool. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything or not. Worse, one of them hadn’t removed his armpit or leg hair. So unhygienic.

It depends. I prefer to keep mine painted.

If the feet are well-cared for, the nails neat, trimmed and buffed, then bare nails can look pretty and youthful.

If the feet are rough and the toenails yellow and gnarly, yes, they look icky.

But there may be extenuating circumstances, which I try to keep in mind.

Apart from a couple of work meetings and when it's been raining hard, I've worn sandals every day since around May. I'm always barefoot at home and in the garden, and I can't remember the last time I wore socks, although I usually wear tights if Im wearing proper shoes.

And yup long toenails are gross and any long fingernails on men!

Really long toenails - anything poking out beyond where the toe ends - are horrible.

Yellow or badly kept toenails shouldn’t be out in public.

I don’t think unpainted is a problem though -painting them comes in and out of fashion - and went really out of fashion in the mid 00s as I remember.

I don’t see why men should be held to a lower standard of toenail maintenance because they’re men - they should definitely be keeping them clean and tidy the same as women if having them out in public. Polish optional for either sex.

Feet in general are gross. Putting polish on them does not improve them one bit.

Maybe some people wear false toenails if they have some missing and it gives them confidence.
Surely you'd damage your nail beds by gluing false toenails onto them directly? They don't grow out the way toenails do. When you're missing a toenail you're supposed to treat the nail bed really carefully.

What is horrible is really long toenails like fingernails, or false toenails.

God yes, I used to work with a woman who used to wear open toed sandals with very long varnished toe nails. It look seriously unpleasant.

My toenails are a weird shape (super short on the little toes) and polish on them looks weird.

Yabu its personal preference, why are you studying people's feet and judging them??

I don't like painted fingernails, especially the ones that have the fake gels.
