No. As I said in my post, BBC news has reported it.

Just like they reported on speculation in the first place.

No compassion, he is an abuser, mental health is a get out. I dobt he is waiting for the crisis time, more likely in a luxury harley st establishment

Do you feel better after writing that?

WildUnchartedWaters · 12/07/2023 22:28

He literally read out the news. The rest of it is projected and made up by entitled people

Your comment is delusional. He knew exactly what on air persona he has been creating and he succeeded in getting a top job as a result of it.

It's ludicrous to pin his choices on the audience. He was paid half a million pounds and was on our screens most evenings because HE created a public identity of a person of trust and integrity, NOT the public. The public has been deceived by his choice and is rightly frustrated, tired or disappointed.

Anyone frustrated or disappointed is deluded and entitled.

Yes, if you must, although I think that's wrong too, as he hasnt actually committee a crimed nor has anything been proved, debate his actions.

But pretending hes let you down is nothing short of utterly self absorbed and entitled and frankly embarrassing.

This is silly.

Get a grip.

Hugasauras · 12/07/2023 22:35

It does get wearing for one male public figure after another to be revealed as just a dirty fucker, doesn't it? I don't think we need to hear any more about him and his seedy lifestyle unless there is either criminality or work malpractice, but it's just disappointing that here's another well-off man in power and a position of responsibility who is just a bit of an old perv at the end of the day.

LaffTaff · 12/07/2023 22:35

WildUnchartedWaters · 12/07/2023 22:29

I've tried, however I just can't see your point. You seem to be suggesting that the BBC should simply ignore it's junior members of staff 😕 Assume they're lying.

missmoon · 12/07/2023 22:35

Lots of potentially libellous statements on this thread. Mumsnet HQ would do well to delete it.

Ladylonglegs · 12/07/2023 21:42

The police didn’t have evidence of a crime. Probably because the person who was 17 when he paid them for sexually explicit images doesn’t want to cooperate.

I really don’t understand people who are okay with a 61 year old trying to find someone in their late teens/early twenties to pay for sexual services. There’s a clear imbalance of power. If he wasn’t a predator, he would have pursued people who were older, more mature adults.

This.

Maybe they could complete an internal investigation into these claims before they spend so long on the allegations.

There is nothing BBC news loves more than a news story about themselves.

DeliciouslyDecadent · 12/07/2023 22:38

@Ladylonglegs You really can't make those judgements.
We, as the public, do not know the whole story. There will be injunctions on a lot the information.

You're guessing and calling someone a predator just because you think that, is libel.

No,I'm suggesting it's all speculation at this point, because it is.

I don't think anyone at the BBC is 'loving' this. It's an absolute shit show for them.

Wigglewigglewitch · 12/07/2023 22:40

I don’t know why people seem to be deciding mental health is being used strategically in this case and that mental illness is no excuse for poor behaviour. A lot of people with poor mental health do shitty self destructive and damaging things precisely because of their mental health. People with mental health issues can be difficult and annoying and hard work. This is why they are difficult to support and people around them get drained and frustrated and then feel fucking awful when they reach crisis point and complete or attempt suicide. Cosy adverts about a friend who’s a bit down and just needs a text checking how they are are very far from the horrible reality of serious mental health issues.

Somanycats · 12/07/2023 22:41

So somebody who reads the news has been on onlyfans and (possibly) paid for content along with 300million other regular users. He has been investigated by the police and found to have done nothing illegal. The alleged victim has said the accusations are bollocks made up by his estranged parents.
These are the only facts so far - am I right?

TreadLight · 12/07/2023 22:42

Rich old man, no doubt attractive young woman. It's a tale as old as time.

I know at that age I would have been pissed off at being presented as a victim rather than someone able to make my own silly decisions.

Clearly you have never been around addicts.. ''Only fans'' ~It's safer than being on the streets having actual sex- and clearly they set up the account.

In what universe is adultery/acting the perv a symptom of depression?!

Hope Huw enjoys his BBC-funded spa break at the Priory. Pool’s nice at this time of year.

You might want to educate yourself on symptoms of depression and how they can manifest as risky and self-harming behaviours

👏👏I have been disgusted about some of the posts about his mental health treatment.
