Oh, we've been infiltrated by MRAs alright. That happened some time ago.
And there's no nuance on these boards (again an established MRA tactic) between criminal behaviour and behaviour likely to bring your employer into disrepute: for which people can and are disciplined and fired.
I'm a lecturer. My students are adults. A relationship with a student (the thought is positively GRIM to me) would still represent a huge imbalance of power and therefore an exploitation; it would be a breach of contract and a breach of trust, and I would rightly be dismissed from my post if I attempted to engage in it.
Likewise, Andrew Windsor, whatever else he has or hasn't done, was an unelected diplomat of this country and was photographed hanging out with convicted sex traffickers. That alone makes him unfit for post.
'Mental health' is not an excuse for predatory behaviour. Mental illness/depression doesn't automatically turn men into sexual predators if that tendency wasn't there to start with. I'm sure that in some patients bizarre behaviour is a symptom, but it's really unhelpful to assume that connection.
As for the 'witch hunt', I'm not interested in salacious gossip. I couldn't have cared less about Phillip Schofield, and I couldn't care less about Huw Edwards. The issue is bigger than this: it's about establishment protection of male sexual proclivities, seemingly at the cost of everything else. It's about questioning why that's the case.
And it's vital those questions are asked, and that they continue to be asked. And if you believe the 'right' people to do this are not notorious tabloid rags like The Sun - then ask yourself: why are they seemingly the only option left for shining sunlight on these predatory men because everyone else is busy rugsweeping, denying and excusing their behaviour?
