Bonus holes

The world has gone bonkers!
Apparently there is a charity who in conjunction with the LGBTQ community have put forward this is the acceptable way for vaginas to be described, so that trans women do not feel excluded.
Allegedly to help them come forward for cervical screening for a piece of anatomy they physically do not have.

When does this madness stop - the minority seem to have the misled belief that they speak for the majority of women and can rename our bodies.

AIBU - I do not have a bonus hole - I am a woman
YABU - men can decide what women call their bodies

OP posts:

The charity is a dedicated cervical cancer charity. No men can get cervical cancer (not not even India willoughby) so the only people who use the charity are women.

There may well be a very small number of women who have such deep seated internalised misogyny that they refer to their vaginas as bonus holes to gay male potential sexual partners. But they all know they have vaginas.

If I call my vagina a fandango in a sexual context, I don't need my nurse who is doing my smear to know that. Like all women, I'm capable of using grown up words when talking to HCPs. It's unbelievably patronising to women who have different gender identities to produce this guide.

It's not aimed at trans women, despite the OP saying so.

StefanosHill · 08/07/2023 14:18

Wtf

Clymene · 08/07/2023 14:18

And no, I don't think cervical cancer charities should use the term bonus hole when talking to their clients, anymore than they should refer to a woman as a fat slag because that's what her husband calls her.

BodegaSushi · 08/07/2023 14:20

Here is the link to the guide, again, just so it's clear:

'Language to use when supporting trans men and/or non-binary people'

If you're not a trans man or non-binary, you and your bonus hole are safe Grin

Using the correct words is essential not only for medical reasons but also for practical reasons.

Why is it only female parts are getting renamed? Shouldn’t prostate and lady dick also be called something else because let’s be honest both are offensive. One to women and the other should be offensive to those who have body dysmorphia.

All of this, 'you're getting the wrong end of the stick, nobody would ever offend women by referring to them as...' seemed a lot more believable before the nhs produced health literature for women described as cervix havers and government funded reports encouraged the use of chest feeding within the nhs.

I'm GC so not defending this but I think you have misunderstood. It's so trans men don't have to refer to vaginas.

Fleetheart · 08/07/2023 14:23

sounds like a bit of DailyMail fearmongering to me. let’s just leave it shall we?

FourTeaFallOut · 08/07/2023 14:23

And the word woman was erased from menopause literature.

Isn’t this explained during the counselling stage that smears are still required until surgery?

JudgeAnderson · 08/07/2023 14:26

I've seen this on twitter. Damaged young women, covered in self-harm scars, who call themselves trans and post pictures of their "bonus holes" for all to see.

I know people on this thread will probably not want to hear this, but I can't bear misinformation being spread, so here goes.

OP, you are a bit confused- the term 'bonus hole' is never used by transwomen (who, incidentally, do not require cervical smear tests as they do not have a cervix), nor is it a new term; the term has been used for many years by some transmen, usually gay transmen, to describe THEIR OWN vaginas, never those of cisgender women.

The story you mention about the charity (which unfortunately you don't provide a link for) will, I imagine, be about the charity supporting the NHS in encouraging transmen to come forward for potentially life-saving cervical smear tests, as many transmen are either very unwilling to attend these, or don't even realise they should.

Unless I have missed something, no one is trying to tell you you can't call your vagina a vagina. I agree that would be outrageous.

I need to understand WHY a trans-identifying female person would prefer to call their vagina a "bonus hole".

Anyone?

Tinkerbyebye · 08/07/2023 14:29

Dies that mean a penis is a bonus pole? Bonus stick?

what do we think

I’m yet to see marketing aimed at those with bonus poles nor to ejaculation people

Maybe someone could link one

JudgeAnderson · 08/07/2023 14:34

*I need to understand WHY a trans-identifying female person would prefer to call their vagina a "bonus hole".

Anyone?*

Because they're expecting gay men to have sex with them.

CurlewKate · 08/07/2023 14:34

Like many of these things, it's not quite as bad as it appears on the surface- "bonus hole" is simply one of the terms people might choose to use about themselves. I can't imagine why- it's awful. But....

RudsyFarmer · 08/07/2023 14:38

What are transwomen referring to their penises as in prostrate cancer booklets? Does anyone know?

Grapewrath · 08/07/2023 14:38

Surely if you have a vagina you know you should have a smear. Whether or not you present yourself as male, if you have a vagina you certainly are aware of it.
Seems bizarre that money is being directed at male presenting females to attend smears, surely this isn’t a major problem. I’m fairly sure it’s just another attempt to dehumanise women actually.

FourTeaFallOut · 08/07/2023 14:38

Because they're expecting gay men to have sex with them.

Who'd have thought you could convert gay men with a crafty rebranding?

Rainbowshit · 08/07/2023 14:40

Lisbeth50 · 08/07/2023 13:58

How horrible and extremely offensive. In what way is it a bonus hole? Bonus for whom? And that's before you even consider the nonsensical use of "hole".

Bonus for penis havers. Because all a vagina is is a hole to fuck. 🙄 not even the primary fuck hole but the secondary one.

2mummies1baby · 08/07/2023 14:41

@VickyEadieofThigh I personally don't understand it either, I think it's an unpleasant phrase, but I don't believe that should stop other people doing it. The example I always use is that I don't understand why any woman would want to have sex with a man, but I don't believe I have a right to stop other women having sex with men just because it's not for me!
