Your pictures won’t have that blurred misty haze if you wipe the camera lens on your phone before taking them.

Your gold jewellery will sparkle like mad if you leave it to soak in warm soapy water and scrub gently with an old toothbrush, rings do the inside underneath the settings to allow light to penetrate better.

Drinking a pint of water first thing in the morning will rehydrate your body and help get rid of that groggy feeling. Drink as much as you can throughout the day - you’ll thank me for it.

Closing the apps on your phone will make it work more efficiently, same for clearing the browser history.

AIBU to ask what your tips of the day are?

I got loads of small bottles of hand sanitizer cheap, to save shredding your details from your mail squirt a blob on & it disappears. Check though as I’ve found on some things it disappears then reappears. Or just get a damp cloth & rub the label.

PoseyFlump · 09/07/2023 13:26

Drink 200ml of beetroot juice every day to help lower high blood pressure.

TheDogsMother · 09/07/2023 13:28

Top tips thank you. The only one I can think of right now and it's more of a life lesson than a tip ...., by all means economise, just not on toilet paper 🤣

Anyotherdude · 09/07/2023 13:30

Use a toilet paper spritz (like FreshX) instead of toilet wet wipes

Maddy70 · 09/07/2023 13:35

To clean a oven door dampen the end of a dish washer tablet and rub it over the door it's like a miracle with zero effort

Coastalcreeksider · 09/07/2023 13:37

Buy the little frozen blocks of spinach and put into one pot type of meals i.e chilli, bolognese, casserole or curry style dinners.

It makes meals go a bit further and spinach is good for you.

Win, win 😁

Love threads like this!

I don’t really have many 😬.

Dont waste money on expensive cleaning materials (kitchen spray/window/mirror/tiles etc), just fill the sink with bubbly fairy liquid and zoflora if you are worried about germs. Clean as normal. Mirrors streak free, everything shiny and clean.

To add volume to your hair, wash and dry as normal, then lift sections of your hair, spray some hairspray at the root and blow dry pointing up. Will stay full of body for days.

Dont clean your floors with bleach if you have pets, they think it’s urine and will wee on it.

The pet pee one is life changing for me! How did I not know this 🫨

I just cleaned my oven with a lemon cut in half and some bicarbonate of soda. It’s all I have talked about. Very exciting!

I've never drunk water in my life 🤮 can't stomach it. Wish I could 😬

HRTQueen · 09/07/2023 13:41

When you are looking for flights, concert tickets, holidays even insurance clear your search history before looking again. It’s registered you are looking (somehow bit techy for me) and your prices are likely to keep going up

Moonshine5 · 09/07/2023 13:48

Buy your spices from ethnic shops as they have a bigger range, different size bags and it's far more economical. Dates on these products are very long.

Coastalcreeksider · 09/07/2023 13:52

Mushrooms can go brown quite quickly if you don't use them within a few days. Don't sling them out.

If they do and look a bit manky, peel the skin and slice any brown bits off thinly then slice them and freeze.

I use them mainly in bolognese sauces or chilli as I love mushrooms and don't always have fresh ones available.

LMNT · 09/07/2023 14:00

Critic acid cleans everything and descales negating the need for any toxic chemicals. Including very dirty ovens!!

marshmallowfinder · 09/07/2023 14:01

I'd add, wash your childrens' coats. I rarely see a clean one. They're mostly absolutely minging. They wash easily and dry easily. No bother.

BadNomad · 09/07/2023 14:04

Always wear sunscreen.

Don't try to bake a potato on your car engine.

marshmallowfinder · 09/07/2023 14:05

Ooh, when making dishes with a mashed potato topping, such as fish pie, put a good layer of frozen peas over the fish in sauce. Then put the mash on top and oven/ grill to brown it. Stops it sinking in and makes it taste lovely!

BigFloppa · 09/07/2023 14:07

If you get chewing gum in your hair put oil on it and combs out really easily.

HideousKinky · 09/07/2023 14:18

The best thing for rings is to put them in gin for an hour or two - the stones come up a treat, they really sparkle!!

This is better than soapy water which can lead to the stone falling out

@dude Do you know where to buy this still? Used to find it in Sainsburys but unfortunately they've stopped now.

Namechangenoo · 09/07/2023 14:29

Possibly a bit niche but if you take medication that makes you itchy as a side effect (painkillers), over the counter allergy/hay-fever relief tablets can counteract it.

Cut chili's with scissors. Herbs too.
Freeze bananas for healthy ice lollies.
Wash your hair once a month in fairy liquid or hand wash to remove build up of products.

I have herb scissors with 5 blades. They're great for chillis and spring onions as well as herbs.

I'll be trying some of the oven tips next time. I didn't rinse the cleaning stuff off it properly the other day and I went to use it later and it went on fire. It's ok but I have to clean it again now, I was thinking of just sticking to Fairy liquid and hot water from now on though.

And related to the oven, I buy turkey foil to line the bottom of the oven to keep it clean. Because it's a wider foil it fits our oven perfectly. Ours heats from the bottom so anything that spills during cooking can burn on straight away so the foil saves me a lot of cleaning.

That's disappointing! I used to buy it from Ocado, and when they no longer stocked it I emailed the manufacturers to ask who their other stockists were - only Sainsburys was their response (a couple of months ago). Such a good product, and better than the alternative gels that are available.

I've never drunk water in my life 🤮 can't stomach it. Wish I could 😬

I was the same and then years ago I started putting crushed ice and a slice of lemon in it.

Now I drink water all the time without either of those things.

I think sometimes it's an acquired taste.

bonfirebash · 09/07/2023 14:35

Clean your earrings if you wear them all the time. Mine were... not pleasant! Hair products, soap, all kinds gets stuck in them

Exfoliating gloves are better than most scrubs

Put your foot cream on before you go to bed every night for soft feet

Don't bother saying goodbyes when you want to leave a social event with alcohol involved. Nobody will notice and your goodbyes will take a further hour. Just grab your jacket and leave.

This is what I do
