Ah, well that's one thing we can agree on.

stuffitllama · 25/02/2008 19:47

stuffitllama · 25/02/2008 19:47

now i really am off
not allowed in the house

Desiderata · 25/02/2008 19:50

Yep. Rolling a cigarette is one of the few things I'm very talented at.

whats imv?

is this another bloody acronym I can't keep up with?

chelsygirl · 25/02/2008 20:08

only worked out pmsl the other day and I've been on here nearly 5 years!!

hatwoman · 25/02/2008 20:09

I assume it's "in my view". I'm an imo or imho person myself

chelsygirl · 25/02/2008 20:12

ah! thanks!

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 20:16

Mud pie?! I'm not even going to attempt to engage with that remark

I see nothing disingenuous in my explaining my comments further when asked to. Or is it the fact that custy found my post funny that has knocked you off your perch?

Either way, I'm happy with what I posted and with the more specific explanations I later added.

Anything else got your goat lennygrrl, or have you finished with me now?

stuffitllama · 25/02/2008 20:19

hey what ? am all calm after cig and this is all blowing up again ?

Bangandthedirtisgone · 25/02/2008 20:23

Greensleeves, your comment was a bit incendiary, and you didn't place it in the context in which you meant it.

Why don't you just admit to that and let it go? It wouldn't kill you to admit you were wrong, or at least that your post wasn't particularly clear.

Bangandthedirtisgone · 25/02/2008 20:25

(and by that I mean your "infamous outsourcing childcare post")

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 20:25

I do quite frequently admit I'm wrong, and have apologised lots of times on MN, I don't find that difficult where I feel it's warranted. I don't feel moved to do so this time, because I don't regret anything I've posted. I wasn't angry or excited when I posted on the other thread and I don't feel I need to change anything.

I think there are posters who behaved very badly on that thread though. None of whom have appeared remorseful.

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 20:26

outsourcing upbringing. To me there is a difference. Ad nauseam.

Bangandthedirtisgone · 25/02/2008 20:28

Greeny, no offence love, but you haven't exactly conducted yourself with decorum.

Your "little rich kid" and "lace trimmed knicers" comments were just plain strange and I can't help but think that something had touched a nerve. Are you jealous of women who can afford nice things?

hatwoman · 25/02/2008 20:29

has to be said my opinion of some mners plummeted today. and of some people's clinginess to outdated class-based assumptions.

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 20:29

Don't you think you are being a bit spiteful now?

mrsruffallo · 25/02/2008 20:32

Leave Greeny alone. fgs
I don't think anything she has posted deserves a witch hunt.
Can't we just leave it now?
Where I come from accusing someone of wearing lace trimmed knickers/ coming across as a spoilt girl is quite mild
Can't we just relax? Or are your lace trimmed knickers making you itchy? [ducks)

Bangandthedirtisgone · 25/02/2008 20:32

No, I'm not being spiteful. It was a genuine question, I wanted to know why you had such an issue with people with money.

Sorry if you find that offensive, I was just curious.

DaDaDa · 25/02/2008 20:32

I apologise if my Parp was insufficiently erudite. I was under the impression that in established Mumsnet shorthand that signified irritation with a thread or particular argument to the point of being rendered inarticulate. Sorry if I was mistaken in that.

The duplicity in qualifications of previous statements to suit a shifting argument got my goat. That and the general smuggery. But I'll heed Armadillo's wise advice and trust my own and DW's judgement when it comes to childcare.

Don't have a Nanny btw. Do both work long hours. Do have to pay the mortgage on our palatial 2 bed flat. Don't deny feeling defensive about that.

soapbox · 25/02/2008 20:32

Bloody hell - all this bickering!

What's said is said. Time to move on!

mrsruffallo · 25/02/2008 20:36

I don't think Greensleeves has a problem with people with money!!!
Are you the flip side of class war Bang?

Bangandthedirtisgone · 25/02/2008 20:38

I'm not really interested in what you think MrsR, I was asking Greensleeves.

Desiderata · 25/02/2008 20:38

I agree. This is a witch-hunt, ladies. Greeny doesn't have a problem with people who have money any more than I do.

Some of the Nanny threads just read like shite to any casual observer. Those getting all chippy about it should perhaps bear in mind that their musings over their nannies are being read by thousands of people. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect, every now and again, the odd 'rude' comment.

We're honestly not jealous. We are bemused, and that's an entirely different animal.
