Your pictures won’t have that blurred misty haze if you wipe the camera lens on your phone before taking them.

Your gold jewellery will sparkle like mad if you leave it to soak in warm soapy water and scrub gently with an old toothbrush, rings do the inside underneath the settings to allow light to penetrate better.

Drinking a pint of water first thing in the morning will rehydrate your body and help get rid of that groggy feeling. Drink as much as you can throughout the day - you’ll thank me for it.

Closing the apps on your phone will make it work more efficiently, same for clearing the browser history.

AIBU to ask what your tips of the day are?

In the shower tray of course. Rinse it away in the morning when you're getting ready for work.

You have showers at work? Fancy.

If you are struggling to get to sleep try taking magnesium and calcium supplements, most people are deficient.

If you are ill take Vit D and zinc supplements to boost your immune system and then keep going for a week after to resupply your body, it will help you fight off the next set of invaders more quickly.

If you are approaching peri/menopause, dont forget that brain fog could also be low thyroid function, get a TSH test. Or anaemia, get an iron and ferritin test.

bingnbong · 09/07/2023 15:23

Leave the washing machine door open after use and remove the tray so let it dry. Then it won't go mouldy.

Maireas · 09/07/2023 15:24

What tray?

bingnbong · 09/07/2023 15:25

@Maireas that the detergent goes in. Maybe it's called drawer.

Maireas · 09/07/2023 15:25

Oh I see.

It's easiest to give a cat a tablet by putting them on a worktop or table, giving them a few cats treats so they turn their back, then quickly gripping and raising their head up from behind and getting the pill in their mouth. They can't react as rapidly (or violently).

Also easier to get them into a cat backet by swaddling them quickly in an old towel, small blanket etc. They'll soon get it off once they're inside.

So when you're desperate for a wee at 6pm on a Friday????

Hold on til Monday.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 09/07/2023 15:30

Always keep a bucket of water to throw at cats in the garden. It is a great deterrent.

Pierce the stems of cut tulips so they last longer.

Clean your teeth four times a day and don't eat sweets. You will never need a filling.

Don't drink alcohol, it is simply wet calories and will make you look old, haggard and fat.

If you get chewing gum on your clothes, put the garment in the freezer for a few hours. It will then be easy to crack off the fabric.

I'd add, wash your childrens' coats. I rarely see a clean one. They're mostly absolutely minging. They wash easily and dry easily. No bother.

Oh I second this! I work in a nursery and also rarely see a clean one. I've always used soap flakes when washing my kids' coats, protects the waterproofing and they do dry quickly.

Is that a polite way of saying "put them in a headlock from behind"? Because if so that is my technique too! 😅

Don't bother sending anything first class, in recent experience it takes just as long as second. Just send things at least a week before they need to be there.

My birthday was last week, and my sister sent two cards to me, one first class, and one second class, and they both arrived on the same day. So I
will not be wasting money on first class stamps any more.

I spilt some red oil based dip down a white dress on Friday, I got home and put some washing up liquid on it and used a nail brush on the reverse then washed it as normal! I'm chuffed to say I saved the dress!! I'm so impressed with this!

Don't try to bake a potato on your car engine.

Dare I ask why you tried this?

Friend: "I read that if you wrap a potato in foil, put it on your engine then go for a long drive it will cook it."
Me: "Let's try it!"

We drove for hours. Damn potato didn't cook. We lost it at some point. It's probably still in there somewhere.

Use nail polish remover on a cotton pad to clean the rubber parts of trainers. Removes scuff marks brilliantly.

Yes, didn't want accusations of cat abuse.

I never send DD to nursery in her nice clean coats. I would be washing them every night if I had the same standards for nursery as I do on the weekend. Nursery seem to let them paint in coats, rub mud all over themselves and god knows what else. My kids coats have never gotten as filthy at a day at the park as at nursery. They can have their dirty coats back the next day Imo!

Don't drink too much water. You won't "dehydrate" unless you're sweating profusely. You can get enough fluid from food, especially fruit and veg.
Drinking water doesn't "flush out" or "clean" your system. That's not how the body works.
Put vinegar in a towel wash, no detergent. Towels come out well.
Hand sanitiser gets rid of pen marks.

This depends on where you live. I'm in southern Spain and we are under a heat bloom at the moment and I'm averaging 3L of fluid per day.
BUT little and often is much better. Look up water intoxication.

Same!

DD has specific nursery clothes, shoes and a coat which is all second hand or from the pound shop! The paint they use can never be washed out so I've given up!

If you want a discount code from your favourite online retailer, just clear your browsing history and then go back into their website. You should get a pop-up with a discount code.

Also, closing applications on iPhone has no impact of efficiency at all (from a former Apple employee).

Don't overdo vitamins...you'll just pee them out. Money literally down the drain!

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 09/07/2023 15:42

If you're short of drying space, put clothes on hangers and hang them on curtain rails.
Space them slightly so they don't go musty and only if the rail is strong enough.
Same as bath towels/bedding, hang over the curtain rail or clip one end to bottom of hangers and hang.
Used to do washing over a few days but can now do in one day and hang everything.

NatashaDancing · 09/07/2023 15:42

Brilliant! All of you !

Gingernaut · 09/07/2023 15:45

Put a bottle of cheap Aldi or Lidl vodka under the kitchen sink for when you need grease free mirrors, need to get the WD40 off a shiny surface when you had to get the sticky labels off and to help get oil stains out of clothes before putting them in the washing machine

Don't put any alcohol treated clothes in the dryer - put them in the washing machine.

pontipinemum · 09/07/2023 15:47

Put a dishwasher tablet in the sink then pour in boiling water. When it's dissolved unplug the drain and it should clean the drain.

Also dishwasher tab in the washing machine, gets oil/ grease out of the clothes
