because some of the posters on the thread wanted something to get their very expensive lace-trimmed knickers in a twist about

K999 · 25/02/2008 16:00

Think it meant passing the childcare onto someone else, ie nanny, childminder, nursery? Was that it?

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 16:02

No, it didn't, for the umpteenth time. I use a nursery. I also work in one, and several creches.

grouphug · 25/02/2008 16:02

Thanks I understand. I was watching that mtv Kerry Katona crazy in love thing and she handed her baby over to the nanny at 11 at night and I felt uneasy with it the nanny must be there 24/7.

K999 · 25/02/2008 16:03

ooh, calm down, calm down....

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 16:04

Yes grouphug that's the sort of scenario I feel very uneasy about.

Kewcumber · 25/02/2008 16:06

thats very snide greensleeves (even with an added ) and IIRC your comment was very easily misunderstood.

pagwatch · 25/02/2008 16:07

so deleting the thread achieved.....?

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 25/02/2008 16:08

how do you know what goes on in the majority of homes where there are nannies are you there spying on them
kk is hardly representative of most working mothers is she
how do you know that the parents don't do the meal planning and tell the nanny what to feed the child etc etc have you conducted a survey and what was the sample size or are you talking about anecdotal personal experience

yurt1 · 25/02/2008 16:08

Oh I know what you mean GS.

Page62 · 25/02/2008 16:11

oh god, not again.................

ENOUGH!!!!!!

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 25/02/2008 16:11

sorry couldn't resist

yurt1 · 25/02/2008 16:13

missed it first time round

Page62 · 25/02/2008 16:17

i know what you mean. just this is becoming so addictive -- i find i even forgot to email the nanny on her blackberry to make sure she puts all the kids to bed before DH and i get home. They are just so noisy and needy, so cramps our style. but they do look very cute when we push them in their bugaboo prams on the weekend - but DH thinks maybe we should get a weekend nanny so my current one can get a break. honestly, some people do not understand the headache involved in organising staff.

chelsygirl · 25/02/2008 16:17

I've worked as a nanny and had sole charge from 7.30am to 8.30pm, when kids got up then went to bed later at 8.30pm

know what you mean greensleeves

also went on holiday with a family, I had prem baby in my room, parents only saw him for 1 hour in the evening when I had dinner

now if that isn't outsourcing I don't know what is!

grouphug · 25/02/2008 16:18

Kerry has a chef too lol.

chelsygirl · 25/02/2008 16:19

page62, your made up scenario probably happens in some houses!

grouphug · 25/02/2008 16:20

OMG chelsygirl that is so sad.

chelsygirl · 25/02/2008 16:21

I know!

this was 20 years ago (in the 80's) in central London, hope mums and dads are more involved now!

Greensleeves · 25/02/2008 16:21

Quite chelsygirl, I reserve my right to "feel uneasy" about people doing that with their children and to post about it too.

Page62 there really ARE people like that.

kayzisbroody · 25/02/2008 16:22

Chelsygirl, I dont think I could do that.

By all means have a nanny, I work and mil has my ds but I couldn't only see him for 1 hour a day.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 25/02/2008 16:23

Gone but not forgotten. It's spirit lives on........

BeauLocks · 25/02/2008 16:24

Like a phoenix from the ashes.....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 25/02/2008 16:25

God, imagine feeling uneasy about it but having no choice? Scary.

doggiesayswoof · 25/02/2008 16:25

Ah christ I'm going to have to hide this one too...
