Friend topless in front of DH

Went to a friend's house - just her, me and DH. I went to the loo. When I came back in the room, she was breastfeeding her 8-month-old.

She'd removed whole top and bra on both sides, so was topless, with the non-feeding boob not covered up by baby. DH was doing a decent job of keeping his eyes on her face though 🤣

AIBU to think that's a bit odd?

I know I can't ever comment to her. Just wondered what to make of it privately, especially since she's always been a wee bit flirty with DH.

But I've never breastfed... so maybe this is normal, or maybe I'm just a prude. Would you breastfeed alone with a friend's DH? And if so would you cover up more than this?

Ive been breastfeeding for just over 3 years and am definitely not shy. I breastfeed in front of anyone and wouldn't think twice about it and both of mine like to feed from both sides. But I'd never be flashing them about if other people were around. That's odd.

This is not about breastfeeding. So many of us have breastfed. We don't randomly lob out our breasts in front of unsuspecting people.

A new mother taking her top off in front a HCP, her mother, or friend to assist in feeding = normal.

OP's friend removing her top to expose both breasts to feed an 8 month old after op leaves the room, in front of a man she's flirted with = not normal.

Totally, I leaked constantly, would soak through breast pads every night and was woken up by needing to change them, it was horrendous! I did have massive over supply issues so don't think that helped 🥴

It's very odd OP. Some people can be very precious about breastfeeding. We are all different of course but I wouldn't have got my boobs out like that. I'd feed in front of people but in a way I was covered up.

I know norks 🤣🤣 had to use that as not heard it in a while.
oh my leaky norks 🤣 were horrendous I would wake up with a stiff crusty pyjama top every morning where I'd been leaking in my sleep. No idea how as looking at the size of my tiny norks you'd think I'd only be able to produce enough to fill a thimble! but no the bloody stuff kept coming I could've kept a dairy going 🤣

It's a bit weird, I always wore the tops that you could very a bit more discreet in.
However, strangest BF moment was a woman in a burka BF in McDonalds. Boobs out, head covered.

I think women should be free to breastfeed without shame. BUT , anyone knows this would make for a slightly uncomfortable dynamic. I'd find it a little odd

So in the few minutes you were in the toilet her baby absolutely needed feeding then and there and she had to remove all her clothing? In those couple of minutes?
Absolutely nothing against breastfeeding but this is just bizarre.

Exactly this. Weird as fuck to 100% lob your baps out - especially in front of a friend's husband, when you are 'breastfeeding,' and then claim half the world do it! Do they fucking heck as like! 😂

I fed all of mine, here, there and everywhere. Did breastfeeding support training to help other mums and have no inhibition about my breasts.

BUT they always have and always will be secondary sex characteristics.

People can be weird, perverse or have fetishes. Being a woman or mother doesn't rule that out.

There is absolutely no need whatsoever for her to have whipped her top off in front of her friend's husband. Especially with an older baby.

FWIW I was once feeding my newborn in a friend's and her DH walked in and said, 'oh he's lovely' and leaned over to kiss him on the head completely unaware he was latched on. His wife told him I was feeding and he was surprised and a little embarrassed. I realise sometimes people struggle and may not be able to quite as discreet as that BUT the OP example is bonkers.

How did she dress pre-baby. If she was 'revealing'/ had no hang ups', maybe it's just an extension of that.

I think it's a long way between "not covering up while breastfeading" and "being naked from the waist up to breastfeed". A long way as in the lenght of the equator.
