Bonus holes

The world has gone bonkers!
Apparently there is a charity who in conjunction with the LGBTQ community have put forward this is the acceptable way for vaginas to be described, so that trans women do not feel excluded.
Allegedly to help them come forward for cervical screening for a piece of anatomy they physically do not have.

When does this madness stop - the minority seem to have the misled belief that they speak for the majority of women and can rename our bodies.

AIBU - I do not have a bonus hole - I am a woman
YABU - men can decide what women call their bodies

I may be far behind this thread, but read about the 'bonus hole' this morning in a newspaper.
Fuck that - I am a woman, with a vagina.
I currently have a prolapse which is causing me problems (plus another two which aren't). If any HCP came near me and started talking about my bonus hole I would demand to see someone else.

Are they referring to it as that for everyone though, or just trans men if that's how they say they want it referred to?
As if it is the latter then I don't see the problem, as it's not that to me and never will be.

But that's how it starts - with good and bad changes, they start small and gradually become accepted and then acceptable. Just because it doesn't apply to oneself directly (you think) then it doesn't matter, but if you don't speak out against this kind of misogyny (as I understand it) then you're passively agreeing with it :(

Marchintospring · 08/07/2023 21:04

Cervical cancer is a medical female problem . If there’s any chance of you having cervical cancer you will be a female. Human females have vaginas in medical terminology not “bonus holes”.
Why are we encouraging anyone to think otherwise? A HCP needs to use professional language not nonsense terms.

lifeturnsonadime · 08/07/2023 21:06

Totally agree that this is about normalising porn language.

Along with dehumanising women.

It's everywhere and I'm sick to the teeth of it.

vipersnest1 · 08/07/2023 21:11

@BodgerLovesMashedPotato, how about transmen having it referred to as a medically-constructed vagina?
That's truthful medical language.
The whole 'bonus hole' thing makes me think of something that been won by playing bingo. It's such a childish and inappropriate phrase, and not based in biological language.

itsmylife7 · 08/07/2023 21:13

Transmen surely know that they are biological Women and should have a smear test.....or am I missing something ?

It wouldn’t be medically or physically correct though.
Medically constructed is the hole a trans women has.

vipersnest1 · 08/07/2023 21:21

Ok, @Roundandnour, I got it the wrong way round, but does that detract from the thrust of my post?

Trans men don't have medically constructed ones though, they have natural ones?
On account of being born with female anatomy.
There's clearly a lot of ignorance about still, which is why awareness is surely a good thing

Abitofalark · 08/07/2023 21:24

I wouldn't want to give currency to such a violently degrading term by repeating it. How casual people are about the use of insulting and hateful terms for women or girls.

Not necessarily. There are for example trans women on sm who tell anyone who will listen that they have a fully functioning vagina, that works in the same way and also have a cervix. Some even write endless posts and post videos talking about their menstrual cycle.

Some genuinely belief that by taking hormones and having surgery they have changed sex.

So there could also be tm out there who hold the same thoughts.

Which is why I haven't repeated it, as I agree it's a disgusting term.
If anyone trans wanted theirs to be referred to as such, or it helped them realise they needed smears too as they felt included/seen whatever, crack on.

Mojitosaremyfavourite · 08/07/2023 21:28

Fucking hell.

That’s all I can say.

Just had a half hour conversation with my husband about this.

Well I'd say that's delusional and a person in urgent need of mental health intervention.

Roundandnour · 08/07/2023 21:33

@vipersnest1
i completely agree that the correct terms for parts should be used when getting any medical treatment. It saves time for starters.

Should HCP who might find it offensive get the choice

I agree. But alas to state this often results in being called various names.

StephanieSuperpowers · 08/07/2023 21:36

What I find astonishing is that we're supposed to find it plausible that someone is so violently dysphoric that they would prefer to die of cervical cancer than have a smear test if the word "vagina" is used, but are able to overcome it enough to get pregnant and and deliver a baby through their...bonus hole.

vipersnest1 · 08/07/2023 21:37

@StefanosHill: 'Should HCP who might find it offensive get the choice'
Apparently GPS who object to termination of pregnancy are allowed to, so why not? 🤷🏻‍♀️

JudgeJ · 08/07/2023 21:38

Gives a whole new meaning to 'bonus ball'!

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 08/07/2023 21:42

Misogynistic, degrading and disrespectful for women and sounds like it was made up by a woman hating twat. Sick of all this now and if any medic ever used a phrase like this to me it may end up being the last words they ever use!

Same can be said about fully intact tw who refer to themselves as lesbians. (Straight men who like to cross dress?)

Bewilderedandhurt · 08/07/2023 21:49

I don't understand the need to continually try and appease a small minority of the population it applies to and constantly rename, repronoun everything. Why the need to feel an identity and inclusion if you purportto be female then use female anatomical terms. Even the pride flag has a new iteration every year because another sector of the community does not feel 'represented' the constantly change is tiresome, needless and difficult to keep up with.
I respect anyone's right to feel what they want and be at ease in society, this however is causing more backlash rather than inclusivity.
