I don't know what these people think they are achieving. I think the mum was in a cab which looks like an electric car anyway, they refuse to let her get past.

But which existed in this case, as evidenced by the video.

However you keep insisting the bollards that very much exist between lanes, don’t exist, so how exactly would a vehicle drive through metal bollards? As someone who knows which road this is in E&C, I have seen these bollards with my actual eyeballs, you’ll also note that the other lane isn’t empty as JSO fools couldn’t figure out how to successfully block the entire junction.

What a drama queen. Apart from anything else her idiot taxi driver should have have known better.

Not entirely sure what she thought that was going to achieve.

Flickersy · 22/07/2023 18:15

No, I'm questioning the rationale of wasting time arguing with JSO protesters when you have an alternative option to get your child to hospital.

I also am sceptical about the exact facts of the matter and the Sun's agenda.

The sun isnt creating mythical videos of the idiotic things they are doing.

They deserve no defence. Zero.

And again, it isnt the mother you should be judging. She doesnt answer to you, or them.

@TRexTara " Well they pick and choose don't they? How many times has KJK been arrested now just for speaking her mind in a safe way in public? It's a joke. "

You're being kind calling it a joke, it's despicable! Getting into trouble with the police for being untoward about Peter Files, just took the biscuit! Absolutely disgraceful!

@Flickersy " Then why not turn round and take another route? "

Yeah, and use more petrol in the process! :-/ smh!

" And people don't seem to care about illegality when revelling in the idea of running these people over. "

If they want to sit in the middle of the road, playing silly games, to win silly prizes, including a Darwin Award posthumously that's their look out!
No sympathy from me at all, for any retribution they might have to cope and seethe about and if the police won't move them, then whatever happens is down to their inaction and the public shouldn't be held responsible for whatever they have to do, in order to get to their work, to feed their families, whilst a bunch of jobless soap dodgers cause disruption. About time we started to deal with these groups - JSO, XR tra's, with fire.

@renamedbutsame " These oil protesters are beaten up and dragged by burly men like animals on some video recordings ...not nice for
anyone involved "

Oh, i dunno, i can see how it might relieve some of the stress felt by those whose livelihoods are being disrupted for no good reason!

Has this really turned into a class debate by some.
The rich telling the poor what to do.?
Are all the protestors from a certain class?
Why do so any MN discussions become skewed by envy and misinformation.

Dale Vince, a major backer of JSO is estimated to have a net worth of around £107 million, from his wind farm company. So no benefit to him then of the UK moving more and more to wind power.

Incidentally, he has donated nearly £1.5 million to the Labour Party. Doubt it will influence their stand on energy, though.

“@ivykaty44 most people, and especially Londoners are aware of alternative public transport. But if I needed to get a sick person to hospital I would use a car. I would not risk a busy tube or shove them in a basket on a bike. You sound quite brainwashed.”

and deluded! Can’t believe some of the comments on here.

U cant have it both ways though
A few days ago there was a thread here hysterical that the planets on fire and its too late to do anything about it

What does this mean? There aren’t only two ways… it’s not like heads stop climate change, tails, save baby. That poor woman is just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

when you think what risks volunteers took to save the vulnerable and get medicine in to those in besieged cities at the start of the war in Ukraine, it makes these activists look like cowardly numpties.

Her taxi driver should have known better? Are taxi drivers meant to predict JSO blocking roads now? If you have children you may not be concerned about their welfare when they are unwell, good parents who love their children do.

Dont be so silly. Theyd say oh okay and either take public transport or drive.all the way back round. And they wouldn't be at all tempted to hit them cause that's illegal. And anywa7 the sun might be biased.

I haven't defended JSO. I think they're idiots.

I'm not asking the mother to answer to me.

I am commenting on a situation that to my mind is being blown out of proportion by certain sections of the media and being used to push an anti-environmental agenda, as clearly shown by a fair number of posts on this thread.

There were lots of other ways this situation could have been resolved. It wasn't an all or nothing crisis.

You are. You've said what she should have done and why didnt she and implies he baby wasnt ill.

I find these kind of posts tedious. If you're fine with being disrupted by idiots then good for you. Nobody else should have to be, nor is it on us to provide a solution.

Upset? upset? i'm incandescent is what i am! You might not think you're lecturing but that's exactly how you come across.
I've seen what grinding poverty does to people, their families and their communities. The dependencies on alcohol/drugs in an effort to escape even for a short time, the crushing feelings of hopelessness when there's no work, when the poverty has led to love flying out the window and divorce coming in through the door, splitting families and resulting in heavier spirals into drug/alcohol abuse and then homelessness quite often. I've seen it play out many times, far too many times to sit here and have a bunch of hypocrites lecture me while they're stopping people getting to their work so that they can put food on the table and clothes on the backs of their kids. Are you going to fully financially support them if they lose their jobs thanks to JSO/XR getting them sacked for bad timekeeping? Are you/they? No i bet you hot foot it away then.

Well said!! I feel exactly the same way!! I am living in poverty and have done my whole life. No one need lecture me about my carbon footprint. Never flown, don't drive, haven't been abroad since I was 8 (ferry to France), at least 90% of my clothing is second hand, I barely eat meat because I can no longer afford to and then audacity for people to preach to me about "making adjustments" (I'm not saying that comment was directed to me personally)!

I am sure that the huge majority of those protesters and those that support them have a way bigger carbon footprint than I do and probably a lot of the people they're preventing from getting to their jobs too. The sheer arrogance of these people is astonishing.

StefanosHill · 22/07/2023 18:21

How does a taxi driver predict where JSO are?

Morons give the taxi drivers 7 days notice of where theyl pop out. Obviously all other alternate roads will be free because no other car will be taking alternate roads too.

The sun's reporting isn't influencing them tho. I dont read the sun and I hate them
I have eyes I can see the videos

Perhaps you and other similar.cool posters could do training sessions in how one should behave in that scenario.

Who cares

Obviously the OP, the person i quoted and every other person claiming the JSO stopped a mother from taking a sick child to the hospital and that's disgusting behaviour... Just pointing out that a lot of people have assumed a sick baby...if she's just going to the hospital for an outpatient appointment then theoretically the JSO has a legal right to protest and they are actually just inconveniencing people and not being horrible people with a 'chilling' lack of empathy like the hyperbolic person i replied to was claiming. Consultant doctors striked yesterday and Thursday which undoubtedly lead to deaths and poor patient outcomes but they also have a right to strike.

You questioned her. More than once. Literally or otherwise.

I'm appalled we are at a point where we are suggesting someone would lie about that.

On another thread the clowns were commended for letting an ambulance through as if that's some kind of noble action.

Well there was one obvious solution and that was for the JSO protesters to get out of the way...if they are that thick not to realise that they would get the sort of backlash they are now getting then, quite frankly, they are idiots. I, for 1, refuse to be lectured by idiots.
