Your pictures won’t have that blurred misty haze if you wipe the camera lens on your phone before taking them.

Your gold jewellery will sparkle like mad if you leave it to soak in warm soapy water and scrub gently with an old toothbrush, rings do the inside underneath the settings to allow light to penetrate better.

Drinking a pint of water first thing in the morning will rehydrate your body and help get rid of that groggy feeling. Drink as much as you can throughout the day - you’ll thank me for it.

Closing the apps on your phone will make it work more efficiently, same for clearing the browser history.

AIBU to ask what your tips of the day are?

Don't try to bake a potato on your car engine

🤣🤣 Oh come on @BadNomad, you've got to elaborate on this!!

@dude Do you know where to buy this still? Used to find it in Sainsburys but unfortunately they've stopped now.

Amazon. Always check there first!

WonderfulUsername · 09/07/2023 14:42

Only use the loo at work. Not only will you save money on toilet paper, but you'll also be getting paid.

MrsJackRackham · 09/07/2023 14:43

If you're batch cooking, once the food has frozen pop out the blocks from the container and put them in freezer bags. Saves room plus frees up your containers.

Ourshoddyhouse · 09/07/2023 14:48

Don't bother sending anything first class, in recent experience it takes just as long as second. Just send things at least a week before they need to be there.

NeverThatSerious · 09/07/2023 14:50

I just closed all my apps OP, I haven’t done that for a day or two.. there was 78 🤣

mine is irrelevant this time of year, but put a Penny in the water when you have a bunch of tulips, stops them flopping over
Also use lemonade (cheap is fine, diet is not!) instead of water to keep flowers fresher for longer.. goes for any flowers

I've never drunk water in my life 🤮 can't stomach it. Wish I could 😬

What !!!!!! 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

What do you drink? How is this possible?

shadowchancesassy · 09/07/2023 14:56

@WonderfulUsername I've tried everything and it still tastes vile 🤦🏻‍♀️

shadowchancesassy · 09/07/2023 14:59

@DontBeSillyBridget I drink original lucozade from morning til night. I don't drink hot drinks unless i fancy them which is normally in winter time.

Pushmepullu · 09/07/2023 14:59

Freezing ginger and red chillies, when you need them fora recipe just grate them frozen. So much easier.

Andrea87 · 09/07/2023 15:00

Learn from what animals do-

Cats - wake up , stretch and then get up - when I remember stretching in the mornings it does help 🐱

Dogs - make a fuss of people when they come home and show family/ friends how much they have been missed🐶

Most animals - eat when you are hungry and not cos there is some chocolate or cake calling out for attention- I find this soooo hard!

An elastic band or hair elastic around one end of the baby wipes packet means you only get them out one at a time not a clump of 5/6! Less waste and you do not end up having to stuff all the extras back in the pack!

I read this so got an elastic band but the tip did not work, I guess I had the band in the wrong place!

Poppins2016 · 09/07/2023 15:02

Oh goodness. That reminds me of when I offered to take a photo for a family last year and felt slightly awkward when I ended up cleaning the fathers phone lense for him (but I just couldn't take a decent picture otherwise)! On the plus side, I think it was a bit of a "penny dropping" moment for him... 🤣

So when you're desperate for a wee at 6pm on a Friday????

Mabelface · 09/07/2023 15:09

Use scissors to cut pizza.
Get an old fashioned carpet sweeper for when you can't be arsed getting the hoover out.
Clean white cotton bedding once a month on a very hot prewash, then put on the line for a long as the sun is out. Cleans your washing machine and keeps bedding white.
Use washing powder. It goes much further than pods or liquids, and you only need to use half the recommended amount.
Keep your washing machine door slightly open when not in use to prevent mould.

Clean windows and any glass with newspaper. Sparkling clean and no streaks!

In the shower tray of course. Rinse it away in the morning when you're getting ready for work.

Nail Polish remover to get rid of oil based paint on the skin.

AlfietheSchnauzer · 09/07/2023 15:11

When adding gravy granules to a casserole (or any hot liquid), mix a couple of tablespoons of cold water with the granules in a small bowl first. Try crush the granules as much as possible. Then add some of the hot liquid to the cold granules mix. Stir. Then pour cold granule mix into hot liquid and you (should) avoid any lumps.

I also add a bit of cold water & mix a bit first when just making regular gravy from granules. Although, I much prefer to use Bisto powder in the little box, mixed with an OXO cube. Not a fan of granules at all but in a pinch 🤷🏼‍♀️

SmudgeButt · 09/07/2023 15:12

Close the cutlery drawer before you slice any bread. (& please tell my OH that as he doesn't listen to me.....)

Bicarb and a left over bit of left over lemon (from last night's G&T) makes cleaning a stainless steel sink easy - removes all the grunge and tea stains.

Buy the small pots of herbs from the supermarket (like Lidl) as they are cheaper than buying them from a garden centre. Basil will last a couple of months at least on your kitchen window sill, just water regularly when it begins to wilt. Pick the leaves to go in salads or in sandwiches.

Don't try to bake a potato on your car engine.

Dare I ask why you tried this?

Maireas · 09/07/2023 15:18

Don't drink too much water. You won't "dehydrate" unless you're sweating profusely. You can get enough fluid from food, especially fruit and veg.
Drinking water doesn't "flush out" or "clean" your system. That's not how the body works.
Put vinegar in a towel wash, no detergent. Towels come out well.
Hand sanitiser gets rid of pen marks.

I've heard that before, but can't get it to work. Black print everywhere.

SmudgeButt · 09/07/2023 15:20

If you have bananas beginning to freckle (ewwww! sorry I eat them green) you can peel them and pop them in a bag in the freezer ready to be used in baking. Warning: the freezer will smell of overly ripe banana (ewwwww!), be sure to label so they're not mistaken for sausages and when they thaw they will look like something your dog does after eating something really rotten. But it makes it dead easy to use them for baking.

If you have overbought veg and it's not going to be used.....prep it and pop it in a bag to freeze and you have have really inexpensive veg ready to roast. I do a combination of peppers, onions, shallots, tomatoes, courgette, squash, beet, potatoes - all normally all in the same bag cut to similar sizes. When you want some just put what you want frozen in a roasting dish, add a bit of oil (I use olive) and mixed herbs and pop in the oven for about 25 minutes at about 180.
