To find unpainted toenails gross?

I wouldn't dream of wearing sandals without unpainted toenails. I just think it looks horrible. Am I being weird? I don't care what anyone else's feet look like though tbh.

My DH refuses to paint his toenails. So gross. He sleeps in the spare room now.

Yabu, if people paint them I assume they are hiding fungal nails tbh. Looks unclean.

Maybe it feels like my feet are "dressed" with polish. Feel naked without it for some reason!

I'm 70 and have never painted my toe nails, it just wouldn't occur to me.
My sister, 6 years older has never not painted hers since being a teenager.
Dunno if my brother 11 years younger does his though.

How do you all manage your Asian friends who take off their shoes?

I find feet queasy anyway and I am even grossed out by the feet emoji or the stylised feet image used in chiropody logos, it makes me feel sick.

I have gel toenails done every 6 weeks without fail (I CBA doing pedicures) but do my own manicures weekly.

Do you have the same reaction to men's unpainted toe nails?!?

Fake nails are horrific, assume people have broken/ bitten nails surely people don't pay for those unhygienic monstrosities for no reason? V ugly.

Presumably this ire is only directed at women with unpainted toenails.

Clean and short nails that are unvarnished are way better looking that painted toenails that's been there for months and it's all chipping with gross grown out cuticles. Not to mention heels that are worthy being on display at the Jurassic Park 🤢.

Meh. My feet are ugly. I have weird wonky toes after years of dancing. I have rough skin that I just can't get rid of. My Adhd means I might hyperfixate for a while and use a pumice stone, foot file and intensive moisturiser for a while. Not that it makes a lot of difference. Then I move on to something else.

I live in sandals. Even with my ugly feet. Someone told me once they wouldn't show their feet if they looked like mine. Whatever.

If you like having painted nails then go for it. But unpainted ones aren't gross.

I think that's really strange. Why would having unpainted toenails be horrible? I don't normally go around looking at people's feet! Painted toenails look fine as do unpainted ones - I would only think they look awful if they have been painted and are really chipped. But either is better than ghastly acrylic nails.

How is it any different to unpainted finger nails?

I hate unvarnished toenails too. Irrational maybe, I don't care, but they gross me out a bit. Not a fan of feet in general - I have nice feet if I say so myself!!

Men's feet - omg - they are a whole new level of gross!! Keep your manky toenails out of my line of vision!! Cover them up!!!

I always paint my toenails from June to September because I prefer the look of them in summer shoes. You do see some truly awful feet out at this time of year, which I find a bit repellent but I just look away, it's not my problem (or indeed theirs if they're comfortable with it).

Haven't used nail varnish for decades. But in the spirit of the thread, especially as someone has admitted they would find my unpainted toenails vomitous, I will say that I find painted toenails quite grim and cheap. Isn't it weird how we are all different.

I've had my big toenails removed and as I'm probably never going to wear sandals again now I don't see much point in painting the other ones! I don't particularly notice other peoples feet all that much and don't really care whether they've painted their toenails or not. Maybe if they have really manky discoloured toenails they might look better painted over.

Yeah, you are being a bit weird. Feet are a normal body part. A lot of people are a bit squeamish about them, but expecting everyone should paint their nails or it's somehow 'gross' not to is very odd. Lots of people don't want to paint their nails.

YABU. Painted toenails often cover really manky nails underneath. A natural, clean, healthy nail looks fine.

What is horrible is really long toenails like fingernails, or false toenails.
