How come his police investigation is over within days, when the average time to search a phone for indecent images by the police is over 12 months?

They presumably started with whatever the Sun and the parents had, plus the young person's statement If all that amounted to nothing they presumably don't waste further time on a baseless allegation.

But you are on social media aren't you? Mumsnet?

This thing is more like an early 2000s forum site, than a 2020s social media site. It's not so algorithmically driven.

🙄 Now you want evidence? None of that seemed to matter during the witch hunt.

Give it a break, at least consider their children if you can’t bring yourself to believe his wife.

The mob won't be happy till they have a head on a spike.

When things like this happen, it makes me realise why public hangings were well attended and fun days out for some.....

PurplePansy05 · 12/07/2023 22:54

And now I could sue you for defamation because I have never done what you're suggesting. You're really an odious type with a clear agenda on this thread. Many of us see through you.

When you're done tearing apart the man who owes everyone everything because he reads an auto cue.

I dont have an agenda so theres nothing to see through. Your winding it up and watching it go might be your tactic for Huw but it wont work on me I'm afraid, second hand bullying is pathetic.

Others have agreed with me and nobody else is targeting like you are, so you can leave off with tbe wolf pack tactics.

Like I said I'm not engaging however much you goad.

TheOccasionalFag · 12/07/2023 22:57

*I just don't get it

Hugasauras · 12/07/2023 22:58

Jon Ronson has a good book about public shaming actually. Worth a read if you're interested in that type of thing (not public shaming people but the kind of psychology behind it).

The BBC has not covered itself in glory in how they've handled this they've hung out everyone to dry including HE's wife and children(who've done nothing wrong), HE's alleged victims and HE himself and are seemingly happy to put it as a more important news story than a war. Yet they knew about this since May.

I really wonder why the BBC exists any more, this level of reporting and conduct could be found in any number of commercial news organisations.

Plus they covered up for Savile.

Interesting how employees only felt they could come forward once this was public. That says a lot, none of it good for the BBC.

I suspect statements like that make Rupert Murdoch a very happy man.

halfpintshandypants · 12/07/2023 22:58

Exploiting children is not a ‘mental health’ episode.

The power is why they do it. That’s the thrill.

Its not a lack of judgment. It’s planned.

How 3 allegations of messaging are believed and discussed while a woman saying her husband is effectively sectioned is dismissed says it all about modern day social media.

Who says they're 'believed'? Do you understand what 'allegation' means?

Ironic given it's an allegation against huw which has received 28 odd pages of vile posts.

I was referring to the posters on here.who clearly believe it, yet dismiss his wife's statement and outright say they're lying.

ThereIbledit · 12/07/2023 23:01

How is hospitalised due to mental health crisis, happy?

PurplePansy05 · 12/07/2023 23:02

Coming back to a sensible discussion and ignoring some very odd and unwarranted posts...

In terms of the future, unless more new allegations are reported to the police, it looks like this is going to be an internal BBC investigation and that's it. HE was considering retirement anyway, they'll probably settle it confidentially between themselves and...that's it? I don't think there'll be more to it tbh.

I do however think all media should look very carefully at their internal policies, HR teams and culture. This includes the papers who as we all know even from recent court proceedings have a lot to answer for in other areas...

He never, ever crossed my mind. His wife has released a statement on his behalf.

Were you off of the planet the last 3/4 days?

eggcupboard · 12/07/2023 23:04

A selfie of Huw staring into the camera, flashing his naked arse with his pants round his ankles, has been leaked recently as well. It's all coming out now.

ExtraOnions · 12/07/2023 23:06

It’s that picture a fake though ?

The media witch hunt- person condemned before anyone had heard or seen any evidence. Now the same people think they are entitled to see evidence are asking for ‘evidence’ of a person’s mental health issues🙄 give me strength.

Standingchair1 · 12/07/2023 23:07

The victims mum’s way of fighting was to sell the story to The Sun. How admirable.

ODFOx · 12/07/2023 23:07

Thesenderofthiscard · 12/07/2023 18:17

‘ If the police have decided it’s not criminal then I don’t understand why there is such a furore. ‘

well, indecent images are from 17 years or younger ( age of consent is irrelevant ) put in place to try to prevent grooming.

but if you think there’s nowt wrong with a 61 year old person in a position of power and influence abusing that position to pay money to a child for explicit pics then you do.
I feel it’s worth a ‘furore’.

If there were pictures of a 17 year old then there would be a case to answer. So there aren't any pictures from when the first person was 17 otherwise the police would've charging him. It's an accusation from the a stranger mother of a troubled young person, not the truth.

Standingchair1 · 12/07/2023 23:08

The allegations are 100% true.

Have not the whole thread, which usually annoys me when someone posts.

However, I felt compelled to post without reading further to say this:

Huw Edwards, despite what he has done, is a human being.

He is entitled to a private life.

I too am shocked given that I respected him as a journalist and presenter - it was unexpected - however it’s a lesson for us all. People on TV portray a persona. We do not know them. We know them only in their role on TV, they have a private life, a sex life, they have secrets and they make mistakes. They are not perfect. If he has broken the law he should face the consequences. If not, he might still have to face the consequences of bringing his employers name in to disrepute.

No one deserves to be hounded.

No one’s family deserves to be hounded.

This is a man who has poor mental health and I very much doubt he is in hospital because he is “playing the mental health card” - saying this is insulting to the MH professionals who have assessed him.
