Greeny, my lovely, my comment was a very hypothetical, in fact, let's call it a musing, about a particular scenario that is most likely highly unusual. Kinda like the 24/7 nannying musing that uneases you so. Dont take it seriously, because I'm not taking this thread seriously At All.
In fact, I think I am in Armadillo's mythical Garden of Eden on this subject . I know what I need to do to make ends meet, and I know what others feel they have to do. We all do what we think we are best at. Ergo, I say arsebiscuits to the lot of it
Xenia, I take your point about smp, but, those who's salaries take a monumental drop to the statutory £112.75 per week usually have safeguards to ensure adequate income throughout that period. They'll either be going back to work soon if their earnings are such, or they can afford not to go back. Or, they'll have a stake in the company they work for, and the same company claims back the SMP they have in fact paid themselves. Quite a lovely little bonus that one, particularly if they are paying a salary just up to the LEL, whilst continuing to take dividends etc.
