Colleague reported me to RSPCA

Not sure what to do with this one…..
I work for a big company and have been taking my dog to work with me
this week as my usual dog
walker is away. We’re in north Scotland so It’s not hot, I leave all the car windows open 1/3 way and come out hourly to check on her, offer water and a wee and walk her in my lunch hour.
oddly (to me) yesterday a colleague from a different department I don’t know at all was standing by
my car when I came for one the checks-
she told me she was reporting me for leaving my dog in the car all day, that I was an idiot and that I should be ashamed. I was so shocked I didn’t say anything, and today Found a note on my windscreen at the end of the day from RSPCA to say they’d had a welfare call about a dog locked in the car, they’d come and found her calm with windows open and had a chat with her thru the open window (?!) and were satisfied she was well cared for and NFA.

do I just leave it at that? Or try and find the name of the women who reported me and complain on basis of her being so rude? It all just seems so odd.

And yet welfare officer happy
she’s calm, and ok and he’s recommended NFA so I’m all for guidance but I have her with me
this week and doing my
best to keep her comfortable as assessed by SPCA soooo….🤷‍♀️

Hopefully someone will contact SSPCA tomorrow regarding the officer not taking any action against you. You don't deserve to have a dog.

The OP was mad
She left her dog in the car
She said it was fine
But no one agreed with her so
She started a strange thread

The comments about my
eye sight are just hurtful.

@TheShellBeach is that mad as in angry or mad as in a fucking fruit loop?!

BluNomad · 14/07/2023 00:12

I think the overwhelming majority agree that you shouldn’t have your dog in the car all day, whether or not you agree is neither here nor there, please don’t do it again x

PoseyFlump · 14/07/2023 00:13

How about we see this note then OP?

It’s for
one more
day. SPCA happy with set up. The end.

can I ask you to explain why? I’m genuinely confused
as she’s well cared for, it’s a one off
week of coming to work with me and staying in the car where
she
is cool and calm and has hourly
cuddles from me and an hour walk at lunchtime, even the welfare
officer said she was calm and all ok- so with how rude she was I don’t see how she is being the only sensible one?

Every person who left their dog in the car thought they’d be ok. That’s how animals get harmed. Your dog could have seen another dog and gone mad I. The car and got herself stuck in the window, the stirring wheel etc. there are thousands of things that could have happened, never mind leaving her confined in a tiny space for hours. Your colleague did the right thing and you need to take a hard look at yourself.

spir1t · 14/07/2023 00:13

Wake up OP, you are not funny. You are an animal abuser.

I definitely can’t post

Is that above or below the SPCA and RSPCA logos which both appear on the note?

You could surely crop it, or cover his details with something?

Redact it.

if you think teasing me
about mental health or my eyesight is funny I think that says everything I need
to know about how unkind you must be in
real life. Just wow.

I have contacted the SSPCA to ask them to clarify their advice on dogs left i cars.

it seems odd that an animal welfare officer would condone and almost encourage this behaviour. But it does need clarified.

This is a good idea. We should all contact both the SSPCA and the RSPCA for clarification on keeping dogs in cars all day in work carparks.

I think they would be pleased to have public engagement and support on reviewing and updating their policy on this.

We can't have people thinking this is acceptable. Next time the officer will hopefully 'take further action'.

PoseyFlump · 14/07/2023 00:17

Which secretly means even your supporters don't believe you.

Don't worry spir1t, there is no way this thread is for real!! The OP reckons her failing eyesight is causing her to write in haiku, that her dog has chats through the car windscreen, and that her office car park is a doggy daycare of dogs in cars! I think OP has had a few too many g & t's and decided to start a bonkers thread for no reason :)

The end?
