Bonus holes

The world has gone bonkers!
Apparently there is a charity who in conjunction with the LGBTQ community have put forward this is the acceptable way for vaginas to be described, so that trans women do not feel excluded.
Allegedly to help them come forward for cervical screening for a piece of anatomy they physically do not have.

When does this madness stop - the minority seem to have the misled belief that they speak for the majority of women and can rename our bodies.

AIBU - I do not have a bonus hole - I am a woman
YABU - men can decide what women call their bodies

Because they're expecting gay men to have sex with them.

Yes, it's a homophobic term as well as a misogynistic one. Really concerning for a charity to play along with this level of self abasement and homophobia.

@Clymene I actually find it quite worrying that apparently someone who is incapable of using the correct terminology for a body part, is deemed to have capacity to decide to get other healthy body parts surgically removed.

Agree

Proudofitbabe · 08/07/2023 19:56

What a load of absolute shit. It IS a vagina, what does trans have to do with it?! Anyone who would refuse a smear unless it was called a bonus hole instead of vagina is a moron and any fallout from that is their own fault for being ridiculous. We shouldn't change medical language on that absurd basis.

Clymene · 08/07/2023 19:56

Here is the actual 'story'.

www.jostrust.org.uk/professionals/health-professionals/nurse-gp/trans-non-binary/language

It's a glossary of terms used by a tiny percentage of the population which this women's cancer charity has paid another organisation to provide to prove their queer friendly credentials.

I suspect they've been targeted by queer activists who have badgered them to do this, despite every single woman knowing that her bonus hole is actually called a vagina.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 19:56

What about the comfort of the HCP though? They shouldn't have to use terms like that in their place of work.
It's a disgusting word. Implying that the only purpose of the holes in our bodies is to be penetrated, and that the vagina is secondary at that.

Yes exactly. There are many cases where organisations have prioritised the sensibilities of trans staff over their female staff and customers. It's all one way, though, isn't it? It's porn language, there is no place for it.

But why would a gay man refer to as that term?
That doesn't even begin to make sense.
Either they're wanting to sleep with trans men, or they're not.
What they call their vagina or not is neither here nor there - they either want to or they don't
Just like I wouldn't want to have sex with one regardless of what you want to call it, gay men can make that call too.
You just consent to having sex full stop or don't, you don't have to give reasons why you want to or don't.
Nobody's entitled to have someone shag them.

Marchintospring · 08/07/2023 19:58

The story you mention about the charity (which unfortunately you don't provide a link for) will, I imagine, be about the charity supporting the NHS in encouraging transmen to come forward for potentially life-saving cervical smear tests, as many transmen are either very unwilling to attend these, or don't even realise they should.

Its the conflation of sex and gender again.
A cervical smear means they are the sex assigned at birth. Do they think they have changed sex or just align with a different gender then?
If you know you haven’t changed sex then you are in the same boat as millions of other women that don’t relish the thought of going for an intimate medical procedure. I actually don’t any women who weren’t uncomfortable at the thought. It’s not a trans thing.
If they don’t realise they should it just shows they have no idea about biology and therefore their opinion on sex/ gender / trans holds no weight.
Either way it stays a vagina.

Vaginas before someone misreads

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 08/07/2023 20:04

Wow

So me objecting to a part of the female body being referred to as "bonus hole" means I'm frothing.

It's normalising porn talk.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 20:05

That doesn't even begin to make sense.

Gay men want to sleep with other males, not females. "Bonus hole" as pp implied, is an attempt to pretend that FTM are a superior type of gay man with an extra "hole".

Who knows, but if it makes them more likely to come forward then surely that's a good thing?

I actually don’t any women who weren’t uncomfortable at the thought. It’s not a trans thing
I agree it's not just a "trans" thing, but some women aren't uncomfortable at the thought, I'm one of them. Just see it as something that has to be done, like a health check up every now and again, I know a lot of people who are uncomfortable with it though, we're all different.

If they don’t realise they should it just shows they have no idea about biology and therefore their opinion on sex/ gender / trans holds no weight.
All the more reason they should be educated/ encouraged to come forward then if not, surely?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 20:06

Because gay men only care about "holes"

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 20:06

Is the logic there.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 20:08

It's normalising porn talk.

It is.

Clymene · 08/07/2023 20:09

So how is HCPs knowing about the term Bonus Hile going to encourage transmen to come forward for smears @BodgerLovesMashedPotato?

BodgerLovesMashedPotato · 08/07/2023 20:12

So do we have a link to what it's actually about, a context story, or as is looking likely did the OP just do a plop and run and then sit back and enjoy?!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 20:15

Clymene provided a link. Read the thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2023 20:18

Me too. They've got mixed up in this before, I think.

Marchintospring · 08/07/2023 20:19

@BodgerLovesMashedPotato So professional's are now expected to use highly offensive and incorrect terms so that some people get a procedure they don’t want? Part of being a man is not having to worry about cervical cancer. If that’s what a trans man wants crack on. We aren’t allowed to acknowledge they are women in any other way. It’s a hate crime/ literal violence/ illegal .

And what happens if they find they have cervical cancer. What sort of word nonsense are doctors expected to reframe it as so as not to offend?

DidyouNO · 08/07/2023 20:20

I will never understand the need to indulge mental illness rather than treat it. We'll be hiding food from anorexia suffered next. This is such dangerous stupidity.

Marchintospring · 08/07/2023 20:22

@Clymene Good point. How does it help increase uptake?

vipersnest1 · 08/07/2023 20:24

I may be far behind this thread, but read about the 'bonus hole' this morning in a newspaper.
Fuck that - I am a woman, with a vagina.
I currently have a prolapse which is causing me problems (plus another two which aren't). If any HCP came near me and started talking about my bonus hole I would demand to see someone else.

NotLovingWFH · 08/07/2023 20:26

if you’re a trans man who hasn’t had genital surgery then you still have a vagina. If you’re a trans woman who hasn’t had surgery then you still have a penis. Like it or not those are the correct names for those parts of your anatomy, you don’t have to like it but it is a fact and the correct terms should be used to avoid misunderstanding.

Blueblell · 08/07/2023 20:27

Obviously it sounds porno related - what are they thinking
