Yeah let’s not make things like this public. Let’s make sure all the dirty little secrets stay well hidden. Really important we protect the coercive sleazebags. Who gives a shit about the poor vulnerable youngsters and women that get abused and lives destroyed along the way. So long as those wealthy powerful men don’t get their feelings hurt or reputations tarnished - that’s the main thing!

oakleaffy · 12/07/2023 22:21

@willstarttomorrow Almost every addict has trauma in their pasts- A surfeit of money never makes people become compulsive addicts or alcoholics.

An addict I know blew away an inheritance on crack- but this person was addicted anyway {traumatic childhood}

There are way better things to spend money on, but ctack of all the drugs seems to be very 'Moreish'.

{Not taken it, just from what people who use it say}

Supersimkin2 · 12/07/2023 22:21

In what universe is adultery/acting the perv a symptom of depression?!

Hope Huw enjoys his BBC-funded spa break at the Priory. Pool’s nice at this time of year.

PurplePansy05 · 12/07/2023 22:21

I think it's fair to say that HE had a very clean image - a stable, reliable man, a safe pair of hands to deliver even the worst news. An anchor, lead presenter on multiple shows. Devout Christian. Married. Five children. Smart. Keen interest in history. The Welsh warmth. He is an intelligent and hardworking man and he's projected this persona on screen, this is how he built up his impressive career.

I'm not taking away any of his achievements. I have always liked him as a presenter and respected him. Everyone is human and makes mistakes. I think, however, even if Met Police hasn't found sufficient evidence to proceed with the investigation, the multiple allegations and the reaction to it are genuinely concerning, it's more than a genuine mistake or an error of judgement. Even if not criminal, it's inexcusable. And this shouldn't be happening. I don't wish anything bad on him or anyone, but he should not be admired and generously rewarded either.

Absolutely.

Who is the she ?

Okay "he had an Only Fans page ...."
I've not seen anything confirming the gender of the young person and it's kind of irrelevant anyway.

bakebeans · 12/07/2023 22:22

WinniFinniHadog · 12/07/2023 22:11

Do I think what he's done is good? Absolutely not.

It's sleazy and perverted. Yes.

Immoral. Yes

Criminal? No (not according to multiple police forces who have investigated)

However I'm not willing to join the mob on this one. Honestly at this point, I think the pitch forks have been sharpened, the torches are roaring.

Crime or no crime, the mob is out for a kill, and a kill it will get sadly.

I agree. We do not know the full facts. He was meeting people online. We do not know the ins and outs what has gone on.

Supersimkin2 · 12/07/2023 22:23

@PurplePansy05 On the nail.

He’s just not the right person to front national news or events, and there’s no shame in that.

It's his wife who ended the speculation and made it public
Probably to highlight the damage done to him, and to Rylan and Michael McIntyre being destroyed online.

Nobody is interested in the victim.who has come forward to say it's not true

They just love to stick the boot in and be vicious. Pretending they somehow care about the bigger cause is nonsense. Weve just seen this play out with schofield.

And it's not about men, as caroline proved.

It's about modern day entitlement where people think that someone in the public eye is fair game to vitriol.

LaffTaff · 12/07/2023 22:24

BBC news has reported that three junior members of staff have disclosed inappropriate messages, and a feeling of being unable to challenge or even address it. A distinct pattern of behaviour has emerged.
Feeling helpless in your workplace because someone in a position of power has you on their radar (whether it be favourable or unfavourable) is a truly awful feeling, one which I'm sure many of us have felt.
I have no pity for Huw Edwards. None whatsoever.

Why? Why are news readers holier than thou? They're human.

Juse because we pay our license fee doesnt mean we own them.

oakleaffy · 12/07/2023 22:25

Someone aged 17 who has an only fans page surely is touting for business?
They must have lied about their age to get on it.

It's not the young person but their mother who is kicking off- It's a strange scenario.

Aye, sleazy men rarely manage to contain their sleaziness to just one interaction, so not that surprising.

Greengagesnfennel · 12/07/2023 22:27

What I CANNOT believe is that i am watching the news on catch-up and have fast forwarded 14 effing minutes of the bbc news at 10 and it is still on about Huw Edwards!!! THAT is what is wrong with the bbc. They are so self centred. I want to see the NEWS !!! Not your in-house family drama gossip fest. I do not care and am not interested in the bbc.

He literally read out the news. The rest of it is projected and made up by entitled people

But that assumes a whole lot of facts we don't know. The original Sun story was very carefully worded and they are now significantly rolling back.

If Huw was paying for online porn (entirely legally) and which would fit with the original story would you still say the same about him?

If you would that would mean no one in the public eye or with a public profile could ever use porn or visit sites like Only Fans. I hate porn but it's used regularly by lots and lots of people.

Says the BBC. The clue was in the first four words of the post.

This is a horrible story. The Mother has run to the Sun claiming £35k changed hands but they are estranged from son. Where are bank statements? Son says nothing to see here.

Huw is now in hospital. All the smug people clutching their pearls. Have you ever peeped at Porn Hub or cheated on a partner?

isadoradancing123 · 12/07/2023 22:28

No compassion, he is an abuser, mental health is a get out. I dobt he is waiting for the crisis time, more likely in a luxury harley st establishment
