I don't know what these people think they are achieving. I think the mum was in a cab which looks like an electric car anyway, they refuse to let her get past.

Of course she's allowed to be worried but screaming " I'm not scared of you" ..what's that going to achieve.

The Sun is a shit rag written and designed to wind people up up

Well they didn’t tell her what to say..

amicissimma · 22/07/2023 18:28

"What gets me is this: why do they not do things like release computer viruses to cripple Chinese coal-fired power stations? Fund actions to send someone undercover to sabotage all the polluting plants?"

In June the UK had to fire-up a resting coal-fired power station as there was insufficient wind to produce enough electricity and it was too hot for many solar panals to work properly. Without using coal we couldn't all charge our electric vehicles, never mind use the other electrical devices which we rely on for comfort and well-being.

Obviously the OP, the person i quoted and every other person claiming the JSO stopped a mother from taking a sick child to the hospital and that's disgusting behaviour... Just pointing out that a lot of people have assumed a sick baby...if she's just going to the hospital for an outpatient appointment then theoretically the JSO has a legal right to protest and they are actually just inconveniencing people and not being horrible people with a 'chilling' lack of empathy like the hyperbolic person i replied to was claiming. Consultant doctors striked yesterday and Thursday which undoubtedly lead to deaths and poor patient outcomes but they also have a right to strike.

They're utter scumbags who can shove their legal right up their backsides.

My point was nobody cares if another road was open. Absolutely nobody except those who defend these idiots.

Marches or protests are organised, they don't happen out of nowhere ...🙄

You are aware that JSO very rarely announce their idiocy in advance, so what you actually want is for taxi drivers to join JSO as that would be the only way to find out.

I would of knocked him on his arse and kicked him in his face as i stepped over him.

Would HAVE

StefanosHill · 22/07/2023 18:30

It’s a bit redundant to let everyone know you’ll cause mass disruption

I mean why blame just the taxi driver anyway? Every driver could just avoid that road

Flickersy · 22/07/2023 18:30

WildUnchartedWaters · 22/07/2023 18:27

You questioned her. More than once. Literally or otherwise.

I'm appalled we are at a point where we are suggesting someone would lie about that.

On another thread the clowns were commended for letting an ambulance through as if that's some kind of noble action.

Questioning someone's rationale on an anonymous public forum where the thread is inviting comments on the situation is not the same as going to someone's door and insisting they answer to you.

I'm not sure how you're not getting this. Lots of posts on MN question people's actions all the time.

Not many people would question whether a mother actually had a sick baby.

Flickersy · 22/07/2023 17:04

If your child was that ill why would you waste time arguing when you could ask the taxi driver to turn around and take a side street? JSO are a pain but they don't block all the roads - just go round.

I rather suspect the baby was not in a critical state.

I agree. I think the Sun is blowing this up into something it isn't.

AgnesX · 22/07/2023 18:33

That the sun as much as I think theyre despicable, it's ridiculous to sau they're responsible.

Twyford · 22/07/2023 18:32

I agree. I think the Sun is blowing this up into something it isn't.

Yes let's blame the sun, the members of the public, the taxi drivers....

BeeHappy12 · 22/07/2023 18:37

The mother never once said the baby was sick, just that she has a baby in the car...if the baby was sick I'd hope she'd sau anything at all to suggest this...'i have a sick baby in the car', 'my sick baby needs urgent medical attention', 'i need to urgently take my sick baby to the hospital'....the article is just written by climate change deniers trying and succeeding at pushing their anti climate agenda.

Flickersy · 22/07/2023 18:37

WildUnchartedWaters · 22/07/2023 18:32

Not many people would question whether a mother actually had a sick baby.

Given she doesn't say her baby is sick in the video, I have no idea how you can so confidently assert the baby was critically ill.

She says (as far as I can make out from the video through the car horns) "I have a newborn baby in the car..... My baby..... I'm not scared of you.... Newborn baby in the car, going to hospital".

Going to hospital could be anything from minor outpatient appointment to life or death emergency. Why are you so confident it's the latter when we have no evidence for that?

StefanosHill · 22/07/2023 18:37

AgnesX · 22/07/2023 18:33

And what.... your point is what?

I’m commenting on your post re the Sun it’s not that hard

Why are you being aggro on all this.

Idiot taxi driver etc. You do realise that if they could know all drivers could, why are any stuck there?

Twyford · 22/07/2023 18:39

WildUnchartedWaters · 22/07/2023 18:32

Nowhere in the video does she claim that the baby is sick.

Nobody cares.
It's such a stupid point of discussion designed to distract

WildUnchartedWaters · 22/07/2023 18:41

Twyford · 22/07/2023 18:39

Nowhere in the video does she claim that the baby is sick.

But that was actuallu response to a PP who claimed all of mumsner question posters.

They do draw a line.

It doesnt matter. The woman had every right to get through and I canr honestly believe women are debating this

JenniferBooth · 22/07/2023 18:42

Imagine the AIBU

The OP posts that shes running late for a NHS out patient appointment Imagine the answers she would get.

Why are you so late? Couldnt you leave earlier Dont you know the NHS is on its knees.

Well i was late cos JSO were sitting in the road.

Oh thats OK then They are actually just inconvieniencing you and also inconvieniencing the NHS.

"dont you know the NHS is on its knees" only seems to matter when its the patient that can be blamed.

JenniferBooth · 22/07/2023 18:42

If an out patient appointment is missed it can take MONTHS to get another one.

StefanosHill · 22/07/2023 18:45

I agree too. The right wing press want the plebs to bicker amongst themselves whilst their political allies in government get up to no good.

I understand what you're saying, it's not good to be late to or miss appointments. All i was saying in my response to some who called it 'chilling to stop a sick child from getting to hospital' is that the first point is an inconvenience and the second is hyperbolic and presumptuous.

Lots of things in life are inconvenient but not necessarily chillingly abhorrent.

Toomanycaketins · 22/07/2023 18:48

But if we don’t know, how did the protesters know with such certainty that the baby was fine to sit in traffic for hours and miss it’s appointment? They should have just showed some compassion and common sense and let them through. They’ve still disrupted and peed off 1000 other people.
