His wiki page says he’s a Christian and a weekly church goer. Not a great ambassador for them, ah well

because you know her, her views, her feelings, the nature of her relationship?

No because he has betrayed her, and their marriage and their children. Not once but numerous times. He must have lied to her so many times. How can you go back after that?

Since when has being a Christian stopped people being pervs 😂😂

Quite. My Dad was abused by a Catholic priest as a child. I went to an all girls convent where sexual abuse was rife. Fuck all of that.

I was only interested in this story hoping that The BBC TV Licence fee might be abolished as I am struggling to pay it. I wonder if I send in a picture of my minge, they'll accept that instead?

And I’m done 😂😂😂

julylover · 12/07/2023 23:27

How come pretty much everyone on here was gunning for Philip Schofield and yet feeling sorry for Huw? What is the difference? Sorry if I’m missing something!

maybe that's why the priests/church leaders seem to have been rather silent on the burning issue of the day.
That and they know they can't compete with a certain strain of mumsnetter who have adopted the holy flame of neo puritanism.
Rebelling while reinventing/recycling the poisonous gossip/lip sucking.

@Terven

He's not Anglican he's Presbyterian

What shocks me is how much newsreaders are paid!

If someone at the BBC can afford to spunk 35k up the wall, they are being paid too much of our money!

And it's amazing how someone's MH is affected when they get caught doing sleazy shit! My sympathies are with his wife and kids - I bet their mental health isn't that great right now either.

One of my friends just told me he's on £500k a year to read the news.

Pacific101 · 12/07/2023 23:48

I think empathy is needed. His battles with depression are decades long, this could be bipolar or severe depression with erratic behaviour.

If he’s a child grooming perv, then empathy is not needed. There’s no excuse. It’s disgusting.

If he has done it, the reporting of his poor mental health is sickening.

And Premier League footballers get paid £375,000+ a week to kick a bag of wind around.

So what's your point?

It should be made perfectly clear that he hasn’t been sectioned, or even admitted - he’s checked himself into a private clinic to escape - leaving his wife and children to deal with the fallout. No, there hasn’t been a criminal charge but he has clearly abused his position of power with both colleagues and vulnerable teenagers.

Notbeinfunnehbut · 13/07/2023 00:03

There’s so many aspects to this
I hope this is the end of the Sun they have behaved in a dispicable way.

However I find it interesting that often with serial adulterers and perverts , mental health is often used as a tool to manipulate and abuse those around them. Because mental health sufferers can still be very bad people it’s not mutually exclusive.

I wonder how much of that poor woman’s life has been wasted raising his many children and playing nurse maid whilst he’s being playing away and appeasing his guilty conscience….my thoughts are with his wife & children tonight, no one else.

SpringViolet · 13/07/2023 00:03

I too am shocked by all the ‘Poor Huw’ apologists on here.

I wonder how many would be sympathetic to a wealthy 61 year man and father of 5 adult children (who wasn’t a respected newsreader) encouraging their 17 year old child, as a PP said young enough to be his grandchild, to send them sexual photos in exchange for thousands of pounds. Then tried to make himself into the victim by getting his betrayed wife to put out a statement that he’s had a mental health crisis and been hospitalised for damage limitation.

Their DC must be revolted.

MrsPapadopolis · 13/07/2023 00:04

@PodgePie but he has clearly abused his position of power with both colleagues and vulnerable teenagers.

And the evidence for this is???

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 13/07/2023 00:10

Lol @SpringViolet you can do better than read TheSun surely!?

Because that is where these unfounded rumours have come from..... they have an axe to grind and all the dumb readers are absorbing it all willingly

Pacific101 · 13/07/2023 00:10

HE’s PR machine and child grooming apologists are on a night out to mumsnet I see.

Fab973 · 13/07/2023 00:10

It’s been all over the news - multiple colleagues of his have come forward and presented suggestive texts he sent them and literally said they felt abused by his position of power.

His wife could have issued a denial when she issued a statement. She didn't. That would be the first thing you would say if accused of something you didnt do. Him being admitted to hospital without denying the allegations does suggest he is not innocent of what he's been accused of. BBC workers are now coming forward (not via the Sun), also accusing him of inappropriate sexual behaviour. All these accusers stepping forward can't all be lying...

Starseeking · 13/07/2023 00:17

@MrsPapadopolis I was responding to @LadyBird1973's comment. HTH.

It’s also now widely known that the boy he paid was a young drug addict so in a particularly vulnerable position that HE used to his advantage.

UndercoverCop · 13/07/2023 00:22

People seem very confused by the wording of the police statement, they've said there is no evidence of a criminal offence in relation to the first alleged victim.
Well there wouldn't be if he won't give a statement and his phone got "accidentally dropped off a boat" a la Vardy. Very strange how the first young male had access to such expensive lawyers given he has a crack addiction and no money and Huw was reported to have been in contact since his parents made these allegations.
The other matters have not been investigated as no one has made an evidenced complaint to police yet, it may also not be a met police issue depending on where those alleged incidents took place.
Doesn't mean it's not coming.

Also even if there are no criminal charges, are we saying the threshold for inappropriate behaviour from a public figure (or anyone for that matter) is as rigorous at the criminal burden of proof?!

UndercoverCop · 13/07/2023 00:23

Even Schofield gave his own statement and didn't leave it to his poor wife , just one more humiliation for her
